Tomorrow she needs all the good thoughts she can get. Today she ate almost normal, some wet food, lots of dry food. But now I have to take away her food due to the anesthesia she gets tomorrow morning.

Update on Candy I had to get her to the vet at 9am and could get her back after 6pm.
She lost 3 teeth. One fang which was already too lose and would have been the next problem, so the vet extracted it (that was unplanned) to avoid another operation. The two back teeth that should be scraped were in bad condition and partially already gone, so the vet extracted what was left of them. She got painkillers and some stimulating vitamin so that she eats.
The blood work came back as clean, no underlying conditions. She's healthy, just an older cat.
Vet said she's still tired from the ordeal and shouldn't eat today because she may vomit otherwise.
Candy had other ideas. She walked thru the rooms like drunk, aka wobbly with occasional toppling straight to the food. First dry food which she vomited maybe 5 minutes later. Then a short wile later a portion of wet food, which stayed down until she ate the other portion and again vomit. Still hasn't learned that lesson, still searching for food.
Meanwhile, 6 hours later she is more stable walking, but failed to jump on the dek twice, it's still too high for her at the moment. Still trying to eat. Her sister still sniffing her and getting snarled at. (The snarling work better than the normal hissing she does, but Teddy is nothing but persistent).
Same with me: had her lying on top of me to sleep for a while when we got home. While she did that, she snarled at me as well. No touchies please. Nonetheless she stayed each time I grabbed her, so it must have been comforting after her not so great day.
The whole ordeal cost me 285€ today.
Hopefully tomorrow she feels better and has gotten rid off the anesthesia completely.

thanx for the update, jessielee! I checked in off and on all day, and am glad to get the full report…
Candy sounds like one tough cookie, er, kitty for a 14 year old! must have been pretty funny to see her walking around like she was drunk…
hopefully she’ll be back to normal - walking straight and jumping up on things - by the end of the week…
well, that’s better than the 300-400 you were expecting…
hang in there, kiddo!

So, Candy is walking and jumping normally, but not fully back either, she's kind of nervous, not staying in one place for long. At least, she stopped snarling at me and Teddy.
She has eaten wet food overnight and it stayed down, she got wet food in mousse form, so she doesn't have to chew and can just swallow. She tried dry food this morning but it obviously hurts when eating. Need to adjust as the back teeth she would use for that are no longer there. She has trouble drinking from the tap as the water comes on the spot where the wound from the fang is. She hates drinking out of a bowl.
She made biscuits on me this morning when I noticed that she had some small spots shaved on each front leg. Hadn't seen it yesterday, plus she was so out of it l didn't want to handle her much and let her sleep. She also has still some brown spots in her white fur where blood dropped on her. Pretty sure I have to clean her by the end of the week.
She's still somewhat subdued so maybe a bit of pain from the wounds, even though she didn't need stitches. Overall almost back to normal, now I just need her to eat and drink more.

glad to hear sweet Candy is on the mend, jessielee…. 😊
I don’t know about other hoomans, but if my mouth hurts all of me hurts, as the mouth is very sensitive - so it stands to reason that your kitty is feeling somewhat subdued…
her eating difficulty reminds me of my neighbor’s two doggies - a couple of Shih Tzus (I call ‘em little “dust mops”) - Olivia is 6+ and Tonio is 13+… both of them have lost many of their teeth, but they have adjusted, and just gum their food to death… 😅 in fact Tonio still “chews” on rawhide bones - he’s a tough one!
here’s hoping 🐱 is back to 100% real soon…

Almost 24hours later and Candy is improving. We found the tap in the second kitchen works better for drinking. Found some treats in fish form that are small which she had no trouble with. Wet food is still mousse. Acts more like herself. Okay, did hide under the covers during the time the Telekom technician was here to find the problem with my DSL line, but after he was gone followed me through the house. Currently resting behind me on the couch, but reacts when I call her. Purr machine started working again. She comes for snuggles so I'm being forgiven. Yesterday she wasn't my biggest fan. Poor baby. I felt as bad as she did without any toothache. Adding a new photo, click for bigger size

That made me laugh. But what else should Tonio do except gum his food to death? I think, Candy swallowed the treats without biting them. Since I mix their dry food and it usually contains between 6 - 8 sorts/brands, there are some with smaller kibble. I'll find out in the next few days and weeks... May have to find new dry food. Maybe she eats more wet food, which would be better anyways.

[new pic of Candy]
she looks soooo cute, jessielee! all she need is a “blankie” covering her all up, and she’d look just like me when I’m sleeping… 😂
