I don't think this was what anyone was expecting.

I don't think this was what anyone was expecting. I kinda expected that it was a possibility based on the preview from last week... but I didn't think they'd have the nerve to actually do it.

If this had been the "B" story for last weeks episode, then . . .

Hinted at, yes, but I'm with you, I never expected them to do something like this so soon after killing off Breena, then letting Jack go. This was an unwanted Glassberg move.
Which leaves us with a question, or several. Saw the post where Phineas is returning, so we know Gibbs doesn't stay in jail next week. That's a given, however, I heard a rumor that Harmon was thinking about cutting back his hours, which could mean they have a shortened season next year, or he only appears in a small number of episodes, or the series is finally coming to an end. Which could it be?

What is going on at NCIS? Sloan is GM Afghanistan, Palmer wife is gone (did I miss how that. Happened?) Fornells daughter has OD’d, is Fornell gonna leave for Costa Rica like he stated in Winter Chill, and that’s in the last 4 weeks. I’m gonna start having abandonment issues if this keeps up...

🤔 hmmmm... maybe the writers are planning to “relocate” or kill off each and every cast member until there’s only the “last man (or woman) standing”... then the screen will go dark and NCIS will bid all their loyal fans a fond “farewell”...

To me Emily was probably the most realistic scenario - very sadly addiction is horrible and relapses occur with deadly consequences in all walks of life. This ending was much more realistic that her being "fine" and just going on with her life.
One thing that did bother me a bit in the episode was they go in and out of pandemic reality ... there is the shield in the interrogation room but Gibbs and Fornell are in the ER (as well as the other family) with no masks. That would not happen. I felt the last episodes were more consistent.

I actually thought that it was Jack who was going to be in jeopardy at the end of the episode. My thought was she gets hurt, she flown home & she dies. I was shocked that it was Emily. My question is was it accidental? or suicide? With COVID and her father thinking of moving to Costa Rica was she depressed?
I liked the episode & had no idea "who did it". & yes $12 for a ear of corn, really? and of course Ellie had the food truck app on her phone.

Episode was a mess. That's becoming more common, unfortunately. Again, it seems the plot was too long, as they just happened to find a camera of the incident in time to confront the bad guy with it. How convenient. As for losing Emily Fornell, I wonder why that wasn't earlier. Her death mattered more than the loss of Palmer's wife (who we hadn't seen in years). So Palmer can now be the comforting guru (having lost his wife), but I'm not sure that's a plot device worth having (didn't Ducky and Daddy Gibbs already do that?). If I were Margo Harshman (Delilah) I'd be scouting for a new gig quick. BTW, isn't Joe Spano a wonderful actor?

Was anyone else bothered by the casualness of conversation in the bullpen after Emily's death? No real emotion until Vance walked in. Before that, Bishop, McGee, and Torres were just casually discussing the ease of relapses and overdoses. A bit cold in my opinion.

When I first saw Fornell in the guest credits list on here I didn't know what his involvement would be. Did not see that coming.

I thought Fornell was going to announce that he was going to be a grandfather or even a father again. Especially when there was an exchange that had the words Yeah Baby!
