There's probably 100 episodes of the mother ship where you can say relatively the same thing, but it's a shame that Sydney doesn't have any police, EMS, or any other kind of rescue agency that could be called for assistance in these situations.

this is the penultimate episode of the Sydney series…
I was unimpressed and haven’t watched the last couple; I just couldn’t warm up to any of the characters, and the storylines were not impressive…
that said, any word how it did with ratings and if it’ll be renewed for a second season?

nas It did well (comparably anyway) in the US ratings but that was with no competition from any other new television. I don't know how it did in Australia and I haven't seen anything about renewal. I read a rumor that it was, but it was one site and I don't know if it was reliable.
I've enjoyed the show for the most part and the characters are getting better. The cases have been interesting too. While it's not my favorite iteration, I wouldn't mind a second season.

after my post earlier today I wandered over to IMDb to read the user reviews on the series…
of the 116 reviews posted, a good deal of them were 5 or under (based on the 1-10 rating), and they seemed unimpressed with this Sydney iteration; some downright hated it!
many of them were critical of the Mackey character and/or thought the other characters were miscast…
I won’t say any more; if you’re interested you can go check it out yourself…
I will say this: more than one show/series that I thought really sucked was renewed - some for many seasons!
producers aren’t calling me - or Maxine - for our opinions, so they just keep crankin’ out the samo, samo…

Now that it's aired here, I can elaborate a bit.
They have 9 possible locations and know there's a room full of people suffocating. How are they not able to get local police and fire departments out checking those bunkers? They were able to get the helicopter at the end instantly without any trouble - that helicopter could easily have flown over all 9 locations in half an hour and seen which one had cars outside if they'd done it in the first place. Speaking of the cars, wouldn't one of the drivers sitting outside waiting have contacted someone for help when the explosion went off?
They also made several mistakes on the oxygen supply and its effects.

I didn’t watch the episode, so it’s not this show specifically, Hari, but how can writers, actors, and whoever else sit around a table at the script reading and not see the glaring errors, omissions and downright stupidity of the situation(s)!
this has always been one of my pet peeves with so many of the t.v. shows and movies that I watch… as a Realist it drives me absolutely bonkers! 🤪 it’s been this way forever! I guess the viewers are simply expected not to think it through, and just accept it - period!

I just want to say I generally like NCIS:Sydney. I'm pretty much warming up to most of the characters (even Blue hasn't really annoyed me much the last couple of episodes). Hope it gets renewed and we can see it here in the US.
That being said....
Ok, I give the writers some credit for coming up with something different than the usual NCIS "case o' the week". But man....that was a really bad episode. First of all, why would NCIS agents be invited at all to a gathering like that? What's the purpose in doing that? I could see *maybe* like an assistant director of some agency or perhaps a low level cabinet official represening the government. But it didn't really make much sense for our NCIS crew to be there. And being told this was a secret location where you couldn't be contacted? I'm sorry but those agents should pretty much always be able to be contacted no matter where they go. You never know when an emergency could happen.
And then we have the CEO of whatever defense contractor company that was. Locking people up with 2 hours of oxygen just for you stupid little demo? I get being dramatic, but to play with people's lives like that? Really? Ok, maybe someone with enough hubris could try and do that. But even so, she should have had a backup plan or two if the demonstration would fail. I don't care if it ran fine 99 times out 100. When it's *your* life that's at stake here, you pretty much should have a backup plan in place just in case the odd chance that it doesn't work as planned.
Luckily enough our heroes do find a working phone. I wish they would have spent some time asking if anyone could operate a rotary dial phone. Just for giggles and stuff. But I digress. At least they found a phone that actually worked down there! Yay! Once they did that and contacted the home office, as others here have mentioned, I'm pretty sure the Aussies have many emergency services available to them to search the possible location of that bunker. Not just have our 2 agents fly a helicopter around and hope they stumble onto the location. Anyway, as luck would have it, someone cut the phone line. Not only that but apparently pulled it completely out of the wall. You'd think that would take a lot of strength to do that and make a lot of noise in the process. But apparently they didn't notice anything.
Also by some luck, they found gunpowder and flour bags. With that they could essentially construct a homemade bomb. So, what they do with that? They tried blowing up the fireplace thingie to (I guess) open up a larger area to access fresh air. And..that didn't quite go as planned. I didn't understand why they didn't take a smaller amount of that stuff and try to blow open the sealed door. Or if nothing else, have a smaller amount to try and just break that seal on said bunker door. Oh well.
And it wasn't too difficult to spot the baddie in this one either -- pretty much felt it was (non)pregnant lady all along. Though the fake pregnant belly was a twist I didn't anticipate. Anyway, I guess she ties into the conspiracy that we saw in the premier episode. And that we will hopefully get some answers to what is going on with that in this "to be continued..." episode.
So yeah, this one was pretty much nonsensical from start to finish. I did like the set design. It did make it look like it was a real bunker (assuming they didn't film this in an actual bunker). Otherwise...very forgettable. And bad. Not bad in a good way either. Gave this one a grade of D, and I'll probably hate myself in the morning for doing so.
