Were they in Paraguay, Bolivia or Colombia? Oops, yes, they were in Paraguay. Friend of mine is in Columbia this week and it somehow got mixed up in my head.

Since I saw this episode something about it has been bothering me. I finally figured out what it was.
It was predictable.
Not only did the new show runners tell us it was going to be a cliffhanger, but they said it would be a life changing situation. Then they show us Gibbs and McGee staying behind to fight the bad guys and save the day, with the implication that one or both of them could die.
We've seen this before.
Gibbs gets blown up and leaves NCIS end of season 3 - He comes back (Harmon's contract isn't up)
Ziva gets sent back to Israel end of season 6 (or was it 5) - She comes back (Cote's contract isn't up)
Ziva gets left in Israel end of season 7 - She comes back (Cote's contract isn't up) {Give Cote credit even if you don't like her, she always fulfilled her contract}
Gibbs gets shot end of season 12 - He's fine (Harmon's contract isn't up)
Gibbs is pointing a gun at Fornel - Fornel gets shot in the butt, funny, but he's fine (although that one could be questioned since he did get back with Diane.)
We're promised "Great life altering moments" but they are never fulfilled - and we get the same formulaic season ending cliffhangers that lead to disappointing season premiers the following years.
Yes, this year we will be dealing with new husband and daddy to be McGee, and there will probably be some fallout between him and Deliah, which will probably lead to the same tired NCIS formula of NO ON SCREEN SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIPS.
I love this show, it's my second all time favorite. (Nothing will ever surpass M*A*S*H) but the tired retread of story lines is starting to get to me. I had so hoped that the new show runners would be able to break free of the predictable and often times soap opera-ish influence of Glassberg, but it's seems they are mired in it too deep.
I'm hoping the next season will surprise me.

I finally watched this episode and all I gotta say is, did they really think we wouldn't recognize that church as the church from the background of where Gibbs sniped Pedro?
