I really liked this episode. Still wish that McGee was made Team Leader. Loved the scene with Ducky & Jimmy. Loved Kasie with Parker… shoot don’t negotiate. & had know idea who the bad guy was. I thought the ending with the new people was perfect. I actually like Parker in this episode & think he’ll fit in well.

I've watched the episode twice now. While the first four episodes were focused on Gibbs saying good-bye and the case simply being a vehicle for him to do that, this episode focused on the case, with the introduction of Parker being the back story.
It was cleaver writing, working Parker in, telling why McGee didn't get the position, having Torres brood more, and the confrontation between Parker and Kasey was good, although I think Gibbs shot too fast.
Palmer again annoyed me at times this episode, which is beginning to become a theme with the show. I like him better when he's serious and they aren't forcing him to be comic relief, though he does it well, it's getting to be too much.
It was nice to see Ducky in Autopsy, but you can see David's age playing on his ability to do his job. I get the feeling that he will be stepping aside permanently soon. With Harmon gone, the connection isn't there for me anymore.
If the writing and story telling remains strong like this episode, then I can see the series regaining it's footing again. Possibly picking up a new audience, one that isn't married to the original members of the cast. I could watch this team solve crimes for a few years to come.

I cannot write anything about this episode... I am so upset that I’m at a loss for words!
suffice it to say that the scene with Ducky & Jimmy and the moronic pacemaker character put the icing on the cake! it was total B.S.!!!! 😡
take what you will from this post, but I have nothing more to say...

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season progresses without Gibbs.

Loved 1 Simon & Garfunkel reunion tour 2. Why McGee didn’t want job 3. If you want a private conversation do it in the elevator not the men’s room 4 DUCKY mentoring Palmer 5 Shoot don’t negotiate 6 Helen’s unveiling and her doofus boyfriend(suspects) 7. A good old fashion stand alone episode 8. That Parker was trying to be diplomatic. Not controlling.

For the most part I enjoyed the episode. I liked Parker and thought McGee's explanation of why he did not want the promotion was plausible...
The glaring issue was the autopsy pacemaker scene ... that was so over the top it was ridiculous.

I was prepared to not particularly like this episode, but was pleasantly surprised with the plot and the acting. If they work it right, this cast could be fine. Am liking the new female lead better and better (someone is writing the role very well). Still don't like Casey, but the scene with Parker worked well. Parker is no Gibbs and that's a good thing. A similar, but slightly different role is good for the show. It's interesting that Harmon still leads off the opening credits. I don't know if that's a sign of his return on occasion of a sign of laziness in updating the credits. Has anyone seen any info on ratings? I wonder how the show is doing, especially this episode vs the "Bye-Bye Gibbs" episodes.

Well I actually enjoyed the episode. I thought Parker was written well. I thought that ducky's speech to Jimmy was spot on. I was surprised that Mark's picture was still first in the credits but I have a feeling that's because he still EP. I have seen in other areas that it is positive reactions mixed with everything else. If it continues to hold my interest I will stick with it and if it doesn't I will do what i always do turn it off and watch something else or wait for the next episode. I have been making that my policy for years.

I enjoyed the show. I will continue to watch even with Mark Harmon/LJ Gibbs no longer on. I find it odd that people are saying they won't watch because Gibbs is gone. It's not like he was fired he decided to retire. At times I did not like Gibbs, his barking orders without further explanation of what he wanted.
I thought CSI wouldn't survive after Grissom left. I was almost correct, but once Langston left the show a terrible bad fit and DB Russell took over the show returned to a very watchable state.
Shows change, I change, I don't have any answers for the world, I just enjoy NCIS.
It would have been nice if Harmon had canceled the Mothership and kept NOLA going for another couple of years, but either way, I'm good.

Sounds like I'm the only one who thought the McGee's reasons for not taking lead were BS. The long hours is valid since Gibbs was typically settling in when the others were leaving, but there were plenty of references to Gibbs not doing paperwork and Gibbs spent plenty of time out in the field. I really liked the look of confusion on Parker when McGee suggested the stopped elevator.
The pacemaker explosive was definite BS - at that size, to make an explosion that big would require a miniature hydrogen bomb. They did the lottery thing back in the short lived series, 'The Net', but I have to ask one thing. Do any states have lotteries that are just numbers generated by a computer? Every real life lottery drawing I have ever seen uses the ping pong balls with numbers on them.
