... same goes for the Rose Parade in Pasadena… if January 1st falls on a Sunday, the parade happens on Monday, the 2nd… as I recall it goes back to the belief that Sunday is for “church goin’” - you’re not supposed to be having fun at a parade on Sunday! actually, this is the real reason: onwardstate.com/2016/12/31/why-the-rose-parade-is-never-on-a-sunday-and-more-interesting-facts/
I wonder how many people have shown up to camp out on the streets of Pasadena on a Saturday night New Year’s Eve, only to find out they’re a day early! yes, I’m sure there are people who are that uninformed! 😅
nas I always figured that the "never on Sunday" had to do with blue laws, and no liquor available for sale on Sunday. As for campers, they start several days in advance (or, at least as long as Pasadena lets them nowadays - it had gotten out of hand for a while) when I went to the parade back in the early 70s, we showed up late morning on New Year's Eve and found great spot right in front with the Cal Poly students...

so, BobNOT, I guess “Never on Sunday” had nothing to do with “booze” or “not having fun at a parade” - they were just concerned about the horses getting spooked by those noisy old Model-Ts… 😊
I only went to the Rose Parade one time in person - back in the 90’s it was part of my “Farewell to California Tour”… I must admit, the floats were beautiful to see in person as they went down Colorado Blvd., but I’m not big on crowds, and I much preferred to watch it in the comfort of my living room listening to the commentators describing them…
to this day I still watch it on my big-screen t.v., bundled up in my comforter, Mimosa in hand, eating apple fritters & drinking coffee! after 20+ years, that 🌹Parade tradition is still “Good Times”!

I don't have time for a longer post but I will say that my major complaint with most of the previous "crossover" episodes is that it felt like the story was rarely coherent between the shows. They might have shared characters between shows and the stories were loosely connected to one another. This time I really felt like this was really one big story and that each episode and show added to it until it was wrapped up in NCIS LA. It was a major improvement story wise over other crossover events.
Having said that, I'm gonna need to watch this one again before I can judge it in full. But overall, it was much more successful than other crossover episodes.

Hey, I actually managed to stay up and watch all 3 episodes! Even though I had to go into work early in the morning.
Ok, admittedly my expectations were set pretty low. Not really a fan of crossovers. Because usually they are a muddled mess. So maybe because my bar was set so low, this crossover event managed to leap over it. I actually liked it for the most part. Put it his way -- it held my interest. It had enough pacing to not have me keep glancing at my watch over and over again during the 3 hours. And I thought the story stayed pretty consistent and made sense to involve all the 3 shows. So in that sense, I did think it was pretty well done.
Not quite sure how to do the spoiler space thingie on here. So since this probie doesn't want to get slapped on the back of the head, I'll include some space before my thoughts on this episode...

Spoilers ahoy!
Yay! I see Robert Picardo (the doctor from ST:Voyager). But he's only on screen for like 2 minutes. Boo! But at least his character is mentioned through most of the episode. Still don't know why those classified files would be on his home computer and all. At least not there at home where it could be easily found. Was clever though that he used McGee's phone to cover his tracks (though why did McGee leave his unlocked phone on the table like that?). I liked how the episode did keep me guessing who were the bad guys and who were the good ones. Didn't quite know who to trust and not to. Especially since now I don't watch NCIS:LA any longer and rarely watch NCIS:Hawaii. Though I thought for awhile that blonde FBI agent was a mole. Guess not.
I thought the character interactions between all the agents was pretty good. They all were basically doing their jobs and the story flowed pretty well. Though outside of that incident with McGee, he was largely sidelined again. I get that someone had to stay home. But I wish he had more screen time. But we did get to see Jimmy take out a guy in a fight. Even though the poor dude broke his thumb while doing so. Ouch.
I did have some problems with it though. Once again, we see our outnumbered agents taking out baddies who are covered in battle armor and firing big, nasty automatic weapons. And the trope too of a couple of agents going into a place and getting ambushed by a group of evildoers. I mean, c'mon...really? They are going to (I guess) their boss's house. The boss who this huge mercenary group is trying to hunt down. Oh and THEY ALL HAVE BOUNTIES ON THEIR HEADS THEMSELVES. So sure..just send 2 agents with zero backup. Makes sense. Right. Uh huh. Ugh.
But all in all, I thought the crossover event was decent. Btw, didn't the lady who played the driving instructor also took on the role of the lady sheriff who kept hitting on Gibbs? Sure looked like her. Anyways, I gave this event a solid B overall. Sure it had issues, but I still kept my interest for 3 hours. And didn't annoy me too much while doing so.

as usual, I liked the review you wrote for this “3 way”, brgjoe…
I don’t think I’m going to write anything about this one except to say I’m not a big fan of crossovers, and this was no exception… I felt it was overly long and rather convoluted… plus, because I don’t watch NCIS: LA, and don’t know any of the characters, I felt at a disadvantage to be able to reach a satisfactory conclusion to the storyline - does that make sense? of all the things you wrote, I had to laugh at the one thing I quoted you [above]… in the multiple scenes throughout the 3 hours involving “baddies” with AR type weapons, they shot up everything from cars, windows, and entire houses, but never hit any of the agents! but the agents managed to take down several/most of the “baddies” just using their hand guns! I found myself literally shakin’ my head and rollin’ my eyes 🙄… those scenes are really stupid - hilarious, but stupid! 😂
I’ll just leave it at that…

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I haven't watched NCIS:LA in years. Apparently they added new characters since I last watched it. Didn't recognize tech lady, headscarf agent, nor her poor partner who got kidnapped. But still was able to watch it and generally follow along. So I think it was good that you can still pretty much understand what is going on without having to watch the other NCIS's.
I also don't like crossovers generally. Especially those that make you have to watch the other shows in order to finish the story. So I was all set to hate watch it. But it surprised me that it was actually watchable. At least for me.
Still, was maybe hoping for a cameo from a former team leader and maybe another very special agent. Though definitely wasn't expecting it.

I missed it. If any of you are law and order fans they will be doing a three episode arc.
I remember back in the day universal ABC did the same with the bubonic shows quite often. Actually.ovwr the years and did that a lot

Agree with the prior points made. I enjoyed the crossover it was fast paced & kept my interest wondering who was the bad guy(s)? Like others I haven’t watched the spin-offs in years so I had no idea who the new players were. I was thinking the same thing… NCIS agents are so lucky that not only do they don’t get a scratch from the heavily armed bad guys but hit them right we’re their protection ends. How did Morgan (is that the bad girls name) reviver so quickly from those gunshot wounds?
Regarding McGees phone. He trusted the professor so he gave him his phone to look At pictures of his kids while he went to the men’s room. Note to self… Don’t Trust Anyone”.

Yes that was Sheriff Charlie. My only question is why didn't they send Palmer home, when everyone left for LA?

Who's the genius that put this convoluted mess on opposite college football's championship game? Couldn't have been good for the ratings. I DVR'ed the entire thing and sat back to watch Georgia destroy TCU. Having now seen the entire 3 part disharmony, a few thoughts. The less said about the 3 hour arc, which kept changing who we were looking for, but how exactly did Gerald McRainey "follow" our heroes to the junked plane place, have his sniper outfit on, and know exactly where to set up his sniper post to take out the big baddie with one shot? There's too much of a stretch there, especially as none of our heroes knew he was along. Yuck. And while doing "less said about" thoughts, almost without exception, I can't stand the cast of Hawaii.

jennifer asked:
nas answers: the writers are once again taking the opportunity to let the viewers know that Palmer isn’t just a doofus, he’s a bad-ass doofus! 😂
in thinking about the “3-way” again this morning, I do want to add a few things to my previous post:
~ not only did the “baddies” shoot up, cars, windows, and entire houses, I overlooked that they even shot up “dead“ airplanes in the aircraft “graveyard” - all the while missing the L.A. agent who was being used as a shield by the “main baddie”… un-be-freakin’-lievable!! 😱 😅
~ after all these years (since 2010 in S1/ep19) it appears that the L.A. agent Deeks still hasn’t bathed or cut his hair… Torres even made a comment about his, um, “lack of grooming”… imo, it was gross back then - and it’s still gross now! 😝
and I have to agree with you, verdun, the more I think about it the more I think it really was a “convoluted mess”…

I gave this a b, because the show gave off a different vibe then normal.
I agree that there were too many people doing what the regulars were doing.
It also got a little convoluted and confusing towards the end of the show.
But I enjoyed it, and this triple cross just shows that each show has a different vibe then the original.
