wow! just WOW!!
like NewBe, I’m not gonna write any comments for a day or two - I just want to rewatch the ep one more time and gather my thoughts...
Pauley was right when she Tweeted “I did my best work for you.” YES she did!
the last 60 seconds of the episode were soooo poignant ... I will remember them for a very long time...
nas All right, who are you and what did you do with our favorite resident crab??

hypocritical doesn't even begin to describe some of you {fans} she was the most annoying (according to most fans) character on the show, now that she's gone the tears are rolling down like Niagra, I'm just glad I don't have to use the fast forward on my remote anymore. she wanted to move on so let's move on, I'm sure I heard someone else say that once.

Just to start the discussion - what I liked: The Gibbs poker game - liked that he is with other older people. I liked that they got Joe Spano in the episode - he has been there since the beginning too. The Tony phone call, the reference to him, that he and McGee are still in touch, the McNicknames. The flashbacks to the old cases and villains. The flashback with Reeves protecting Abby. The reference to the rules. Abbys home
What I did not like: Reeves dying. I liked the character although he was underutilized and never really got enough exposure. Abby went from critical to home in a day. Abby tricking the team and confronting King herself. I liked the end scene with her co workers.
I thought the end scene with Gibbs, considering the probable cause it was clever.
I though that if Abby lived they would say burn out, post traumatic stress. Very Abby like to memorialize Clayton through charity.
The elephant in the room though - I cannot imagine the working environment on the set with whatever was going on between PP and MH. I really felt bad that even in the last episode the only scene they were in together was when she was supposed to be unconscious. They worked together for 15 years (longer if you consider JAG episodes). That made me feel very sad.
I do feel like with PP and MW gone and Davids role decreased the show is not the same show. It has not been the same for many years anyway with show runners changing and some of the "poor" writing and going against canon but this is symbolic. I have enjoyed this season, liked some of the episodes but it is not the same sharpness of the earlier season, but that has happened with any long term show.
I am glad that so many of PPs coworkers past and present reached out to her on social media. They did a much better send off then they did with MW but he seems to have landed on his feet and is doing well so it makes it a bit easier...
Pauley did a great job - best of luck to her going forward.

I think you are being harsh and really unkind.

We thought the first part was sad, with Clay being dead and Abby comatose, but the whole hitman plot was rather lame in our view. Wouldn't King have known/hired a second guy after the first one failed (and then a third, etc.)? Would he just give up on trying to kill Abby? Much of the rest of it seemed predictable. We felt kinda meh overall, and were hoping for more. On the other hand, Abby either got a really sweet deal or had a bunch of cash tucked away somewhere to afford that place... unless maybe the nuns helped out (or she won side bets with the nuns on bowling nights)

Technically it is "smaller" than Tony's apartment. Her apartment would be considered an efficiency or a studio apartment because it is only one (really big) room. Tony's apartment is (technically) bigger because it is a one bedroom apartment with separate rooms for living, dining, kitchen and bedroom.

First I will deal with the last ten minutes of the episode, starting with Abby in the morgue with Reeves.
The Morgue -
Some of us guessed Reeves would die and Abby live, some of us guessed Abby would die and Reeves would live, some guess both would live, some both would die. Abby's touching conversation with Clayton in the morgue was just that, touching. The emotion felt real and PP did an excellent job.
Abby's lab -
This almost felt as if the audience was privileged to the personal good bye's of the cast bidding PP farewell. Since Torres and Bishop have the shortest tenure on the show, they seemed to be least affected. ( I'm not saying not affected, least) Relationships are built over time, and while there was time to build that relationship, it seemed that both Bishop and Torres were more devastated by Reeve's death than Abby's leaving. Perhaps since Reeves is gone, and Abby is still around. Palmer, McGee, and Ducky understood the weight and gravity of the situation, and it was easily seen in their demeanor. The scene did seem a bit empty without Vance there, but that good-bye would have been done in his office privately.
Gibbs house -
While most fans will probably make several snide comments about the way this was handled, it was actually quite believable. I could easily see this scene having taken place prior to any personal fallout between MH and PP. Abby's resolve would have easily been melted if Gibbs had asked her to stay, and the emotion for both characters would have been overwhelming. The letter, the standing outside to see if he would come to the window, all quite believable [to me]. The flashback to Abby in Gibbs basement when she finds out Gibbs shot Shannon's killer was nice, although I really didn't need any shout outs to Weatherly's departure.
While the episode had its good points and bad, the last ten were well done. I won't say excellent, I'm not sure I can go there, but the producers did well in handling what seems to be, a very difficult season long personal issue between two key actors.
(On a side note about the elephant in the room) - If there is/was an issue between MH and PP, I find it sad to think that two professional actors, who seem to care about the fans, weren't able to put aside their differences to give the fans one scene together.
Be this as it may, this seemed to be a fitting good-bye for a well loved, yet frequently annoying, character who was treated during the run of the show, with a bit of disrespect as far as the silliness went, but did provide an excellent example and dare I say "roll model" for females who have previously shied away from math and science. (although, as a former teacher I can personally attest to the fact that a good teacher who can and will make both subjects interesting in the class room can, and does, have an even greater impact on students, both male and female)
As for as other comments, I will be making those in each of the characters personal threads.

I think you are being harsh and really unkind. I liked Mike Franks, but so many fans said they didn't and were glad when he was killed, was that being harsh or unkind? I think it was, but I realized it was their opinion and didn't jump on them for it because they didn't cry when he died, there was nothing hypocritical in what they said, but Abby is a different story, I respect fans who stick to their beliefs, just like I respected fans that didn't like Franks, it's their right to like or not like whoever they want.

The scene did seem a bit empty without Vance there, but that good-bye would have been done in his office privately. I think you're spot on with your assessment. Pauley posted photos of her last day on set with Sean, Emily, Wilmer, and Brian and it was from the scene in her lab saying her farewells. So not only were the characters saying goodbye to Abby but the actors were sharing their last scene with Pauley too. Sean's performance in last night's episode had me in tears both when he was begging for Abby to wake up in the hospital and during his farewell. You could tell it was coming from a genuine place where he was saying farewell to a close friend and frequent scene partner.
With regards to Reeves, I don't think that Sean/McGee was ever shown as reacting to Clay's death. And while the two characters had a good working relationship, McGee and Reeves didn't have the friendship that Bishop and Reeves had or the brotherly one-upmanship that Torres and Reeves had. And unfortunately, they just didn't have enough time to really expand and how everyone's reaction to Clay's death. Plus I think you're right that Abby leaving just doesn't mean quite as much to Bishop and Torres as it does to McGee, Palmer and Ducky.
My main complaint about this episode was that it should have been two episodes. Abby's recovery, her conclusion that she was going to leave NCIS to honor the man who saved her, figuring out someone had put a hit out on Abby and finding him should have been a two episode story arc in its own right. I don't mind how they wrote Abby out but I felt like we needed more to do both characters and the storyline justice. While most fans will probably make several snide comments about the way this was handled, it was actually quite believable. I could easily see this scene having taken place prior to any personal fallout between MH and PP. I agree with everything you said here. It is sad that the two actors (for whatever reason) couldn't bring themselves to share one final scene together. On second viewing, I'm almost certain that Pauley and Mark were not in the same place at the same time. In the hospital, you couldn't see both actor's faces at the same time and it very well could have been that body doubles were used when they were filming.
Having said that, you're absolutely right that Abby would have stayed if Gibbs had asked. But I don't think Gibbs would have asked. He would have respected Abby's desire to leave to honor the man who saved her life.

still believe PP pissed someone off, writers, directors, show runners, Mark, payroll, that episode after 15 years on the show, the beloved Abby was shown the door, here's your hat what's your hurry, don't let the elevator stop on the wrong floor, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, no goodbye with director Vance? no long goodbye with her long time buddy Gibbs Gibbs Gibbs Gibbs Gibbs? the rest of the cast other McGee with his soap opera acting, didn't seem too upset with her leaving, something got rotten in Denmark on that show with her, and I bet it was m-o-n-e-y
but I for one am glad she's gone and I don't care who replaces her, it could be daffy duck and I wouldn't mind
