For those not versed in Trek, the Stargazer was also a trap in TNG. It had been the first ship the captain had commanded and was captured by an enemy. In an uncharacteristic gesture, that enemy offered the return of the Stargazer to the captain, which was accepted, except the enemy had planted a mind control device on the ship which activated while the captain was over there alone (which would never really be allowed realistically) and made him attack his own ship. Outside of being a trap, I have no idea if that stuff will be pertinent to the episode, but I figured I'd give the background.

Well considering the previews, the name seems appropriate! Even more so if the reason behind luring NCIS to the ship was for revenge.

The picks of favorites were rather stereotypical - the eldest likes the old series, the next in line likes The Next Generation, the black leader likes the series with the black leader (DS9), the female likes the series with the female captain (Voyager), and the geekiest male likes 7 of 9.

Always was a Star Trek fan over Star Wars, so I had a good time checking out all the Star Trek references. For a change the plot didn't involve a murder (although one of the pilots was killed), which is kind of refreshing. Gary Cole's character is growing on me, and I love Knight. I find her an upgrade over Bishop (my opinion only--feel free to disagree). Wasn't impressed with the computer team.

I thought the interaction with the team was enjoyable - “Paper Pauline” was cute, too…
but “the case” left me cold - dumb criminals always annoy me…. 😡 and… killing the helo pilot was soooo unnecessary! why?! 😕

nas There didn't seem to be any good reason for McGee to be left at the office from the case perspective. They had him there so they could have the elevator scene with Vance and his subplot with the hackers, but the SFA should have been in the field with the team (wasn't that even one of his reasons for not wanting the promotion?).
The pilot was killed so we wouldn't be saying how they had all those bullets flying and nobody gets hurt. The boat wasn't moving, so why wasn't tracking kept on the helo, or was there a contrived off-screen reason for them losing track of it?
On the good side, once the criminals were located they sent the closest people they had instead of having the main team fly out there, likely needing 2-3 extra hours to arrive. Also the helo had a reasonable price rather than the thieves doing it for 1/100th of the value like the last time.

yeah, that thought did cross my mind, Hari… at least they weren’t asking for:
other than that, they were still stupid! 😝

This episode reminded me a lot "Chimera". Only without Ducky, DiNozzo, Shephard, Ziva, and Gibbs. Always like Star Trek references. Ironic mentioning Gibbs third wife at the end. Someone at the top must be a huge Star Trek fan.

Never having been a Trek fan (although I did see a few of the many movies), almost all of the references meant absolutely nothing to me. My wife liked the original series, but never watched any of the others and only saw a couple of the movies, so she didn't get many of them, either.
