Sneak Peek #1
Sneak Peek #2 When it's well done, the making Gibbs and Fornell look like a bickering married couple is fun. When it isn't well done it goes overboard and isn't funny. Guess which of those I found peek #2 to be...

re #1: what is this?? I definitely can do without Torres doing his Chippendale's dancer impression! I guess this is the writers idea of the "build up" to Torres & Bishop doing the "horizontal mambo", eh? I can hardly wait!!
re#2: don't those guys know what hotels are for? in my house uninvited guests are not welcome - Maxine shows 'em the door before they can get into the living room! (of course, if they had gone to a hotel then there wouldn't be a storyline about the 3 old farts up in the woods now would there?)
something tells me I'm not gonna' be too happy with this episode tonite...

Not a bad episode. Not the best ever, but not bad. The third wheel worked, and the ending was nice.
Not sure how I like Jack's friend, and why didn't Fornell recognize the former FBI agent? I though he was a high enough on the agency poll to know who was who in the DC. agency.
Nick is getting on my nerves a bit. Too much like Tony, but when they have him in agent mode he is good.
Bishop has started becoming an after thought, there really doesn't seem to be much use for her, other than something for Torrez to flirt with.
Kacy isn't growing on me. I'll give them credit for toning her down a bit, but I'm just not buying into her. Still wished they had gone a different direction with that part.
Over all not bad.

Grade = C again this week. I just didn’t find it engaging.
Fornell and whatshisface acting like 13 year old girls who don’t like each other but claim a 3rd girl as their best friend had me rolling my eyes.
Case didn’t engage me.
Torres and Bishop have zero chemistry.

just about to watch the episode here in AZ, but I’m already agreeing with you, NewBe...
why do they think it’s humorous to have grown men act like silly little girls? what is so funny about that?
you and I have already expressed our opinion that there is ZERO chemistry between Torres & Bishop, but TPTB (and writers) are determined to push this “‘ship” down our throats... 😝
maybe I’ll write more after I watch the ep - or not...

nas Add my agreement about Fornell and Brooks. I'm hoping Brooks never appears again, but the writers probably think they're providing a laugh riot and will have him join Fornell's private investigation company and be there every time Fornell shows up from now on.
pdsmith777, if the former agent was keeping an eye on the 9 finger man, she was probably doing it in North Carolina where he was located before he got on the plane.

this ‘n’ that - in no particular order:
1) two swigs of booze out of a pint bottle, and Phil gets “drunk”? what a lightweight!
2) another “crime” that involves a relatively small amount of $$$... the writers have got to start thinking in bigger numbers!!
3) what are the odds the criminals would wind up “right around the corner” from Gibbs’ cabin? pretty far-fetched, imho...
4) silly adult males do not entertain me! (Maxine does not tolerate fools either)
5) for the record: surfing in Bora Bora is practically nonexistent! beautiful water! gorgeous tropical fish! great diving! but waves for surfing? um, not so much... the writers really should do their homework...
6) Torres is not sexy! even with his tight t-shirt...
7) “Ka-Ka” made me laugh with her “dead pancake” line... she isn’t the mature adult Asian female I was hoping for, but she’s doing o.k. so far...

1. I'm pretty sure Fornell mentioned that. 2. This one I didn't have too big of a problem with. $350K would last pretty good in South America and if the car had been carrying over a million there would have been another guard. 3. That's the established Gibbs magic. Same as him happening to call just as McGee was ready to call him. 5. I'd love to do some personal research for them on the location. But I'd say it was worse that they put in the references to Point Break and somehow still mispronounced the name - Bodhi, pronounced bode-eye rather than bode-ee. That could possibly be the actresses rather than the writers, but I remembered it and I don't think I watched it a second time since seeing it in the theater back in '91 (double feature with Bill&Ted2).

I didn't find Phil Brooks funny the first time he was around, and I still don't find him funny at all.
Please don't give the writers ideas how to keep Phil around....

Jack said that no one goes to Bora Bora for the surfing when she was talking to Ellie in her office, so I think the writers covered that point. I'm pretty sure that Jack came from San Diego just like Izzy so they probably did their surfing there.
I have to agree that the bickering between Fornell and Phil wasn't that funny. They could have easily accomplished this episode without Phil and it probably would have been just as good. Fornell has proved that he's more than capable of annoying Gibbs on his own without help from a 'third wheel.' Although, to be honest, the bickering wasn't as annoying the second time through the episode. Overall, it was a fairly straight forward episode but still very enjoyable.
Things I did like: 1. While the cat is away, the mice will play. It was nice seeing McGee, Ellie and Torres relaxed at the office. The bit with the crossword puzzle was funny. Six letter word for anxiety, ends with S. Gibbs. Doesn't fit. Stress. Same thing.
2. Jimmy calling McGee back to help usher Ducky out of autopsy. I realize that they needed an excuse for David to not be in every episode but it also shows that while Jimmy likes having Ducky around, he also likes being in charge. And he doesn't like having a backseat ME. Although it was a little creepy that McGee managed to lure Ducky into the trip with the promise of groupies, I can totally see Ducky enjoying sharing his book and experiences with young enthusiastic people who haven't heard all his stories yet.
2a. I laughed out loud when Tim told Jimmy that Gibbs would have murdered him if he'd have used Gibbs to distract Ducky and Jimmy responded that McGee is nicer. Both Sean's and Brian's expressions were perfect.
3. The scene with McGee in MTAC trying to find out if their former FBI agent was on the plane, kinda reminded me of his 'stick it' moment from Chained. Always nice to see how much McGee has grown as an agent over the years.
4. I really enjoyed Kasie. Like Nas, I laughed at the dead pancake line. She's quirky but not over the top and she's fun. I'm glad they've toned her down from her first few episodes and I'm looking forward to her growing as a character on the show.
Not sure how I like Jack's friend, and why didn't Fornell recognize the former FBI agent? I though he was a high enough on the agency poll to know who was who in the DC. agency.
Nick is getting on my nerves a bit. Too much like Tony, but when they have him in agent mode he is good.
I didn't really care for Izzy. She was really annoying. She might be fun at karaoke night but I would not want to be around her any other time. In fact, I would be thrilled to never see her again. Didn't they say the case of our dead nine-fingered man started in California? That would have made the FBI agent accomplice a California agent but that was before she quit the agency to move in with him. Given that Fornell has been in DC his whole career, I'm not surprised he didn't know her. A quick google search tells me that there are over 13,000 special agents so it isn't unreasonable that he didn't know her and vice-versa.
I really didn't like Nick's dancing. I know that Nick and Ellie are friends but gyrating hips like that in the office is borderline sexual harassment, especially since he was standing right next to her. Had he done his little dance at his desk, it wouldn't have been so bad. As for the 'shipping' between these too. I get the feeling that the 'relationship' is one-sided. I feel like Nick is interested in Ellie but Ellie sees Nick more as a friend/partner than as a boyfriend.
