I'm back to mixed feelings about Bull. Tonight's episode was, in my humble opinion, weak, very weak. The Hot girl that always attracts Bull's attention, almost always a brunette, and almost always as tall as Weatherly, is getting way to cliche and borderline (VSA Tony DiNozzo). Personally I would prefer if they got him back with his Ex. I know, no real conflict there for the overall story, and eliminates the motivation to flirt. But it would be a stable relationship, which I'm beginning to think CBS is adverse to.
Clearly Benny is in trouble. {The above spoiler combined with tonight's episode let us know that} I'm wondering if they are thinking of replacing Rodriguez with Dena Tyler (Liberty Davis). I wouldn't mind seeing more of her character on the show, but Freddy Rodriguez is really good at what he does and I think the character would be missed.
Also, the adversarial relationship between the Judge and Bull really didn't do much for me. It was clear Judicial misconduct and bias on the part of the Judge which should go to a review board, but the conflict seemed forced and rushed. Then again, the whole episode seemed rushed tonight.
Overall, another poor showing for Bull tonight.

I enjoyed the episode. It wasn't my favorite of the season but I found it interesting. The super compressed time for a case like that was hard to swallow, but hey, it's TV time.
I agree it was a bit rushed. There was so much going on that they didn't have time to really develop the characters. Maybe it should have been a 2 parter. Then again, maybe they should just have fewer commercials!
Benny is really struggling and while I'm suspect Bull knows why, he's not pushing the issue. By not doing as Jason had instructed, Benny put the company in jeopardy. I see why he told him to "get it together".
Very interested to see how things work out.

Bull finished 2nd in overall viewers behind NCIS. Still a hit for CBS. Remember, live viewing isn't all that anymore.
In the recent interview with Michael he revealed the show has been picked up by 200 international markets.

In the recent interview with Michael he revealed the show has been picked up by 200 international markets. I don't doubt that Bull does well in the ratings. I wasn't talking about the ratings when I said "Poor showing". I was talking about the quality of the episode, which, in my opinion, was poor. Rushed, weak, underdeveloped, and poorly executed.
Since it's been renewed for next season I know it's a favorite of CBS and many of it's fans, and while I like the cast, the quality of the story telling is grossly lacking. And the intentional/un-intnetional references/ties to NCIS at the beginning got old very quickly.
Since Elisha Dushku won't be appearing till the first week of May, and since it has been clearly hinted at that Benny will be needing the lawyer, the question becomes, will they build/drag the story out over four more episodes, or will there be a re-run somewhere in there?
I'm hoping the new show runner will do something with this, but since he ran "Moonlighting" I don't have much hope.

I found an article on IMDb. Can't get the link to work. It's under "Related News" on the Bull page. Talks about Elisha Dushku's part being a three episode arch with an option to become a regular in season 2.

The writing staff from Season One. As a woman I'm happy to see they have 7 women on the staff. Glad they're done writing the season in case the WGA strikes before all episodes are written.

WGA?
Writers Guild of America. Remember, they last went on strike in when NCIS was in Season 5 which is why there was a shortened season for the show and other US TV shows that have a traditional season. They settled it in time to able to write for Season 6.

There is actually two Writer's Guilds. The Writer's Guild of America East, and the Writer's Guild of America West. The Mississippi is the dividing line between the two. However, they operate under the same contract and the leadership negotiate together, since many members work cross continental. The divide is simply geographical with head quarters in LA, and NYC for the convenience of members living on the east coast and the west coast. And since "most" writers work out of either New York City, or Los Angeles.
