Where I live in MN we had 8” of snowfall starting yesterday afternoon into the early morning hours of today. I know some places had a lot more, but still a decent amount. If anyone wants some of the snow I will me happy to send it your way. Maggie loves it though, so she is very happy. I'll pass. I'd be happy to wait until November to see any more snow. I only finished putting my lights out yesterday.

don't know where your original post disappeared to, ballerina... I read it this morning, but as of this evening, it's gone!
as for the 8" of snow, you can keep it, m'dear! I live in southern Arizona for a reason - I am definitely a warm weather person!! up north, Flagstaff got lots of snow to officially open their ski season... it's pretty to look at, but I don't care to be in it... I'm sure your niece Maggie and my grandoggie Buck would love all that white stuff!
I've been seeing the news reports of the devastating tornadoes in Kentucky, and it just breaks my heart... total destruction of so much, and many deaths, too -soooo sad...

I decided to delete the original post. I didn’t really like it any more. I am not a fan of winter either. There are a lot of people I love in MN, but it’s not my ideal place to live. The snow does look pretty when it first falls, but that passes quickly. Also, driving in winter weather is not fun at all.

The Southern part of the State of Connecticut had their first snowfall Wednesday and was more like a blanket of snow. The snow melted by Friday and saturday when we got rain. I love the snow. As Long as I don't have to drive in it for long and or stand out in it for long periods of time.

Well, nas, 25 years or so ago, my son saw snow falling for the first time, right here in good old Tucson.. of course, it didn't stay more than an hour or so, and more like 8/10ths of an inch than 8"...

…and on the flip side of the coin - there’s the summer heat!
the news media is going f#&*@% nuts over the 100+ temperatures here in the States - and all around the world; they act like it’s something new! it isn’t new - it’s just getting hotter! all I can say is, “my world and welcome to it!”
we still have EMT teams rescuing hikers off the hiking trails here in town! 😡 they should do what my Grandoggie Buck does: even a dog knows it’s smart to stay indoors when it’s hot outside!
stay cool, stay safe y’all!

London, England (there are others it seems!) hit a record of 40C on Tuesday. Kew Gardens being one of the areas they use as a measure.

yep, mchnelson, there’s a London, Kentucky and a London, Ohio here in the U.S.A. - but you have “the famous one”! 😉 (I used to work with someone who was born in Paris, Tennessee…)
the temps in the southern states may only be in the 80’s or 90’s, but the high% humidity is what makes it so brutal!
here in Arizona they say, “but it’s a dry heat”… well that may be, but when the temperature hits 113-115 (like it will this week) it is nasty hot! 🥵
in re-reading my original post I realize I sounded rather uncaring about the rest of the world experiencing unusually high temperatures… that’s certainly not how I feel! my heart aches for everyone suffering from the heat - but now they know what it’s like to live in a desert state like Arizona… it isn’t pleasant here during the months between June and October, but the upside is we don’t have to shovel snow in the winter! that is some consolation, I guess…
stay cool in Richmond! oh, btw, did you know there’s a Richmond, Virginia here in the U.S.?

I did know about Richmond, Virginia. Not sure if it wasn’t named after the Richmond in Yorkshire, rather than my Surrey one. I believe they have or had a Mint there, when Jo and I did the tour of the Texas one I bought a $2 bill with a cover of Richmond.
I was going to post some green pictures of Kew for you but as usual they are too big to post.

nas I've got in-laws out in Richmond, VA. Did you know that Virginia isn't really a state?

no, I did not know that, Hari! but thanx to Google, now I do…
There are four states in the United States that call themselves commonwealths: Kentucky, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. The distinction is in name alone. The commonwealths are just like any other state in their politics and laws, and there is no difference in their relationship to the nation as a whole.
live and learn, nas, live and learn! 😊

I'm guessing some of us are wishing for a snowstorm about now?
