Finally, a decent episode this season. Everyone seemed to have a relatively important part, though Duane Henry could have been utilized a bit better. Jack' neurosis was on full display, which means there will be more to the story, so they aren't rushing that story arch. Gibbs toying with the guy in the squad room after Torres cleared the room was nicely done. I especially loved how Bishop and Palmer semi destroyed Abby's lab.
The only picky point I will make is the running gag of Sr. getting dumped. It's getting old and stale.
Over all, nicely done.

Where to begin on this one...
How about, dead body found on roof with bomb materials may not be alone and you don't have every verified agent still in the building carrying their weapons? Next and probably worse, civilian DiNozzo Sr. not only walking around without escort, but apparently gets an exemption as being part of the team for not following the evacuation order. He should have been first out the door. After that, you have VERY expensive machines in Abby's lab without surge protection, with a bonus that after blowing out one very expensive machine, Bishop and Palmer don't think to unplug the rest of the very expensive machines that also don't have surge protection before making further attempts to create surges. Next, after exposing the mole, McGee let the terminal she was using time out. He already knew she'd enabled it to control the lockdown, he should have been working on opening the MTAC door the second she was disarmed.
Ok, I'll stop there and leave a few for nas.

thanx, Hari, but I'm not gonna spend much time nit-picking this one tonite... it was just too awful and irritating to enumerate everything I hated about it...
briefly, it started out by making Torres look and sound like a total moron; 311 pages is not a long book! 800 pages is a long book! well, I guess 300 pages is long if all you read is Playboy or Muscle & Fitness magazines - they both have pictures...
the arrival of SR. - escorted or not - always makes me ... I could care less if another lady "dumped" him... note how he always says he "loves" them... probably after they figure out he really "loves" their bank account, they dump his sorry ass! I still don't know why they keep bringing RJW back to the show - it's gotta' be those pictures he's hiding in that safe deposit box...
all that destruction was giving me a nervous breakdown! explosions! fires! more explosions!! more fires!! jeez! enough already!!
Maria Bello's acting seemed really sophomoric tonight, as was mole person's...
so, Abby wakes up from her little "snooze" in a meat locker with a big ol' smile on her face, as if she'd just spent the afternoon at a day spa getting a hot rock massage and a colonic cleanse... no concern for what might have happened while she was napping?!
the rest of the episode was just one dumb scene after another... after another, after another, after another...
so, I won't bother to continue...

This was the first episode all season that I really enjoyed. Although I agree, they could have skipped Sr. in yet another failed relationship.

This episode puts me in the Hari and Nas camp, highly unbelievable situations even for an "entertainment watcher" of NCIS like me, who does not need the TV series to be "absolutely" true to real life.

Is it any less ridiculous than a man conspiring to kill someone, put them in a cab to the Navy Yard while having the hired thug hiding under the front seat of said cab, all so you could maybe gain access to the NCIS evidence garage long enough to switch a weapon in a murder case and just possibly escape in the same cab all without being seen? Because that was pretty far fetched too and we already had that episode way back in season 4.
In general, I found the episode pretty entertaining aside from the whole bit with Jimmy and Bishop destroying Abby's lab. For one, the Director would not be so forgiving that they destroyed that much valuable equipment and Abby would be apoplectic that the Major and her 'babies' were destroyed even if the bad guys had been responsible.
The main flaw was with the MTAC tech. I rolled my eyes at the idea that she was so easily bribed. She would be one of the more vetted employees at NCIS not to mention that even 6 years at a government job like that isn't so bad when compared to everyone else in the room. Jack had been held captive in Afghanistan, Vance's wife had been murdered and McGee had been held captive and tortured in Paraguay. 6 years at a desk job ain't that bad in comparison! But seriously, if she was going to pull off this stupid stunt, why do it when you have the Director and one of the most technically savvy agents locked inside with you? Let them out, lock the doors and run the scheme from the inside where you don't have investigators scrutinizing your every move?

It's beginning to be trite for me to say this is an episode that I could take or leave, but it is. Good to see Gibbs himself doing something. They are finally letting McGee do more, but we still have to put up with Jack. My complaint has been with the character, not the actress, but this time the actress let me down. Unlike some, I'm not offended by Senior, and enjoyed his standing in for Ducky to help Abby. I hope the break up means the Sherlocks are now out of the picture. The first time was fun, but later not so much. Now I did have fun with Bishop and Palmer in the lab. And finally, noted that Rocky Carroll directed this episode. He's becoming a pretty fair director.

Up against Roseanne, so only 11.77 watched. When was a new airing that low?

I have to agree with Llyan that the MTAC tech being bribed and running the con from inside MTAC was a bit over the top. Overall, I enjoyed the episode. I think Rocky did a good job keeping up the tension with this episode, and I enjoyed watching Gibbs thinking his way through the whole situation. The shot of the baseball bat was good foreshadowing. I thought for sure the pipe was going to be used as a weapon and not as a distraction up on the roof, and it was good shooting by Vance. They also covered how they fake contractors were able to get on base quite well.
I am not liking the direction the writers are taking with Torres and making him into a "dumb jock" type of character. You don't get to be on Gibbs' team by being a moron. As for Sr., I thought it was rather noble of him to pretend to be Ducky and protect Abby, and of course Abby would take refuge in an autopsy drawer (nod to the writers who have remembered that she has slept there before). I wouldn't mind though, if this was the last we saw of Sr. (and the Sherlocks).
When I saw the perp bust into autopsy, I had flashbacks to the episode (name escapes me) where Jeanne first finds out about Tony and the drug dealer is after the body in the morgue because the body in the morgue was a drug mule.
As for Jimmy and Elinor destroying the lab - perhaps it is a plot point leading to Abby's departure?
And of course, the "breakroom" on the roof was Gibbs'!

Hiya, USMCBrat, The episode you're thinking of with Jeanne & Tony in her hospital's morgue was titled Angel of Death..
I'd have to go back and look but I don't think Abby slept in a drawer before but on one of the autopsy tables at the end of Bete Noire.
Abby couldn't be fired for what Ellie and Jimmy did to her lab but NCIS might want to make changes that she doesn't approve of OR to now farm out their lab work to a civilian facility - where they'd have to wait months for test results. No clue really where they're going with her exit.

And again it was the magical $75K that apparently buys any government worker. That's the same amount per person the helicopter crew thought was worth stealing a half billion dollar chopper and killing the guy who didn't go along with it. Yes, that's a nice boost to a person's bank account, but hardly outweighs risking prison, being unemployable, not to mention throwing away a future pension.
I still think it was a bigger flaw that they knew someone had gotten explosives past security and who knows what else, and yet they think the guns need to stay locked in the desks while they are looking for any other intruders.

Guess Kate didn't get wearing her ankle holster from Gibbs.
Yep, she had it taken away by Ari when he frisked her in Bete Noire but at least she was wearing it.

thank you, Hari!! I wanted to write something about that worker taking a measly $75k for her "dirty work", but I couldn't think how to put it... so it just fell under one of the "dumb scenes" category in my post... you said it perfectly! funny how the NCIS writers keep using that $75k figure, isn't it? those bad guys sure work cheap, don't they? 😄
question: can you explain to me why Team Gibbs keep their guns locked in their desks until they leave the building [to go to a crime scene]? is that a real NCIS/Federal Employee regulation, I wonder?
I don't recall ever seeing any of them coming in off the elevator in the morning and taking the time to lock their gun in their desk... seems that they would have their weapon on them at all times...
or...
is that just an NCIS show thing?
