Yeah, I'm also glad they didn't go to the cliche of the partner being dirty and the one behind it all. I did consider it at the time though -- along with the lawyer. Thought maybe she might have been running the show as well. I would have liked it better if it was her and the "W" guy was innocent after all of that. But they never consult me for some reason.
One thing that did kinda annoy me too. When Parker sped off from the crime scene they said he basically dropped off the map and went dark. Umm...don't the cars have some sort of tracking on them? You could at least find where the car was -- presumably Parker would be fairly close by it.
That is an interesting idea -- that the episode was written for Gibbs instead of Parker. That would make some sense. Though have no idea when Brian and his co-writer came up with this screenplay. Could totally seeing Gibbs flying off the handle (like he did last season). But it seemed a bit out of character for Parker. At least the Parker who we have been introduced to so far. Hope he goes back to the bird watching/gardening/picking up pastries dude that we've been used to seeing.

I dunno. I thought it was totally in character for Parker. He's been shown to have quite the temper. He's smacked the roof of cars, dented the side of his desk with a kick (which should have broken his foot) and definitely yelled quite loudly before. He drove off without explanation before when they found the sunflower seeds when his ex-wife was kidnapped. I can't really explain why but his anger feels different than Gibbs' version. It's definitely not a good trait. But it's definitely in character for him.
Given the previews, I liked the episode more than I thought I would. The criminals definitely weren't masterminds. Both of the drug dealers were pretty dumb. The first one they caught gave enough incriminating testimony while being interrogated that he's going to jail for a very long time. And Willis even admitted that he was a bad criminal. I kinda feel bad for him (only a little though... he was dealing drugs.)
I wish McGee would have told Parker off more for going rogue. The team did have everything in hand and had more than enough evidence to arrest Willis. Parker really does deserve more than just a hand slap for being so dumb and for being awful to his team, Jimmy and Kasie.
And like the others, I liked Parker's old partner. He did a great job and I like that he's actually a wheelchair-bound actor. It was a nice touch to have McGee connect with him over Delilah being in a chair. I'm so glad that they didn't go with the trope that he was actually dealing the drugs.

Another episode I had little hope for. Dietzen's last foray into channeling Ernest Hemingway wasn't very good and I expected little from this job. It was better than expected, mostly because Gary Cole did a great job with his role. There were some cliched scenes (like throwing the bad guy against a wall with God and everybody watching), but mostly the plot hung together. Unlike some who thought the partner might be the bad guy, I got suckered into thinking it might be the lawyer. I hope that Parker's new-found peace of mind won't change his character too much. I've begun to like the bird-watching, pastry buying team leader they've given us.
