When I saw Knight in the elevator with the actress, my first thought was -- "Hey, Jess, maybe the show needs a stand-in/stunt-double". But the crime(s) and the (sorry Nas) explosions were a little too blah for my and my wife's tastes - wife actually fell asleep, which is unusual for what is still one of our must-see shows...

yeah, the episode really didn’t do much to move me either way, tho’ the storyline was unlikely… having an actress interrogate a psycho killer? nah - ain’t never gonna’ happen; not even Tom Cruise would get to do that…
I did get a laugh when the ladies were down in the lab and Kasie was complaining about how unlikely a scene was in one of Chloe’s movies - she wished they would make movies more realistic… I have to believe the writers of this episode knew exactly what they were doing there… 😅
very first scene had me thinking: if you received a delivery from a bot box that you didn’t order, and it continued to chase you after you ignored it, would you then decide to open it? I don’t think so! turns out the explosion was secondary - I thought that was the first thing that was gonna’ happen… btw, BobNOT, NCIS: Hawaii does explosions regularly - and seriously ridiculous “shoot ‘em up” scenes, too… real eye rollers! 🙄
the cast of characters wasn’t available on the episode info that llyan posted, but I was curious about the actor who played the weirdo with the “eye problem”, so I went to the source and looked him up… the IMDb cast listing for the NCIS episode lists him as: (who knew? never heard of him)
Andrew Elvis Miller www.imdb.com/name/nm0587890/?ref_=tt_cl_t_10

Wow, my niece has 2 different color eyes; brown & green.
The episode did drag a bit. Loved the bad guy. Wish they would have kept him around. Thought maybe they would have waited to tell the guy that he wasn’t as smart as he though he was until after they made sure he was tell the truth.

I knew nas would love the explosions. As for the delivery bot, having it show up at the pier is definitely a red flag as opposed to it showing up at the door to the house. She could have evaded it with some stairs. Also, if the intent was to blow her up then why put the head in there? I did like the way the actress character was portrayed - genuinely interested in all of the input she could get and taking notes. When Kacie was giving the goofs, I was really hoping she'd say something about running DNA in 10 minutes when it takes a minimum of a week, since that is the biggest one NCIS does. The bad guy certainly had the creepy turned up to 11. Not sure what the rules are, but if they suspected traumatic brain injury they should have checked the scalp for some major scars. It's not like a regular concussion, there will be marks.
And the big thing that yielded a grand disappointment: Ducky doing the profile, but Ducky isn't there to deliver it. For about 2/3 of a second I thought DMcC might appear and the feeling of letdown lasted significantly longer.

It's not like a regular concussion, there will be marks. I agree that the bad guy was really creepy. When he pulled out the contact to reveal that he had two different eye colors, that was a nice twist. I was expecting that the actress was going to reveal that she had two different eye colors (or maybe they faked that she had two different eye colors) and that was going to be what drove him to reveal his secret. So while I wasn't expecting that the bad guy was going to take out the contact, I wasn't nearly as surprised as Torres.
I did get a chuckle out of McGee using a hatchet to break the chain though. They had a picture of the couple and knew that they were handcuffed. Pretty sure that they'd have used bolt cutters to free them. It would be a lot more practical and more likely to succeed on the first try!And the big thing that yielded a grand disappointment: Ducky doing the profile, but Ducky isn't there to deliver it. For about 2/3 of a second I thought DMcC might appear and the feeling of letdown lasted significantly longer.
I wonder if they wrote it for David and for some reason or another, David couldn't make it to filming so they gave his story to Jimmy instead. They just threw in the lines that Jimmy was giving Ducky's report as a case of art imitating life.
Torres fawning all over the actress and bragging about his childhood turn in acting was really annoying but turning up as a dead body at the end (especially with the eyes lol) did make me laugh.
I think they were trying to aim for a psychological thriller for this episode but didn't quite get there. It was still good but not a great episode.

The acting role as a corpse reminded me of a Friends episode where VanDamme was a guest star and he got Joey a part in his movie where he was supposed to be in the process of dying, but it got changed to him already being dead.

oh yes, I have to agree with that, Hari… I’m glad that she wasn’t made to look silly or ditzy… although Parker seemed to suggest that her movies were more “B” than classic… also, I thought she was a very pretty woman…

Would have given this one an "A", but towards the end it kinda unravelled and went to predictable-ville.
And the opening scene was kinda weird. Robo deliveries on a Navy pier? Security, schmecurity.
I was really enjoying this episode through most of it, though. Creepy dude was creepy. Resting psycho face really would freak me out sitting across from him. Great acting job there. And I was generally was being taken in by the story. Definitely a bit different from the usual case o' the week. I also chuckled at the actor/Kasie exchange about "realism" on police shows. Yeah, sure. Realism. Heh.
It kinda went off the rails for me on the last quarter or so of the show. When creepy guy was taunting actor about finding her mother, what was that all about? He said he was good "at finding people". But never went into how. And actor's reaction was a bit strange. Was there some sort of history between them? Did the mother have that condition? And I wouldn't be sniffling/choking up at him doing that. I would say something like, "You even look at my mother menacingly, I will rip your heart out and show it to you before you die. Got it!?" That whole interrogation scene was whack.
And I figured creepy psycho guy either had that condition or maybe his abusive dad or other relative had it and that's what set him off after his accident. So the reveal wasn't all that surprising to me. The minute they showed the timer to said creepy psycho, I knew they had messed with it. And very predictable that they showed up just in time to rescue that couple before the big BOOM! goes off. And knew when actor said Torres could play a character on the show, that he would be a corpse. But did like his expression as a stiff...heh.
So anyway -- I think the writers did a pretty decent job at first. Then it seemed they got lazy and went to usual cliches at the end. So I dropped it a letter grade from A to B.

I was prepared to hate this espisode. It sounded silly (which is a half-step up on stupid) but was pleasantly surprised at it. I fully expected the actress to be a flake and was stunned when they played her straight. The conference between her and the villain was unrealistic but most of the rest of the episode held together pretty well (except for the initial bomb in the dine-a-bot. All in all, not a bad episode. Also not a great one. Did love the end scene with Torres as the body and the villain was absolutely wonderfully done. BTW, does anyone know how many episodes there are this season? We should be coming up on 450 quickly.

BTW, does anyone know how many episodes there are this season? We should be coming up on 450 quickly. Episode 450 is the one after next week so no press release yet. It'll be 20x15. As for the number of episodes, I haven't seen anything yet but I'm going to guess it'll be about the same as last year 20-21. I saw Fire County is getting 22, so maybe we could get more.
