I think the woman in next weeks episode is going to be Abby's replacement and I think we'll get 2 episodes for her exit.

Just watched the episode, the end of college basketball (lets go Big East) and no power after the last winter storm kept me from watching.
I really enjoyed the episode! Thought Drew Carey was very good, he is older than I thought he was. I liked the story line, it held my attention.
It does make me feel a little bad but I am sure we will never know. I am enjoying the grown up Abby!
So happy to see Ducky!

I thought this was a very good episode - good storyline with a touching ending for Drew Carey's character, John Ross...
Drew Carey is a great dramatic actor, isn't he? sure liked the pic of him when he was a young Marine! quite handsome!
Jake Busey's character was disgusting and infuriating! 😠 I 've never seen him in anything else, so is this always the way he acts? he doesn't look like his dad so much, but he sure got "those teeth", didn't he? 😬
well, Jack had to have a backstory - and this is as good as any, I suppose... sure made for some good heart-to-heart convo's with John... she is a tortured soul... 😕
I am soooo glad to have seen the complete exit of "Toddler/Teenager Abby"! she's really easy to watch now; too bad she's leaving now that she's portraying Abby as an adult woman...
and speaking of her leaving: some of you are thinking that the writers should be building up to her departure from the show... why does my gut tell me that her "farewell" is gonna' be a "One & Done" episode - or a 2-parter - - max...
none of my/our business, but it sure would be interesting to know what went down between MH and PP - not that we ever will... but their lack of appearances together in scenes is certainly "an elephant in the room"...
and DiNozzo was right! remember what he used to say? 😄
nasI long time ago I said there was trouble with PP and MH and everyone jump all over me, it'll be interesting to know what !!

a few of us have been speculating about the obvious and undeniable rift between MH and PP... we all agree that we will never know the truth behind this "elephant in the room", but I just have 2 more cents to add to the "situation":
there was that article I posted a while back that said PP refused to appear onscreen with MH if he continued to bring his dog on set (remember? the dog that bit the crew member...) 🤔 is that the real reason? who knows? could just be a rumor...
then there's MH who has been avoiding PP in those "Abby Lab" scenes like the place is plague infested! so reminiscent of his avoidance of Michael Weartherly during his final season on the show...
regardless of who is responsible for this glaring "break-up", I find it most unprofessional... they are actors! they should be able to fake it for the short amount of screen time they have during an episode... they are paid some verrrry BIG bucks to act! so act like you like each other - then go off to your separate corners!
if it's PP, then she should grow up and do her job...
but here's where I'm gonna put on my flak jacket and say this: my gut tells me MH is responsible for the rift... why? because, like I said before, it is so similar to what when on with MW prior to his departure from NCIS... in every published pic we see of MH he is either smiling or hugging (or both) someone - but never PP! she used to be in lots of pix w/him in the past - - but no more! if he's pissed at her for deciding to "move on" after 15 years, then that makes him a very small man, not at all in keeping with the "Mr. Nice Guy" persona that he has enjoyed for so many years! he just looks like he's behaving like a jerk (for lack of a better word)...
in either case, whether it's her or him, it's too bad that this season has been overshadowed somewhat by the behavior - or lack of behavior - between these two characters...
There - I've said it!

What have we missed by not having them on screen together other than the annoying "Gibbs, Gibbs, Gibbs"? Them not having scenes is not from MHO having a detrimental affect on my enjoyment, so who cares if they appear on screen together or not. Maybe when/if they do appear together it might be very dramatic way of ending Abby. I'm guessing it won't be long before we find out if there is a season 16.

It's not that it's missed, it's that it's very obvious. After years of ONLY Gibbs interacting with Abby in her lab, it's now NO Gibbs in the lab and it's jarring.
It might not be noticeable to the masses but it's very noticeable to me - and to my never posted a thing about the show anywhere, sister.

Granted it wasn't great and felt very strained. But at least, they were both professional enough to get it done. because of that; I really do think this one is on PP. If it's about the dog, it's b/c her demands were refused and therefore she now is giving MH the cold shoulder in real life and on the show (like the spoiled brat Abby would do, and considering that it was stated over and over again that PP is actually more playing herself than Abby it comes full circle here) But whatever the reason: it is unprofessional. And the writers could have made it less obvious if they continued with all the facetime conferences between Gibbs and Abby like in the beginning.

jessielee I definitely concur something is most certainly odd between MH and PP, just as there was with MW. However, just as with MW we will likely never learn what is going on BTS with PP.

you are absolutely 100% right, mchnelson! especially about the annoying "Gibbs x's 5" part...
it's just that my curiosity is piqued every week by their non-appearance together in scenes... (I'd better be careful! I know what happened to that cat and his curiosity! )
it's just after 14 seasons of watching the "huggy Abby/kiss on the cheek Gibbs" duo - then it goes to nada, zip, zilch - I just have to wonder, "what the heck happened?
I know, I know! get a life, nas! fuggetaboudit!! 😉

Can I play devils advocat and suggest that rather than being a jerk, perhaps Mark knows how volatile Pauley is and that Abby's character is well loved and has worked around a solution to Pauley's problem, in the hope that given long enough Pauley might decide she want's to stay. Unlike MW, who people thought could carry a show, I would not think Pauley has as many options going forward, more likely to be a Cote rather than Sasha, just my musings. It must be pretty stressful for Mark knowing how many people have a job because of what he does, okay when NCIS ends most of the backroom staff will go onto other jobs but the continuity of a regular pay cheque must help make their lives easier. Fred, who is the Ducky stand in has mentioned he is having to look for bits of work now and that is just one person. When are "Up Fronts"?

@ mchnelson
that is certainly looking at "the flip side of the coin" regarding the great "MH/PP Debate", and not a totally unbelievable assumption... so, instead of being a jerk, Mark is simply staying out of the line of fire...
but as we've all said many times before, we will never, ever know the reason(s) for this rift between them...
excuse me for saying so, but the "Mark knows how many people have a job because of what he does", therefore he's reluctant to close down the show, has never struck me as how "noble he is" as it has others of you...
people, whether they be in the entertainment industry or the other multitudes of jobs from low-level to high-level positions, find themselves unemployed all the time...
the NCIS crew have been very fortunate to have had steady employment for these past 15 years; I would venture to say some of them have moved on from the show to bigger and better on their own...
re Ducky's stand-in Fred: that can't possibly be his "full time job", can it? unless he was making a damn fine liveable salary standing in for David Mc, he must have been making $$$ elsewhere, no? I cannot imagine what with the cost of living in California that being DMc's stand-in is his only job
ahhh, but I digress... when NCIS comes to an end, which it inevitably will, then the crew will just have to do what everyone else does when they find themselves unemployed; they'll have to dust off and/or update the old resume and find another job... I've done it and I'll bet most of the folks who contribute to this board have done it, too... so, the NCIS crew can "join the club" and go "job hunting"...
I have other more important things to shed tears over, so I won't be wasting any of them on the unemployed from Mark Harmon's show...

nasyeah, very noble, with $525,000 an episode plus a piece of the show's profits, he stays on to keep other people working, got to think about that a little bit.

nas No to mention that he's making way more nowadays. He's around $800,000 the last two seasons. It will be over that with a new contract. And we're talking just about the per-episode salary here as noone knows how big his share of the show's profit is.
