I keep my car key separate too, ever since I wrecked the key switch on my VW Beetle from hanging too many keys on it.

So this is the new girl? Not impressed. Missing Quinn more and more.
That's funny, Hubby, his Mom, and I all agreed, that Jack has potential and we were all ready to be done with Quinn. Which is funny because her introductory episode, I loved Quinn. They just didn't seem to know how to used her.

That's funny, Hubby, his Mom, and I all agreed, that Jack has potential and we were all ready to be done with Quinn. Which is funny because her introductory episode, I loved Quinn. They just didn't seem to know how to used her. I totally agree! I liked Quinn as well but with her on the team, there just seemed to be one too many. Someone on the team had to go and it looks like she drew the short straw since it didn't seem like they knew what to do with her. Jack's introduction was interesting. I can't imagine she thought it would be a good idea to try to fool Gibbs like that and expect he wasn't going to be mad at her. Even if he hadn't figured out she was an agent when she turned up at his house, was she planning to plead ignorance? That she didn't know she was at his house? That it was a total coincidence? Gibbs has a reputation for being a great investigator, there's no way he wouldn't have figured out it was BS. Her plan had bad idea written on it from the start. I liked how she pushed back against Gibbs when he told her that if she wanted in on his cases, she had to go through him (which seems like common courtesy to me.) I like that she reports to Vance instead of Gibbs. I also like that she softened her rebuttal. Gibbs can't order her around, he can even refuse to work with her (unless Vance overrides him), but he's going to want to work with her because she's good. I think that's something Gibbs can respect.

A few brief thoughts on the episode, after having watched it twice now.
Opening - Twins at a murder mystery party, nice touch, they were pretty good.
Gibbs house in storm - Haven't seen Guy Ross in a while, nice to see him make another appearance. The phone call was real, so either faking the disabled car, running the risk of trouble with the rental company, or possibly slightly sabotaging car, either way, not very smart.
Note - Gibbs still has scar below left eye, and his left knuckle is still swollen and bruised, noticed in first episode, and second.
They totally wasted a guest appearance with Gates McFadden, one lousy scene when they should have given her much more. On the other hand, she played the rich mother B- very well.
Thought Palmer actually looked good in the Bow tie, but glad he decided to ditch it. So happy no singing of "Hamilton" (Hate the sound track to that)
Debt mentioned from long time ago, Vance say's it's paid, Sloan says not even close.
Husband as suspect, scene was poorly done and wasted time.
Elli blow up at Buckner was too over the top.
Buckner's mask falling off to reveal true feelings was a great contrast to Bishop's blow up, nicely done, good contrast, and very believable.
Checked IMDb to see the writing credit, but they have only listed credits for the first two episodes. I mention this because the Jimmy and Abby from episode 1 re-appear in this episode. Hopefully they will list writers for episodes 3 & 4 in a week or two. Would like to see if same writer for Episode 1 also wrote Episode 4.
Overall a better episode than last week, which isn't saying much, but easier to watch a second time.
One last note - Sloan's hair was a mess this episode, at least Quinn's was full bodied, clean, and framed her face well. Sloan's was stringy and dirty looking.

Review of "Skeleton Crew" by Former NCIS Agents Diane and David Munson
2017 Oct 17 Critique of NCIS episode, “Skelton Crew” by Diane and David Munson
Tonight’s episode of NCIS used a Halloween Party (not on a Navy base) as a backdrop to stage the wounding of Navy Lt. Ethan Wynn and the eventual murder of his wife Lt. Helen Wynn. We find ourselves in the Fifteenth season, and it’s getting harder to write realistic scripts. As we’ve pointed out too many times, the NCIS can only investigate crimes that occur on Naval bases. Tonight’s episode involves naval personnel, but occurs in the jurisdiction of what McGee called the “LEOs” or Local Law Enforcement Offices. Yet, there were no police officers involved in the episode.
The reason for that was the fact that Jennifer Corbett the writer, and the producers wanted to introduce two new characters that will be having recurring appearances. With Ducky disappearing from the scene this year and Abby leaving the cast at the end of this season, they’ll need some new cast members. The first is Jack Sloan, a female who shows up unexpectedly at Gibbs’ house. He later learns she is Special Agent Jack Sloan, a forensic psychologist who is transferred from NCIS in California. This makes sense since Ducky had the same degree but is now gone. It’s been reported that SA Sloan will develop into the new love interest for Gibbs.
The second new character is Executive Officer Thomas Buckner of the ship where the murdered Lieutenant was assigned. When Ellie Bishop flies out to the ship to investigate, she discovers to her great surprise that she and Buckner were high school classmates and rivals. Things start rather coldly when Bishop accuses Buckner of being involved in Lt. Wynn’s death. The investigation moves rather quickly to reveal that Lt. Wynn was really murdered by a sailor from the ship as part of a scheme to steal the ship’s funds. By the end of this episode, the difference between Buckner and Bishop seem to evaporate and they agree to an off-duty coffee meeting. Could this be Ellie’s future love interest?
So, it seems the real purpose of tonight’s show was to introduce these two new characters. As the plot develops, it becomes apparent that Gibbs’ is not receptive to having to work with Sloan. Does this portend problems for a future love interest? She’s the right age for the aging Gibbs. Does she look like his type? Since he’s gotten rid of his military hair cut, he’s presenting a new image. Does Mark Harmon still have the acting ability to portray Gibbs as a tough cop who would romance a woman who calls herself Jack? Harmon will have his work cut out for him. To read more about the actor, Maria Bello, click here.
Be Blessed, Diane and David Munson

The phone call was real, so either faking the disabled car, running the risk of trouble with the rental company, or possibly slightly sabotaging car, either way, not very smart. I thought that maybe she would cancel the tow truck once she sized up Gibbs. Or maybe she planned to admit the ruse but didn't because he bolted, leaving her behind to lock up his house. (Side note, I love that he uses the key wallet that he got from his Dad. My grandmother used one of those for her house.) When she made the comment about robbing him blind, all I could think of was: what would you take? Everything is really old! I noticed the scar but didn't notice the knuckle. I'll have to keep an eye out for it next time. I whole-heartedly agree! I wish she had more to her appearance than a cameo. But loved her performance and reaction to McGee getting married in his rented apartment. I always update the first post with the press release, which has the writer and director. This week's episode was written by Jennifer Corbett and directed by Rocky. Have to say, the camera work on the ship was fantastic! It really felt like the ship was in high seas, which is also a kudos to the actors for their performances. If you watch, there isn't a scene where they aren't leaning on or holding onto something to keep their balance. Good thing Gibbs didn't send McGee. He'd have been sick the whole time!

4 different episodes, 4 different writers, perhaps there is a bit of cohesion beginning to form in the writer's room. We can only hope. Now, if we could just get the cannon problems worked out.
Another side note, missed it earlier, but pertains to past discussion concerning Delilah's pregnancy. Tim mentioned a visit to the murder mystery house a month prior. First hint of time jumps now occurring. Subtle, but there.

Be Blessed, Diane and David Munson Local LEO's were involve, in the background conducting interviews. Poor observation skills.
Bello is a known quantity. New love interest for Ellie, that's a new one. Do they know something everyone else doesn't?
Ducky isn't leaving, maybe cutting back on screen time, but not leaving.

The way she "flashed" her ID screamed Law Enforcement. A civilian would have just put out her hand to shake and introduced herself. Also, why wasn't her hair soaked? She didn't have a hood, or an umbrella.
I have to agree with Torres on the masks. Masks and clowns freak me out. But, when one is undercover, you are playing a role. I don't like comedia della arte either - because of the masks!
The second I saw the pagers, I knew they would be useful. Physicians and IT techs still wear pagers because they work when cell phones won't.
Artistic license? Wow, extra snobby! She did a fantastic job with such a small part!
I like how Jimmy realized that he doesn't have to be Ducky - he can make the job his own. Our Jimmy is maturing.
I'm glad the rain didn't mean that our team was in danger.
I know Gibbs' knew who Sloane was, but I think he was surprised at her relationship with Vance.
I'll bet Nick was one of the "in crowd" in school and wasn't bullied.
I still remember my worst tormentor from middle school. Never went to any of my HS reunions. Have no desire to dredge up any of that past BS
When Jack pointed out that whoever tied her up loved her -I immediately went to mom!
I think Ellie did a good job interviewing him. She was the bad cop - Nick was the good cop.
Doesn't engender trust. Hard to work with folks you can't trust!
I have two keys on my key ring, and they are on opposite ends of a separating ring, so when I give the car to the mechanic or the valet, they only get the car key. We have a separate set of keys for each vehicle, and the only key ring that has extra keys on it is the the truck key ring which has the boat trailer key on it. But, seeing that key in the ignition without a key ring on it was very suspicious!
Never suspected Smitty
Suspected him from the beginning
That was a nice, realistic touch. Also liked the part earlier when Thomas said he was intimidated by Ellie. Usually bullies act the way they do because they are threatened in some way.
Those are nasty - most likely has to do with what she believes she owes Vance for. She of course will have her own demons to deal with.
I'm not sure yet.

I watched the episode last night but I was really tired and missed things - I will need to rewatch!
It was strange with no Ducky there but hopefully we get the more mature professional Jimmy and they do away with the awkward Jimmy. That may have been acceptable early in his tenure but come on already.
I also thought that Tim saying he and Delilah had been out a month ago was a way of saying time has passed since he and Gibbs returned.
