I still miss the MCRT van (reminded by seeing the ME van).
I suspect we're going to see the pepper spray training.
True. "They're not horses, they're cops". (ie: police dogs, Marine dogs...)
OK. That was creepy. Animal skulls.
... after the break: monkeys
I hate that picture too. Abby should too! It's demeaning.
Has Gibbs met his next LtCol Mann.
Why isn't she in uniform?
The horse whisperer.
Well we didn't see that pepper spray. Duh, Torres!
Knows or speaks 6 languages?
It's been decades since I was high but I don't remember being that goofy.
Why was Reeves in the director's office?
Hmmm. Not tit or tat.
Why is Gibbs heading to Abby's lab through the main elevator? Access to lower floors are through the rear elevator.
That's the "rock football" cabin from Sub Rosa.
Sorry. Not shocked.
Wish Reeves would deck Torres!
Yes. Gibbs heard. Shot officer didn't make it.
Stuck up JERK!
Awww.
Just like patrol cars. There don't seem to me patrol officer partners anymore.
Wow! A spontaneous mention of Kelly.
Abby's buddy knew about bush meat because Abby told her. She's been with NCIS for around 16 years so there needs to be consequences. I swear she's lost the ability to THINK!
This is kind of making my stomach sour.
Pot smoking guy.
Torres & Quinn just need to do it [again] and get it out of their system and off my screen.
Somebody spray McGee!
Mark looks great on a horse!
Only one episode but I liked Officer May Dawson.
maybe you can explain this, the bush meat is hundreds of dollars a pound, who is going to buy it, the poor people?

I also wondered if Glasberg had plans for Reeves that the new show runners aren't using. I really like Reeves so I hope they come up with a good way to work him into the show. If you recall, Glasberg was still living when the first ten or so episodes were filmed, which would mean that several scripts after that would have been written and pre-production is some form would have started, possibly through the Christmas episode.
And Reeves was used sparingly during that time, three episodes, maybe four. Introduced during the Thanksgiving episode as part of a joint operation with MI6 and NCIS. And between that time and the episode of "The Wall" he was either undercover, or only called in when his connections with MI6 were needed.
At least now, he's with the team, sort of, and a regular with the show. But I've said this before, they need to find a true purpose for him. Duane Henry is a fine actor who's talents are being wasted right now. It's my belief that the actor could make a fine addition to the ensemble, but not as he is used now.

finally watched "Beastmaster" last night; the basketball playoffs are taking precedence over all else right now...
my thoughts on the episode:
NewBe wrote:
I totally agree with this statement!!! why TPTB thought it was necessary to replace 1 departing agent with 3 agents is beyond me... Torres is being written to look like a " Suavaay & De-Boner Latin Lover" - and I'm not impressed - at all... Quinn is unwatchable as an "I just got out of bed and didn't have time to brush my hair" ding-bat... just gimme more of Reeves - he's much more interesting as a charactor - and as an actor!!
other thoughts:
> Abby, Abby, Abby continues to annoy! did she really think the "cheesecake pic" of her friend was cool? where's the Abby who would have thought that picture was demeaning and insulting to women?? NewBe, I think you wrote in your notes that apparently the writers think Abby can do no wrong... well, imo, yes she can - and often does! I love that saying: "silence is golden, but duct tape is silver"; they should use some on her!
> is there nothing Gibbs can't do?
> I did like the lovely Elisabeth Röhm (Mounted Park Police Sergeant May Dawson), but don't expect to see her in any future episodes as a -interest for LJG... why? because she's not at all bitchy like the ex-from-hell, Diane - - or pushy, pushy like Hollis Mann - or a Gibbs clone/wanna' be, like Agent Borin... so seeing her ride off into the "sunrise" with Gibbs is probably the last we'll see of her...[sigh]
> tho' blackmarket bushmeat may be a real & serious problem, the episode/case still grossed me out...
> I am really tired of seeing 4 [supposedly] adult NCIS Agents acting like a bunch of high-schoolers - a la "Saved by the Bell" or "That 70's Show"... grow the frakk up, already!!
end of thoughts...

Exactly! But I'm sure Abby would say: I'm not a woman, I'm a scientist. Somehow she became clueless and I think it really started when Ari's bullet went through Kate's head. Her "Puppy/little girl" persona just got more and more pronounced as the years went by. There will never be a return to S1-S2 Abby and though it's taken years I'm finally accepting this. What we see is all we're ever gonna get.
NewBe, I think you wrote in your notes that apparently the writers think Abby can do no wrong... well, imo, yes she can - and often does! I love that saying: "silence is golden, but duct tape is silver"; they should use some on her!
Agreed. It's the writers and the actor - she prefers this Abby rather than Original Recipe Abby. This was a repeat of the Abby who defied orders and called Ned's daughter to let her know he was alive and brought him to NCIS despite Ned not wanting her to.
> is there nothing Gibbs can't do?
This one didn't bother me because he's always been good with animals and little kids (which is why he's okay with Abby's behaviors). It's other adults that he mostly sucks with.

I think that was the point, Nas.

I mostly agree, though his "Bushmeat please" reminded me of:Just to be devil's advocate for a second, If it was so demeaning then why did her friend pose for it?Except those are examples of them trying something different with each one. Maybe her lack of those qualities is a good sign.Yes bushmeat is a problem and it looks like it was portrayed fairly accurately in the episode, at least according to a National Geographic article I found. news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/07/060718-ape-meat.html

Nobody seems to be able to say NO to Abby. She probably got talked into it "for fun" when sneaky Abby already knew it was the one she was going to pick.

good question, concisfan...
there are many articles on the subject discussing both sides of the issue... I have no idea why the U.S. is involving itself in it... perhaps someone can answer that question to my/your satisfaction...
it is my very personal opinion that at the moment this country has waaaay bigger problems than the illegal importation of illegal bushmeat... we must remember to choose our battles wisely...

Except the Ebola part is very real and if there's an Ebola outbreak that would be a waaaay bigger problem.

By overlooking the illegal import of bush meat we'd be condoning the practice of hunting for it. It is a problem and we don't have to ignore it in order to continue focusing on bigger problems.

@ seldon & NewBe
please understand I'm not trying to make an argument in favor of the importation of illegal bushmeat... this is a very interesting - and controversial - subject; one that I haven't thought much about before now, so I did a little "digging for a bone"...
the following article is verry looong, but enlightening... it points out that "illegal bushmeat" isn't the only pandemic that Planet Earth faces or has faced in the past... qz.com/795294/will-illegal-bushmeat-bring-the-next-global-outbreak/I guess we could never leave our homes to avoid contracting a deadly flu virus - or eat steamed baby carrots for the rest of our lives, but that's not a realistic solution, is it?
I find myself thinking about people in other parts of the world who eat rat, monkey or many of the wild animals that we in this country would never consider consuming... remember, there are some cultures who believe we are "a strange lot" for eating a thick juicy beef steak or a rack of bbq'd pork ribs...
just some thoughts on a very complicated subject...
