I'm so not interested in McGee's Daddy issues or that of any other agent.
NCIS is turning into a soap opera and I fear more of that crap given Binder's "season of love" comments.
The show needs a whole set of new writers.

I decided to give “Daddy Issues” a look-see…
a few hours later I thought I’d write a review, but I couldn’t remember what the episode was about! 😂 🤔 does that mean something?

Although I liked McGee's new buddy and thought the actor did a fine job with the role, the case left me cold. Cheese to guns to theft of school funds is too much of a stretch for me. Knight making the awful jokes could be fun if they don't overdo it.

I enjoyed this episode. No formula this time (the bad guy appearing in act I), and it kept us guessing as to motivation and outcome. I loved the PO at the beginning with the Congressional Aide, and the Monty Python reference! (I laughed out loud at that one!). Cheese in barrels was a stretch though. Government cheese would be in 5# blocks in a refrigerated storage unit. I thought the scene in the funeral parlor was funny as well, and showed off an extremely competent Dr. Palmer. I also could very well relate to McGee being a flaming "I" (Extreme Introvert).

The writers probably didn't intend it, but I temporarily went after a red herring in the form of one of the preppy guy's friends at the football party. I figured most of the room was extras, but one friend I recognized and couldn't immediately place turned out to be the actor who played Zack on TBBT. His character was a bit like Fornell in the sense that he didn't show up often, but fans of the show enjoyed when he did show up and wouldn't have minded him being a regular.

I thought this was a solid grade C episode. Better than last week's, but not by much.
I did like McGee's new dad buddy. Hope he comes back in a later episode. But some of it doesn't make sense. Why would he have such an elaborate code for a vault that contained cheese? And if his code wasn't for that vault, but for others as well, why would he have such an important code key on his freaking laptop that he lets people borrow? I get that it's on another partition. Still way too risky for it to fall into the wrong hands. I'd never let that laptop out of my sight for an instant.
I'll give points to this episode for me not guessing who the bad guy was immediately. I really thought it was preppy dad. So little swerve there. I also liked that it gave a little glimpse into the dad life of McGee. And how he interacted with some of the other dads of kids their age. And can also sympathize with McGee and small talk. Hate that sort of thing myself.
While certainly it seemed nice that the guy got to keep all that $$ in the end, I wouldn't think it would be that simple as to "pull a few strings" and *poof* the money is all his. But maybe after all those years at working at NCIS, he does have a few powerful people he could call in a favor or two for.
Anyway, decent episode. Nothing really Earth-shatteringly good or bad in this one.

Was I the only one that saw the inside of the vault and thought - wait, wasn't there ocean right behind the hill that the bunker was built into? I could have sworn some of that cheese vault had to be underwater...

you are absolutely correct, BobNOT!!
I recorded the episode so I just went and looked at the opening scene - and, indeed, there is a huge ocean right behind the hill! 😱
to the best of my knowledge there isn’t any ocean in or around the NCIS jurisdiction that the team works out of, right? so, the next question is: where did they shoot that bunker scene in California? 🤔 eta: OR was it a bit of misplaced CGI?

In my opinion the voters that gave this episode an "A"
have set a very "low bar" for the once great show...

nas Kinda LOOKED CGI... but, usually, when they do ocean scenes, they use Naval Base Ventura County in Oxnard/Port Hueneme, so it could be some installation on the base...
