Anne Marie Johnson played a different character in NCIS episode "Requiem". I thought she looked familiar.

I want to focus less on the plot than on a particular scene. It's the scene in the interrogation room and the interaction between Knight and the accused. I particularly liked the camera work in the scene. She stares directly at him and the focus is directly on her. He looks at her with a more sideline look and the camera is angled toward him so that we see the side of his face more clearly than the entire face. Much of the scene is done without words so that both actors have to get their points across without dialogue. Thought both did a great job. Also like the elevator scene. With all the goofiness that the writers inflicted on Palmer over the seasons, it's sometimes hard to remember he's a pretty fair actor. The interaction between Palmer and the other morgue guy was, in my opinion, overdone and a little dialing back might have helped. Pleasure seeing Anne Marie Johnson again. Haven't seen much of her recently, but liked her all the way back to "In the Heat of the Night." She also did an arc as a Congressional type in JAG fairly early on. BTW, NCIS has made the aides of Congressmen, Corporate Execs, and such the villain so many times that all three of us (wife, grandson, self) commented at the same time, "He did it" when we first saw the aide. We may open our own detective agency.

@ verdun
I thought the actor who played the suspect did a great job of acting like a “creeper”… I found myself wondering 🤔 - is he really that creepy in real life? 😅
don’t get me started on “Doctor” Palmer! they’ve completely re-created his character - now going back to him being in college and getting screwed out of an internship at the Mayo Clinic because of his roommate! it’s always been a sore spot with me that years ago when he was the “autopsy gremlin” for Dr. Mallard, he suddenly announced he had gone to med school on the “q.t.” and was now a full fledged doctor! yeah right! having worked at a medical university for several years, I know medical students do not pursue that career without friends and family knowing about it… but I’m beating a dead horse, so I will drop it - again!
it may have been a pleasure to see Anne Marie Johnson, the actress, again - but Anne Marie Johnson’s character, the Senator, was horrid, imo…. she was nasty, demanding, and vicious! it was hard to feel any sympathy for this woman, who lost her daughter, when she was behaving like a major “bee-atch”…
it’s getting to be a joke that the bad guy/killer shows up within the first 5 minutes of the episode… I was about 15 minutes into it and knew their original creeper suspect wasn’t the one - so who else could it have been but the Senator’s aide?
yeah, Verdun “the dawg” Detective Agency - has a nice ring to it!

eta: at first I liked Kasie, but she is really starting to work my nerves; don’t know if Diona Reasonover is aiming for an Emmy nom, but she ain’t gonna get it with that performance…

I will say that the elevator scene with Palmer and Knight was sweet and that a lot of people, including the senator owe Palmer an apology.

Was going to give this one a "C". Perfectly average episode with a good moment or two. But there were just too many things that annoyed me, so I dropped it a letter grade.
So...ONCE AGAIN, I picked out the baddie who was introduced in like the first few minutes of the show. I just figured he was having an affair with her and the victim was going to tell her mom about it so he killed her. So go the perp right, but the motive wrong this time. And I didn't understand why they couldn't figure out who she was at first. Aren't all those who serving in the military have their fingerprints on record? Just don't see how they couldn't identify who she was at first instead of tracking where her car was.
Senator mom also annoyed me. Yes, I am sure she is distraught and probably feeling some guilt about her daughter being murdered. But that doesn't give her carte blanche to interfere in a federal investigation. Just hated that TV coroner dude. He was so over the top bad. Just pretty much a total a-hole. And just because she is a senator doesn't give her the ability to demand Jimmy being fired. Besides, he has worked on plenty of high profile cases. Here I was hoping for Ducky appearance to set everyone straight. But alas, that didn't come. And I know Vance has to be careful at times and play the political game with certain people at certain times. But I wish he would have backed up Jimmy and said, "Listen, I totally trust his findings. He has given me no reason to doubt his conclusions in the past, and I am not starting to question him now. I back him and his work completely. Now back off and let us do our jobs."
I did like the elevator moment with Jimmy and Knight. Though you would think him being a doctor working for a government agency like NCIS, he would have a decent dental plan and wouldn't be fretting so much about braces. Or vehicle repairs. But I still liked that scene with them together then. Also, this season the casting team has done a pretty good job at finding actors to play creepy guys. This one was also outstanding in his role. Gave me the willies just watching him look into the camera.
Hope we never see TV doctor dude again. If so, good riddance. So anyway, while this episode had some redeeming qualities...it was dragged down by too much silly/stupid stuff for me. D+ is my grade for this one.

Not too much to add here. I also picked the aide out right away; figured he was just getting rid of her for causing too much trouble, which was part of it. Anne-Marie was definitely a hateful soul here, but it was mentioned that she did go through SecNav to get her ME on the case. Trading political favors like that is actually realistic. I doubt Jimmy will get an apology from her. Technically, no matter how much he deserved it, slapping the aide at the end does qualify as assault. Of course, if they were being realistic, he would have been in cuffs well before that.
Don't want to see the Hollywood ME again, but I wouldn't object if at some point next season Jimmy receives a royalty check from the book he declined to co-write, even if that would be impossible without him signing a bunch of things that would keep it from being a surprise.

I wasn’t gonna write this, but it keeps bangin’ around in my head - so I’ll just say it and be done with it…
imho, the writers have created Palmer as if he’s two different people… on the one hand they write him as a doofus, clown, goofball- take your pick! on the other hand they treat him as a mature adult who speaks words of wisdom to his colleagues… so, which is it? child or adult?
brgjoe wrote:
I couldn’t agree more with this statement! a man Palmer’s age, late 30’s/early 40’s, working in his position with the government is definitely making some major dinero as well as receiving medical/dental coverage for himself and his dependents; so, braces for his daughter should not be a problem… (a very quick Google check showed me some info on the subject of salaries…)
likewise, why is he driving a junker vehicle? same thing - he’s making some major $$$! he can afford better… I get this mental image of him driving around with Jess in an old “beater”… 🙄 nah! ain’t gonna’ happen….
so, once again it comes down to the writers not doing some research and just writing whatever drek comes into their heads… writing Palmer as having problems affording braces for Victoria and driving a vehicle that needs constant repair is about as believable as making us believe he became a doctor on the “q.t.” AND a Medical Examiner, as well! did I say, “Nah”?
well there, I’ve said it!

I am a little late ... actually just watching the episodes now .
Good medical benefits do not translate to good dental coverage. I am really not sure why. My husband worked both and state and private levels and we have had great medical benefits but or dental does not have good coverage. Thankfully I am very healthy but do not have good teeth. I am shocked at what I pay after insurance and really feel for elderly or families or anyone where money is tight ....
