15 minutes in and they couldn't be following they typical amnesia dead body trope any closer if they put the step numbers on the screen. Kind of boring, really.
Edit: Ok, episode over and the Torres story was as predictable as I thought. I also thought Vance seemed to be on to the girl at the start, but was misdirected by the necklace as much as she was. We already knew the SecDef was dirty, but now it seems he's even dirtier than expected. The only thing that can save that arc would be if SecDef is really Kort in one of those super advanced masks.

The old diamonds in the fish tank plot...
They used that on an episode of the low budget, Jack Webb series DRAGNET in the late '60's.

they must have edited out the scene in the end where Director Vance says: “Hey, it’s a dirty job, but somebody’s gotta do it.”
Leon! you dawg!! 😉
the rest of the episode re Torres storyline was a bit of a stretch, but it was o.k.... I was actually kinda moved in the end when he & Bishop had their “showdown”... when she said, “Wouldn’t you have done the same thing?”, and he said, “No, I wouldn’t.”
WV did a good job of acting confused, traumatized and angry in a low key sorta way...
btw, I guess he’s got a little more work to do on his “bi’s & tri’s” before he looks like LLCoolJ...

nas 1. The sacrifices he makes for the job... Much more professional than Tony with Jeanne. 2. Hopefully it puts a damper on the shipping for a while. 3. More like JJ Fad...

I also saw it on "Death in Paradise" and something similar on "New Tricks", and "Elementary" used a twist on it with the stones hidden in jars as decorations around an apartment.

Here we go again with the NCIS is investigating the government or the government is investigating NCIS. Enough already. Find something new.

I agree. Wilmer did a great job last night. I was expecting him to be over the top, brash and angry about the situation but like you said, he kept it understated.
With the way all the evidence was stacked against Torres, I knew it was only a matter of time until they figured out who had set him up. The ending was predictable but I thought that the way they gradually revealed more and more information over the course of the episode was enjoyable.
It's interesting that Ellie was the one who questioned whether Nick could have killed the woman. Clearly that was meant to drive a wedge into their friendship (or whatever it is that they're trying to form between those two. I'm still convinced that this is a one-sided relationship: Torres is interested and Bishop is oblivious.) And Ellie was right. There was a lot of evidence against Torres and the question should have been asked. Even if he had killed her, that doesn't mean it hadn't been done in self-defense.
I'm also glad that Vance was onto the CIA lady. I had a feeling that was the case when he showed Jack the necklace and it was gratifying to see that I was right. Considering our past experiences with the CIA and that we saw Agent Mayhem talking to the Sec Def, I'm not sure if I believe him and his 'burning building' story. I'd like to think that Gibbs and Vance are going to be just as distrustful considering that the guy spent six months spying on Vance. It's already been shown that the Sec Def is a little shady but the jury is out on the CIA guy. Either way, it's an interesting set up to what is going to be the end of season story line.
One thing did kinda bug me. After extracting the bullet, I don't think it was ever mentioned again. Was it from Torres' weapon? Speaking of, where was Torres' weapon? It was never mentioned but he should have had it on him when he left NCIS. No one asked if he still had it or seemed to think to test it to see if it had been fired.
All in all, pretty good episode with an intriguing preview for next week.

All in all, pretty good episode with an intriguing preview for next week. I too agree that Wilmer did a fantastic job. He was on a slow burn, and was starting to doubt himself. There was a great deal of evidence against Nick, but there was just way too much, and it was too neatly wrapped up with a bow. But, Ellie was right to ask the question, especially after that photo of Nick and the dead woman turned up. What else didn't Nick remember? What did happen to Nick's weapon? The slug was a bit of a red herring. No one did a gunpowder residue test on Nick to see if he fired a weapon.
When we first saw Mallory with Agent Mayhem (I can't remember his character's name - I just like "Agent Mayhem"), my husband said out loud "Poor Leon". I really didn't think Leon was on to them. I do hope, like Llyan, that Gibbs and Vance will continue to distrust Agent Mayhem, especially since we don't know if Mayhem turned over everything he knows about Leon to Sec Def. I still feel bad for Leon, though.
I think Wilmer did a great job of showing how hurt Nick was at having the woman that he loved not give him the benefit of the doubt. Good thing he finally decided to talk to Jack.
Before Gibbs pulled out the net, my spouse called the diamonds in the fish tank. I know that has been lots of times on other shows. And of course, the Commander was another red herring, as the sharks are an expensive hobby.
Overall, I enjoyed the episode. (And I was right about the song - just a different version. Apparently Lil Wayne has a less-family friendly version of the song)

Another thought I had about this episode - How long has Leon known about what Mallory was up to? From day 1? After they started dating?

just want to set y’all straight on something:
”Agent Mayhem” is not Scott Winters (who portrays the CIA Agent)... “Agent Mayhem” is played by his brother, Dean Winters, who is also an actor from Oz and Law & Order: SVU fame...
I don’t know if Scott really likes being confused with his brother Dean and connected to those commercials, but I’m sure he’d like the $$$...
I read an article that said Dean Winters is one of the highest paid commercial actors in the business, and that he makes more dinero from that job than he has made from his acting gigs...
regarding Torres’ weapon - or lack thereof: that episode covered a lot of ground in 44 minutes for the 2 storylines that were running, so they didn’t address the gun or the bullet... I wish they had because it was a glaring omission that really would have/should have been considered right up front, imo...

Nas, I realize that he's not actually Agent Mayhem. You can tell that they're brothers but there's enough of difference between them that you can see they aren't the same person. Chalk that one up to be me being too lazy to type Agent Mayhem's brother in my original post.
But I also have a feeling that it may be an apt nickname for his character in the coming episodes.

I liked the episode. I agree the the previous comments about WV's performance. It reminded me of his first year when he was a darker character. That Torres was nice to watch.
I also liked the way they used Ducky in this episode. His new office was pretty nice looking, and I liked the way they have kept Palmer's playful side present even though he is now the ME.
And, I like the "Agent Mayhem" moniker, reminds me of CIRay.

Nas, I know that Scott William Winters is not Dean Winters, but since they are brothers, and they do look quite a bit alike (IMHO), and we don't know what agent Clark is really up to (as the CIA is always up to no good in NCIS), I call him Agent Mayhem. I think it is funny. If you don't share my sense of humor, that's ok.
