it’s late, so I’ll probably watch the episode again tomorrow with more comments… just a couple of things for now…
1. did Torres have to act like a total pendejo towards the guy filming the incident on his phone? I almost stopped watching the episode at that point because I was so upset by his rudeness and arrogance… 😖 he just took the guy’s phone away from him!? not cool! 😡
2. didn’t Reyna and Adam see who shot the agent? I’ll have to go back to see if I missed or misunderstood something…
3. so the guy {Spoiler Warning - Click Here} murders his own partner for a lousy $50k? typical NCIS - setting really low dollar figures for committing a serious crime…

I doubt that he had only received $50k from the cartel. I'm pretty sure that he's been dirty and on the take for a while. So murdering his partner was to avoid jail and he got a bonus $50k for it. Too bad for him that the guy crashed in Ncis's jurisdiction.

What Torres did didn't bother me. What bothers me is that people like that feel the need to video *everything* these days. It's annoying. I'm glad I lived in a time before that was common practice. For one, it's a car wreck, not a sporting event, not police brutality. There was no need to film anything. A person was dead and more injured. Jessica is a federal agent. Being seen on video got her taken off the stakeout. Now that her face is everywhere, it could even put her life in danger. It was also evidence in a federal investigation. The only evidence they had at the time. I didn't see the point of fighting the guy, haggling for the phone. Besides, the guy was giving Torres attitude already. If one of my friends was at a car wreck scene whether they were hurt or just a bystander, good Samaratain, I'd be a little keyed up. Jimmy was upset, I'm sure Torres was too. I had a feeling about that ending. Turns out I was right. Had to Google Scott Lawrence. I first saw him as Tibby in Quantum Leap, another Bellasario show. No coincide in the casting. Overall I liked it even with the kid being a little s**t to Knight for no reason. None of this was her fault. In fact, she saved them and hid them, which could've come back to bite her, but didn't.

Scott's been on the show before, plus he was also on JAG.

Agreed, and I'll add on that even though Torres didn't know it, the video jerk was spewing, "I don't care if you're trying to save someone's life, I want my skateboard back!" when Knight was going to use it to break the window. Honestly, I hope his phone is held as evidence for a long time and that the guy wasn't able to get anyone to call him an Uber. The little kid was almost as bad.

I didn't like this episode much at all. Was leaning towards giving it an "F", but once again I am probably too generous in my grading and gave this one a "D-".
ONCE AGAIN, I pegged the crooked DEA guy as, well, crooked from the moment he was introduced. Though I didn't realize he was the killer until about halfway through it. He was the only one that made sense as the episode unfolded. And as nas pointed out, $50K is pretty darn cheap to risk ending your career, spending the rest of your life in jail (or worse) for killing a fellow federal agent. I thought it would have made more sense if the guy was blackmailed in some manner. Though that probably would have been another lazy way to explain it as well.
And the way they got the recording bothered me too. The kid used it as some sort of sampling thing on his phone? Really? I would think any decent lawyer could say that phone conversation was doctored/edited by the government and that evidence should have been thrown out. Also didn't like that once again government agents were essentially babysitters for a kid as well.
Also got tired of hearing Agent Knight being called "Wonder Woman" about every time that darn video was brought up.
Only thing that kinda saved it for me was that granny packing heat and holding Torres at gunpoint. She was pretty much the only one with a brain in this episode.
So even as sort of a filler episode, it just didn't work for me.

sorry, dave and Hari, I watched the phone guy recording scene again, and he wasn’t “haggling” for the phone… he was excitedly telling Torres what Jess had done, called her “Wonder Woman”, and said that he “got the whole thing…”; there was no attitude in his voice… then Torres told him “…we’re gonna need that for evidence”, ripped the phone out of his hand, stuffed it in his back pocket, and told the kid while walking away, “we’ll send you a receipt.”
I replayed the skateboard scene a half dozen times, and nowhere did the kid spew, "I don't care if you're trying to save someone's life, I want my skateboard back!"
Jess ran up to him and said, “Hi! Can I borrow this?” grabbing the skateboard out of his hand…
and the guy said, verbatim, “Hey! Whoa, whoa, whoa, what are you doing? That’s mine!” nothing more was said - cut to opening credits…
so, it’s obvious we saw that scene through different eyes…
the guy was excited at seeing and recording a heroic occurrence… y’all can makes excuses for him, but imo Torres was just a jerk…

"whoa whoa whoa, That's mine!" does translate to what I said because there just isn't anything else he could have been thinking she would do with it and he was objecting because he valued his property more than the lives of those trapped in the car. Also, the fact that the news was showing his footage of the incident means he uploaded the video before Torres arrived and it's guaranteed he didn't get permission of any of the people he filmed.

Nah, probably live streaming, and the newscasts just picked up the you-tube (or wherever) feed. That is what them thar young-ens do these days with stuff they video "tape"...

OK episode. Liked the way the show dealt with instant internet fame (and how quickly it faded). Hadn't seen Scott Lawrence much since JAG (he would have been in the initial pilot episodes of NCIS that appeared on JAG). Always liked him and it was nice to see him, even as the bad guy. I was fooled initially because I thought the lady and her son were illegals and trying to hide from the law, not the local mob. Not as good as it could have been, but not bad either.
