Today is the day! The prospect of hearing and seeing a glimpse of Mark Harmon has gotten me excited and brings me back to the NCIS fold! I’m so excited for this show!

So...did anyone here see Origins on Monday? (or stream it later?)
Right now it just doesn't interest me. Especially since I don't think the actor playing Gibbs resembles him at all. Just kinda wondered if anyone did see it and what your thoughts on Origins are.

I watched it & it was okay. They didn’t didn’t need 2 hours to introduce the show. It seemed to drag out. I’m still trying to picture Gibbs looking like that too. I kind of lost interest when it went to “it’s all about her”. Hoping it’s not a love interest thing but she gets killed & it reminds him of Shannon’s death. But I’ll give it a few episodes before I make my decision.

Things I liked about "Origins": 1. The familiarity of the squad room. There were desks, four investigators, three of the investigators were male, the big boss had an office upstairs (ala Vance). 2. They had Gibbs' dialogue down pretty well from the beginning, all 8 words of it. 3. The reminder that Gibbs was a Marine sniper. That's been used a lot in the original series and it's nice to see it being used in the new one. 4. I had liked Vera in the original series with her one episode. It was nice that they remembered to add her. 5. The guy doing Mike Franks is doing a good job getting the character down. 6. We're used to an autopsy guy and a forensic girl. We get both, although both characters are male in Origins. And the secretary as a regular was a nice addition. Things I didn't like: 1. Going back to Vera. I wanted her to have a larger role and that, apparently, isn't going to happen. 2. Liked the reminders of life in the 1990s (vhs tape, computers that had to warm up), but am afraid they're going to run the trope into the ground. 3. The younger guy comes across too bouncy. Tone him down, please. 4. Couldn't stand the main woman. I'd like to see her replaced by Vera as quick as possible. I'm not holding my breath. 5. Wasn't impressed with the case, but sometimes I'm not impressed with the case in the original either. Of course, part of that is the fact this is an "introduce the cast" episode which cuts back on case plot.
So that's 6 plus, 5 minus. Not sure it that's enough to make it worth seeing or enough to turn it off. I'm willing to give it another try.

as I said before, I didn’t plan to watch the series - and I didn’t…
but I did go to IMDb to read the User Reviews about it… at this time there are 22 reviews ranging from 2 to 10…
if you’re interested, you should go over there and check it out; you’ll get the opinions of people other than the few of us on this board…

Verdun. Agreed about the Mike Frank’s character. The actor is doing a great job. I’m not too thrilled with Lala either. Hoping Gibbs says its about "her" wondering if she gets killed which reminds him of Shannon's death & not as a love interest then Vera joins the team??

Thanks for the replies.
I heard someone else around here say they watched and generally thought it was decent. And that the guy who played Franks had his mannerisms down pat. So maybe I will tune in at some point.

I thought the first two episodes were good. It's definitely a darker tone than NCIS. The actor playing Franks is spot on (almost eerily so.) I like Probie Gibbs and the actor is doing really well at showing him as a broken man. But as with every new show, I need to see a few episodes before I can make up my mind on whether the show as a whole is good. Either way, I'll watch this week and see what happens.

Hi, guys!
I know I haven't been around here in years, but I wanted ya'll to know, even though I haven't watched NCIS proper in a long long while (aside from the last half season when Gibbs left, *after* I learned he left) I did, somehow, get sucked into "Origins" and I am bothered by how much I am enjoying it. Also, I am annoyed about how much I am NOT hating Michael Franks being on screen because I remember how much we all hated his face. Some of the canon inconsistencies are bothering me but it's nothing I can't look past.
Also, this show made me miss all of you!

Since it seems like there's some interest in discussing the show, should I set up a section to discuss each episode? Or are we ok with one run-on thread?
