Yeah, those of you who had to watch the NFL game in your local markets didn't miss much here.
I'll add more later when more folks have got a chance to watch it due to that aforementioned NFL game. It will probably be polarizing to some -- I've seen some folks like it because it helps expand a character's history. Others (like me) just found it tedious.
Gave it a solid D grade. Not much here I really liked.

Last season "Palmer" wrote an episode in which he and Kasie were exposed to toxins in her lab. This year "Kasie" writes an episode with she and Knight going into harm's way. Both episodes had a commonality--neither was very good. Maybe the cast should stick to acting. Having said that I thought "Jessica" did a good job with the role they gave her. Can't say much else good about the episode. The villain over-acted and the less we see of the sister, the better (please, powers-that-be, don't make her show up yearly). Even my grandson, whose first Hollywood crush is Katrina Law (mine was Lauren Bacall, so I understand) thought this episode was awful. And for what it's worth, my wife's reaction was "Boo."

wow! y’all have piqued my curiosity for this episode!
only four grades - and they’re two D’s & two F’s - that’s brutal! 😬
I watched the disaster that was called a football game last night, so sometime today I’ll check out the episode to see what caused such negative comments from my board buddies… of course you know I have to add my 2cents worth - and Maxine may have a word or two about this one also… ttfn!

I actually like the premise of the story but how it unfolded was stupid.
SPOILER….
He knew so much about Knight why not just go to her place? I mean he was willing to kill her long range so why not as she existed her car, leaving her house? No need to involve the sister (so annoying) & Kasie.

o.k. - I watched it… Maxine got tired of listening to the sisters incessant arguing, so she left the room…
one of the first thoughts that came to mind: if Charlie had killed Jess earlier in the day, then why would he have had to set up the “meet the sister” thing at Robin’s place later on? made no sense! *
not worth adding anything to what you guys have already written…
* eta - um, this thought just came to me: if we think of these “glitches” in the episode as we’re watching it, then why don’t the creators think of them when they’re writing it? or when they’re all together for the table reading? OR… maybe they don’t care that what they write just makes no sense! 🤨

I gave this a b, because as someone said upthread, it was tedious and slow. It got better toward the end.
But then again, I hate when someone is constantly talking and arguing and won't let peace and quiet reign.

I'll add one to the blunders - Knight is not just an agent, but led that REACT team with all sorts of special training, yet she wasn't able to spot that this guy had a .45 cannon tucked into his belt? That's definitely up there on the list of things she's trained to notice even when she isn't specifically looking.

Basically concur with pretty much everyone else. Not one of the finer episodes I've seen recently.
Like I said in another review, maybe I have been watching this show too long. But just some things you can just anticipate happening. Like when the admiral was counting down and firing the pistol, you knew something else would go "BOOOOOOM!" when she did fire it. And when sister brought home her latest fiance, you just knew it would happen to be their person of interest in this case.
Ugh. Where to begin? The show opens with some weird stalker dude wanting to get a selfie with the admiral because....reasons. And in order to do so, he decides to wear an NCIS hat and get a fake ID in order to get close to take said selfie. Uh...so the guy is risking years in jail impersonating a federal officer just to get a selfie with that person? Really? I mean, I would love a selfie with Jennifer Aniston. But I'm not risking prison life to do it. Ok, maybe I just gotta up my game.
And then there were the apartment scenes. Were the fighting/bickering between the sisters supposed to be cute or funny? I think neither sister came off well. My sister and I argued all the time as kids. But like we are adults now. Stop it. Family can definitely push buttons, I can get that. But to argue pretty much about any one or any thing at the drop of a hat? Silly and tedious. And if I am Agent Knight, there is no friggin' way I am giving up my cellphone. She's not on vacation. She may not be in the field at that particular moment, but who's to say something can't come up and she is urgently needed? Especially as a REACT team officer. So that phone wouldn't leave *my* side, anyway.
As mentioned earlier, why did shooter guy need to get close to the sister anyway? He already knew pretty much everything about her life and job. Why not find out where she lives or what cases she works to try and kill her from a distance. Which is what he tried to do at first anyway. I could see if maybe he wanted to poison her or something, you would need to get closer to the victim. But he was just trying to shoot her. Just doesn't make a lot of sense. I gave a few points for Kasie mentioning this is like the 3rd time she's had a gun pointed at her. But I took points away that she was the one who essentially talked the shooter down to the point where at least he wasn't aiming the gun at them any longer. I mean, what sort of training did Kasie have to come up with that? How could she possibly know what he was feeling and what the reason(s) were for wanting to take his revenge against Agent Knight. You'd think trained hostage negotiator would come up with that herself.
Yeah, i thought it was a convoluted mess. Glad nobody died though. I thought for sure sister would get shot before that commercial break. Happy I was wrong about that -- but definitely don't need her and Agent Knight fighting/arguing/bickering with one another again. Probably my least favorite episode of the season to date.

The 1st suspect reminded me of the episode Bikini Wax where their first suspect was a stalker.

in reading your post brgjoe, I think again how utterly ridiculous this episode was…
things like: ~ why did the weirdo stalker choose to impersonate an NCIS agent - with cap & fake ID? is it that easy to buy an NCIS cap? does NCIS have a shop that sells their apparel? 🤔 but, of course, he wore the NCIS cap so the real NCIS agents could spot him as a phony!
~ and WHY would Charlie go to the race in the morning intending to shoot Knight when his “big plan” was to take her hostage at her sister’s apartment and seek his revenge by threatening to kill said sister, so she would know what it feels like to lose a loved one? if he had been successful in shooting her earlier in the day, his “big plan” wouldn’t have been necessary, now would it?
~ well, of course he had to be in the crowd - so there would be a picture of him holding a gun, so they could pull up facial recognition of him… how else could they have found him? 🤨 what a fortunate over-the-top coincidence! 😖
~ Kasie became the great negotiator, because she wrote the episode - - this was her time to shine… 🤣
~ to call this episode a “convoluted mess” is being wayyyy too kind, brgjoe! it’s episodes like this one that make me ask myself, “Self, why do you keep watching this show?”

Self says: “I must like banging my head against a wall , ‘cause it’s gonna’ feel soooo darn good when I quit.”
I guess Self is just a glutton for punishment, verdun! 🥴

The one thought that popped into my head about why the killer arranged things though the sister then made the shooting attempt earlier in the morning is that maybe, just maybe, he found he actually liked the sister. The confrontation at dinner was the original plan, then in a last minute attempt to keep up the relationship with the sister, he tried to do the killing earlier. When that failed he went back to plan A. Yes, that sounds absurd, but not when you're comparing it with the rest of the episode.
Last week when the photos were posted, someone posed the question of the fourth glass of wine in the picture with the Knights and Kassie I was certain I'd made a sarcastic reply that it of course belonged to the killer, but I must have not hit the post button or something.
One other problem I had with the episode was some of the things Knight said. IF she was telling the truth and the suicide guy said all those things about the killer guy and she really does feel that bad when she loses one, why wouldn't she have reached out to killer guy at the time and told him what suicide guy said about him?

back on November 4th I wrote the post asking who the fourth place setting was for, Hari… too bad you didn’t post your reply about it belonging to the killer… you hit the nail on the head; except he wasn’t a killer - he was just a very disturbed person…
I got my question about how well written this episode written by Diona Reasonover was gonna be, didn’t I? unfortunately, Not. Very. Good. 🙁
and yeah, you’re right! one would assume that Knight would have reached out to the family of the guy that committed suicide… but then if she had, there wouldn’t have been a storyline for this episode….

Believe it or not, the CBS store *does* sell NCIS merch -- including NCIS hats. Though I think the one in the store is different than the one shown by our imposter from last week's episode. I ordered a "Property of NCIS" sweatshirt years ago. Will try and see if I can find it.
Maybe I can enter next year's Turkey Trot wearing it.
