I guess I'll give them credit for coming straight out and calling it a pissing match, and the end scene implied they were heavily shipping those two. The two secondaries were both more likeable though I got the feeling there's some will they/won't they planned. I really hope they won't go straight into a soap opera, but that was the vibe I got. I'm wondering if the helicopter piloting will continue to come into play, but most likely it was just for the pilot as I'm sure that was a rather expensive scene. I'm not sure on the model, but a military copter that size should have been able to capsize the small boat in seconds. And I know how product placement works and all, but an Aussie buying a case of Budweiser?

the writers are gonna have to move fast if they plan to cover all the storylines they’re throwing out in the first episode… I was actually wondering how many episodes there would be in Season 1, and this was what I found:
hiddenremote.com/2023/11/13/how-many-episodes-are-in-ncis-sydney-on-cbs/
btw, I went to IMDb to read the User Reviews of the show and of the 22 reviews written most of them were negative - tough audience! we were much kinder than they were…
here’s a sample: 1/10 Horrific lmas9715 November 2023
Similar to the previous review-knew the show was horrible after the first five minutes and meeting agent Mackey. The casting team did a poor job. Realizing she's an actress portraying a character, it was still unbearable to watch the scowl on her face, her bad attitude, and the clenching of her teeth when she spoke. Other characters seemed okay. But can't watch again with Mackey. I could not even finish watching the episode. It's a shame. I was looking forward to a new series after NCIS LA just ended last season. This series in Sydney does not have a chance of making it, if changes aren't made quickly.oddly enough, Maxine noticed that teeth clenching thing also - she thought it was rather annoying to see her talk like that…

nas Before the episode aired I said from the preview that she was making an unsuccessful attempt at being like Gina Torres (Suits, Firefly, two of the Matrix movies). The clenched teeth reminds me more of an old Happy Days episode where Fonz is trying to teach Richie to act tough.
There was also one huge plot hole that didn't occur to me until the next day - the first sailor that died from the radiation was from the submarine, but it led to checking the ship for leaks. Seems like they'd want to look at the submarine.

I bet the clenched teeth didn’t work any better for Richie than it did for Mackey, eh Hari? 😅
carrier, submarine… ship, boat…
now why should the writers be bothered with a little thing like details, Hari? 🤷♀️

nas If memory serves (and it's been a few decades), it worked on Fonzie's girl of the day but not on the guys who were harassing Richie.
And yeah, it's not like the terms for vessels were clearly stated in the episode. Best I can do for a reference would be an old WKRP episode where some terrorist organization planted a bomb and they evacuated and searched the station offices but the bomb was at the transmitter where they sent the DJ's for 'safety'.
