honestly, sometimes I wonder why I even bother to write something; feels like a waste of my “retirement time”... 😕
nasOut of interest at 8.30 am UK time I looked at the membership list 17 of us had been online in the past 24 hours. I don't often post my thoughts on the episode because the ones that are posted feel "hostile" so I keep my thoughts to myself about the episode, I do play a fun game of guessing what is going to be said and by whom though. Lots of people seem not to have been around since 2017. I did not count how many members we actually have that still look like they at least come and look at anytime this year. So are still "active". We know David is in the next episode and I'd hope (ducks the Tony and Abby fans) they would do a good send off for him in an episode, if he were truly not going to make cameo appearances, but just not be the ME of NCIS. I'd rather have him, say three episodes a year but as the main story runner.

I haven't had time to watch it. Been getting ready for vacation to Sin city. But now that am pretty much set for the trip I will take time and watch it.

I'd rather have him, say three episodes a year but as the main story runner. Overall, the episode was mostly boring for me. My biggest problem was the way they treated Ducky - first to be told to keep his hands off, then say he doesn't belong anymore, then to be Senior's date. If that's the sort of appearance he's going to have on the show, then I'd rather not have him there; just leave the memory of the real Ducky intact. Jimmy's father in law is a worse character than Senior. I really hope we never ever see him again.

I totally agree with you on both counts, Hari...
the way they’re treating D Mc’s character is pitiful; it’s like they’ve decided to sweep him under the rug and are handing the “NCIS Chief ME baton” over to “Doctor Palmer”, who really isn’t - - oh well, never mind..... 😕
you know how I’ve always felt about RJWagner and his character, so I don’t know if Palmer’s father-in-law is worse than SR., but he’s pretty bad... the writers of this episode depicted him as immoral and criminal - an all around awful human being... however, at the end of the episode they had him walking “scot free”! in reality (there’s that word again), he would probably have lost his license and faced criminal charges for what he did to the victim’s body (and why he did it)... but hey, who are we to question the writers, right? imho, their heads are really screwed on all wrong! 😖

The plot wandered a lot. It took forever to have any idea of what was going on and then the villain shows up only at the end. Frankly, I thought the entire thing was kind of silly. Having said that, I was reminded that Palmer is a pretty fair actor when they give him a chance. Wish they'd do it a bit more often. I hope that Ducky isn't really leaving. I'd much rather he take on a role like Vance in that he shows up a handful of times and is missing several episodes (sort of what's going on now) rather than see him leave entirely. I thought they used DiNozzo, Sr. about right for a change. He had a function but wasn't front and center to the plot. That works best for him now that Tony is no longer around. Hope that Ed is not going to become like DiNozzo, Sr. and show up once a season.

As far as the legal case, Jimmy's FIL belongs in jail and minus a license to practice. Why a "bear attack"? Good grief!
As far as a study in how far someone is willing to go to protect family, I thought this on had "some" merit. Heaven knows, there is plenty in the news right now, on the topic. It was intriguing to hear a bit about Palmer's background and I hope the writers bring Breena back.
I enjoyed the discussion Ducky had with DiNozzo Sr about reinventing oneself. Ducky is smart enough to filter the answer and salt it well. If this is DMcC's last season on NCIS I hope he gets a better send off than others have.

Overall, the episode was meh. I had no problem with Tony Sr. being in it. As for consequences , it can be argued in Jimmy's case he came clean on his own so he shouldn't be punished too harshly. In Ed's case, he was forced to do it because the bad guy was holding his son hostage. While he committed criminal acts, in the real world his son being held hostage and threatened with death would be a mitigating factor along with the fact he has no prior criminal record. Ed would've have most likely not have gotten jail time but instead get probation and a suspension of his license for a period of time.

So episode #2 of my catch up on NCIS ...
Not good, because their were no consequences for lying or even with Ed for tampering with the body and covering up ... the Gibbs of season 1 or 2 would have responded much differently ...
This pretty much sums up much of what I feel - hit the nail on the head.
I agree NewBe - I am watching and reading or doing other things then I have to go back to see what I missed. One of the reasons I am a little behind is because I wanted to watch the show without reading or flipping through social media or whatever else is splitting my attention, which is what I have done the last two episodes. But in the earlier seasons I would not even have tried to watch without paying complete attention, I would have missed things. NCIS in its late seasons has been like other long running shows I followed (M*A*S*H and NYPD Blue are two that come to mind) just not as crisp and fresh and mesmorizing at the end as they were in the early seasons. I am still interested and will continue to watch and see how it all winds up but it is not the same....
Now on to the next episode...
