If they wanted to try and kill the mothership, they would have probably tried to bury it at 19 on Sundays. Honestly I don't think they will have much trouble going up against MNF,since that is on cable and not ABC. Oh god I am so glad someone besides me realized this. Tryng to tell a bunch of people from FB groups for the show is like hitting my head against the wall I haven't watched an NFL game in years. So, this won't affect me. Yes, MNF in now on cable, and a lot of homes have ESPN, so, it might be a struggle for some, but I doubt it will be that dramatic. There are now so many options to watch a show it's almost a mute point as to when it's scheduled. I'll have to watch the season final on Wednesday via streaming since I's closing at work and won't get off till 11. No biggie for me really.

How many weeks does your American football season go on for? It never seems very long, going by our football season, where the Premiership play 38 games a year, home and away, not to mention two internal country cups and then some top teams play in the European competitions, also home and away in leagues to start the competitions nowadays, before a knockout stage, they are introducing a third tier European cup next season. Even our Rugby Union seems to have a longer season.

Even our Rugby Union seems to have a longer season. The season is 18 weeks long and each team plays 17 games (one per week, with one 'bye' week. Then playoffs are 4 weeks long. Some teams play 3 games while the lower seeded teams play 4 if they make it to the Super Bowl. The regular season starts in September and the Super Bowl is in February.

Do they have a Monday night game every week of those 17 games? If they don’t, does the programme still have the slot but they show old games and have talking heads, rabbiting on about the teams like we have?

MNF is on ESPN, so they set their programing to fill that slot fairly simply with other sports, or babel or news or blah, blah, blah. I don't have ESPN but it's a sports channel, by the time the NFL is over, the NBA and NHL are in full swing, they don't lack for programing.
Which team do you support in the EPL? I'm a fan of Liverpool and Leicester. It will be interesting to see where Harry Kane ends up.

I’m a Spurs fan, hoping we get a lot of money for Harry and we can build a team, rather than the one man band we have we Harry. A decent manager would be useful but we’d need better owners for that to happen. There are a few more players we need to off load before the start of the 21/22 season. Shame, since the new stadium is awesome.

I'm glad somebody asked and somebody else answered. I live in Texas and have never understood our football season at all. Not a big fan, but I have lots of relations that are.
Thanks!
