Of course Ducky would know that someone was using one of his own old cover identities.

did anyone know what the title word meant without having to look it up? I didn’t… live and learn, nas, live and learn!
Kompromat is damaging information about a politician, a businessperson, or other public figure, which may be used to create negative publicity, as well as for blackmail, often to exert influence rather than monetary gain, and extortion. Kompromat may be acquired from various security services, or outright forged, and then publicized by use of a public relations official. The word kompromat comes from Russian (Russian: компромат, short for компрометирующий материал "compromising material"). Widespread use of kompromat has been one of the characteristic features of the politics of Russia and other post-Soviet states.
oh, oh - - I know what this is!! he accidentally tells her he’s been doing a Frank Abagnale impression all these years, and she tells him she wants nothing to do with his lyin’ behind! 🤣

I think that the writers had been on strike as they wrote the last several episodes...

🤔 I wonder why “whoever” stopped listing the episode’s guest actors names, and only list the episode writer and director… it only took a few minutes to find the actor who played “Yuri” after his name appeared in the opening credits - after all, there were only 3 names listed, but I still miss the the entire cast lineup in the press release…
that said, the actor who portrayed Yuri is Themo Melikidze, a native of Tbilisi, Georgia…
www.imdb.com/name/nm6183987/mediaviewer/rm882196224/
I mention him because he played his part so well, in addition to having the most mesmerizing eyes I have seen on a guy in a very long time! 😍 (not the eye-scan photo, but in the interrogation room…)
o.k., enough of my juvenile school girl comment…
but speaking of juvenile, I do so wish NCIS would stop writing scenes involving “romantic situations” as if the team, et al, were 12-14 year old kids, and not adults… it’s just so annoying to hear grown people talk as if they were in junior high… but they have done this for as long as I can remember - going back to the Tiva days…
the episode was o.k. other than the aforementioned, I actually couldn’t find anything else that annoyed me - - except when Parker dropped that perfectly good cannoli on his desk when he got up to leave for D.C.!! you don’t treat cannoli like that!! 😖 😱 fortunely Jess had the good sense to take the rest of them with her… 😊

I also didn't find a whole lot that annoyed me in this one. Will give some spoiler space for those who haven't seen it yet..
SPOILERS LURK BELOW. ENTER AT YE OWN RISK!

I'll just start off first with the thing that annoyed me first. Kasie mentioned it, but I will also. Why do they keep these sort of "romantic" relations at a jr. high school level? Especially Jimmy who seems to have decent people skills and has been married before. And I know the office thing was supposed to be funny and light-hearted and such, but to me it just seemed cringeworthy. And unprofessional at that. But whatever. I should expect this sort of thing after all these years of watching how the NCIS writers handle romantic relationships on the show. The other thing that kind of annoyed me was again some sort of nebulous "super duper!" threat. In a prior episode, it was this de-encryption thingie that could break every password ever! (think it was developed by Delilah). And now it is some sort of "super duper!" weapon that was developed in the 1980's. We already have an H-bomb. What could be worse? Maybe some sort of "super duper!" death ray that is going to be fired from satellites or something? But again..whatever.
Everything else seemed OK or seemed to work for me. Good to see Ducky again. And of course his a nod to his alter ego name once again. I expected state department lawyer to be sketchy. I would have liked to have seen Vance's "big men" toss that dude out of NCIS headquarters on his ear. I liked all the Russian spies though. The actors who played them all were very good I thought. And I think Senator Pastry Lady is compromised. Either she is being blackmailed or she really is a Russian asset. I think she was just using Parker for cover. And maybe feeding the Russians info on their investigation. Which is why they were moving so fast to off their sleeper spies. Wonder if we will ever know for sure what her role is/was.
All in all, I give this one a solid "B". Decent, but not great. But better than the last couple of episodes or so. I just have 2 wishes for the season finale:
1. Don't suck.
2. Don't be a stupid cliffhanger.
If I get 1 out of those 2, I will be happy.

I thought that I caught another anachronism, but I would have to go back and check again. The "Top Secret File of Russian Defectors" was said to be dated, I thought, 1985... But Ducky said that Ilya Sokolov/Ivan Kuryakin defected after the Berlin Wall fell... Or was I not paying close enough attention, distracted by the "goofballs in love" main story.
As a side note - NCIS/LA used the Sokolov family name in their penultimate episode this week, also...

Again, I want to note a few things that are not just a rehash of the plot. As with last week, I liked the camera work in interrogation. This time straight on shots concentrating on the eyes of both Parker and the Senator. And earlier the emphasis on the devil-may-care attitude of the Russian. Effective and much of it done without words. Having said that, I hope this is the end of the arc with the Senator. We've had 2 female Senators in 2 weeks, and that's quite enough. As usual, the writers can't keep from going overboard when dealing with a member of another Federal Agency. The State Department guy was just too much, although I did like the deputy who had a daughter the same age. Nice little touch. Good for Knight and Palmer, but maybe it could have been toned down a little. As we go along next season, I hope they don't make their relationship run into too many shoals. It always seems to work that way on NCIS. Maybe for a change, someone could just be happy. Of course, any Ducky sighting is welcome. Did anyone else notice the slurring (I don't know if that's the correct term) of his speech? I trust David McCallum is OK. As for the basic plot, other than reconnecting with Delilah's old aide, who I enjoyed seeing again, can't say much about the plot because I have no idea where they're going with it. I suppose I'll have to wait for next week; and pray I don't have to wait until next season because it's a cliffhanger. Enough with those already.

Yeah, David McCallum is definitely looking older these days. But I was able to understand him still just fine. Though I think he's turning 90 this year, isn't he? We all can't age as gracefully as William Shatner. Still good to see him though.
One more annoyance I did forget to mention. And if I'm wrong about this, let me know. But it seemed like during the episode the writers were confusing iris (almost typed "irish!") scans wish retinal scans. In the episode didn't they show a blow up of the senator's eye, featuring the iris? I'd have to watch it again but it seemed like they were saying, "Oh yeah, I can totally understand how they could get the senator's eye scan now!" You'd think though that they would use retinal scans. And that would be a heck of a lot harder to duplicate just blowing up a photo of someone's eyeball.
Otherwise I'd think they would ban photographing people who have eyeball scans on record. "Sorry folks, I can't be included in this family photo. I have a top secret security clearance and someone might use my iris scan to get into a classified document library!"
