I just have one question:
are we to believe that all those rocks on the table in Kasie’s lab were inside the victim’s body? 🤔 seriously?
o.k. - one more question: doesn’t Ducky have any friends outside of the NCIS team that could have been invited to his surprise party? (the show’s budget must be so low they can’t afford a few extras to make it look like a real party) eta: Kasie said “the venue” cancelled… just how big a “venue” did she need for a party with only 6 people? pretty sad gathering, imo… 😕 (even McGee’s wife was absent)
this episode depressed me…

nas I seem to remember they mentioned 63 (?) rocks. but it was supposedly toe organs turning to stone - not sure how we got to 63 organs... Any medical people on here care to venture a guess at the list?

I’d like to know why Dr Grace didn’t jab the bad guy with the needle, knocking him out?

I also don't know why she didn't jab the bad guy with the needle -- it's not like apparently the baddie saw her steal the thing. Also don't see how he knew his former partner was seeing Dr. Grace either. Unless he told him or someone else, I suppose.
And I don't know why bad dude summoned all the media there at the beginning. Maybe to flush out his old partner maybe? I dunno, if I were just released from jail, I'd kinda lay low and not really draw attention to myself. To later catch the person I was after by surprise. But maybe I'm just not a criminal mastermind. <shrug> I did like Parker's answers to the media though -- wish we could have seen an expanded scene or two of that. And being taken off the case by the director -- that could have been somewhat humorous as well. Certainly liked it better than than the cheese puns we got last week.
I dunno, there was just something a bit weird and off about this episode. I did kinda wonder why they needed a big venue for Ducky's "surprise" b-day party. There were only like, what, 6-7 people there? They could have easily have held it in one of the offices. Or heck, even autopsy. That would be a bit of a surprise venue in itself.
I had this episode at a C-. Would have been even lower had it not been for appearances by Ducky and Dr. Grace (always liked her character). Though it was a bit nice to see more depth to Torres. Glad to see he's eventually leaning on more of the team now. Other than that, most of this was pretty forgettable.

I had another thought about "the venue" for the bday party. Could have been some sort of mystery scene/room to solve together just for fun? Although maybe that would hit just a little to close to work to be much fun. Something small like that would make more sense that all the other venues were booked...

Not a great episode, but maybe the best of the season so far (OK, it's 3 episodes and I did say ""maybe"). First time that Dr. Grace has been front and center in an episode as far as I recall. She's had major impacts before, but not in a leading role. I thought she did it well. One picky point. When Torres enters Dr. Grace's office, he beats the hell out of one of the two baddies. But when the Dr. Grace and Torres are locked in the cage, neither bad guy shows a bruise, a blacken eye, any effects of a beating. Really? Apparently, Torres doesn't connect all that often or all that hard when he swings his fists. And did we need her assistant? Did like the couple at the Smithsonian and Parker's interview. Shades of Gibbs. As for Ducky's party, I thought it was a little strange, but was glad to see Ducky have something of a role this time out. And having said good things about Dr. Grace, I still miss Kate's sister as the resident shrink.

it was an okay episode. Better than the first and just above the stupid level, I guess.
I thought the rocks were found in the guys apartment, not all in his body. I will admit to not really paying attention as we had a heck of a storm here last night....
I "thought" the venue cancel was a way of Cassie trying to get out of a big gala, she couldn't figure out a theme so if the venue canceled then it could just be a few folks at a friends house, less pressure, type thing.

good thought, kaschu, but Kasie (according to Jess) throws “epic” parties… so, if she really is the “queen” of epic parties, there should have been no problem coming up with a theme…
our “word for the day”:
ven·ue /ˈvenˌyo͞o/
noun: venue; plural noun: venues the place where something happens, especially an organized event such as a concert, conference, or sports event.
I think the writers should really learn the proper usage of words… obviously she didn’t need a venue for a party of 6! any number of local restaurants could likely have accommodated a small dinner party… (I do stand corrected on a previous comment I made last night: in rewatching the party scene I spotted 3 other people in the background - so there were 9 party goers - maybe a few more, but certainly not enough for a venue!)
in the conversation Palmer had with Parker he said he sent 63 to Kasie, so I assume he found them during the autopsy of the victim’s body… the size and number of those rocks on the table in the lab could not possibly fit inside a man’s body! inside the Incredible Hulk, maybe, but not in the body of the victim! don’t the show runners see what we see? are they that stupid?
sorry to be making such a big deal about a “party” and some “rocks”, but the point I’m trying to make is just how low the quality of writing has been so far this season - bad, going to worse… 😕
no comment on the “Dr. Grace”/Torres story line…

There were more people at the party but they were standing in the background well-behind the main cast. I counted at least two men and two women (though not his friends from the museum, which would have been a smart reuse of extras.).

yes, llyan, I saw that in a rewatch of the episode, and I noted it in the post I wrote today…
so, I corrected myself by writing: …(I do stand corrected on a previous comment I made last night: in rewatching the party scene I spotted 3 other people in the background - so there were 9 party goers - maybe a few more, but certainly not enough for a venue!) …
thank you for keeping me honest, llyan! 😊
