I was talking with my brother last night about Ducky’s fair well. He said he’s hoping for the best, but also prepared for it to not go so well either. He doesn’t watch the show live anymore, so he’ll probably watch it tomorrow. He also said he’s hoping any special thing is them showing clips at the end of the episode of Ducky from different episodes throughout the years, with a voice over. That way you see past characters without needing the actors onset. I personally would be okay with that, didn’t they do that when McGee’s dad died?

The moment they changed the music at the opening, I knew I would be a wreck by the end.
The end was pretty sweet, not who I was expecting.

Thought that was a great touch. Since I watched it on the east coast will wait to say more Well, the west coast should be busy watching it right now and should know better than check the board until they finish...
The somber version of the theme caught me off guard, but was great. I saw DMcC in the opening credits and realized I hadn't even paid attention to them for episode 1, but yes he was in the ep 1 credits. Now I'm wondering how long he will remain there. The scene with Palmer and Kacie talking about telling people how you feel was already in the sneak peeks and showed Ducky displaying Palmer's artwork, but I felt there should have been a mention of Jimmy naming his daughter after Ducky's mother. What could Palmer say that would be more expressive of his feelings than that. I did enjoy the ending cameo, though it was a little generic - with minor changes the same conversation could have taken place with half a dozen other people: Gibbs, Sloane, Fornell, Abby, Sr., or Dr. Grace

I'll give it another day for those who haven't watched it yet. Just quick and dirty impressions:
1. Love the opening theme. Almost broke down then and there.
2. Tasteful and emotional. Without going over the top. Good use of flashbacks.
3. Liked the cameo.

I agree to all the above, but the case was blah. Knew from the beginning who would be the bad guy and that they would make the girl's life better. Not an inspired case, but an inspiring episode in Ducky's honor.

I couldn’t have said it better. I’m glad it wasn’t a crying feast but showed all sides of Ducky. I also liked how they handled the scene with Jimmy & Jessica, a tender moment. And of course with Tony’s appearance at the end was fabulous & perfect that they waited until the end so the episode didn’t revolve around him coming back.

I liked how they touched on the original members with the mail and photo from Gibbs and the floral arrangement from Abby.
As the team was leaving autopsy I was waiting for the reference from Tony and wondering if he would be there and about 2 seconds later he appeared. And I agree handling it at the end it was it was not the focus.
I liked the Tony Jimmy scene - and that McGee joined them at the end and it was the three of them. The long term cast.

Not an inspired case, but an inspiring episode in Ducky's honor. They never tried to disguise the bad guy and the bad guy really didn't even try to hide it. The two problems I had with the case were: 1. NCIS doesn't keep copies of their autopsy reports? They always had them right there in the building before. 2. They were happy with just getting the bad guy to drop his political campaign. Nothing was said about criminal charges being pursued. I realize they probably couldn't conclusively prove that he did it (and he probably got one of his underlings to do the actual murder), but they could have been a bit disappointed that getting him to resign was the best they could do.

I have not yet watched the episode, not certain if I will watch, but my brother gave me his review. As he has Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, (and works 2:30-10 the rest of the week), he was able to watch this morning. Actually our mamma watched last night as well, which is odd since she is not a fan of the show, but was a fan of David. I am glad to see that people here liked the episode. To be honest though, both of them were very disappointed with the episode. They had some okay moments, but that was all. My brother stated that it made him realise that NCIS should have been cancelled years ago before Mark left the show.
I am not certain what I will decide to do, but I am glad that some people enjoyed the episode.

Hubs and I needed lots of tissues during this episode. I thought it was very well done, and it incorporated a case instead of being a "clip show". The clips they showed advanced the story, and were really poignant as well. I also loved the Easter eggs of the "Great Escape" moving company and the corgi's name being (Napoleon) Solo. I am going to have to re-watch as I am sure there are lots of things that I missed. Although I would have loved to see Gibbs, there was a nod to him at the beginning, as well as the nod to Abby, and I thought the cameo at the end was a nice touch. I am also pleased that IMDB did not spoil it until after the ep aired in the Eastern/Central time zone. Also, noting where all the flowers came from as a nod to all of the franchises, as well as the Far East office, where Knight's dad is posted. I thought it was a wonderful tribute to both Ducky and David.

I missed the Great Escape moving company, but then in my area there is a chain of stores that specialize in outdoor pool sales, installations, and supplies called The Great Escape, so it probably automatically tuned out. I forgot that Knight's father was in the Far East office, but caught that cherry blossoms were sent when I thought that was the flower DC was known for. Would he also send a cactus wreath to Arizona? In the comments on a YouTube clip, there were people who though it was spite to Pauley that Abby wasn't mentioned by name, but if they were out to spite her the wreath wouldn't have been in there at all.

But it was. The piano version was beautiful and somber at the same time. During the opening credits, with the somber theme song, I turned to my wife and said - they should have changed the credits and, for each actor, had a clip of them interacting with Ducky in some touching way. I think that would have made a HUGE impact on the kleenex use. For the rest of the episode, I thought it was okay. Nice cameo by MW/Tony, and a shout-out to PP/Abby with the black roses, but... just an envelope with an Alaska return address? Considering we saw in an earlier episode how Ducky was basically the "driving" force that propelled Gibbs into NCIS in the first place, and was stated many times to be his oldest friend, and they were the longest running of the original cast (from the pilot)... Anyway, isn't MH still listed in the credits as Exec Prod? And he couldn't even make a quick cameo?
