Another good location could be the Philippines. Recently, the first American television series to be set and filmed there was established, called "Almost Paradise". Apparently the people there are very accommodating and the scenery is awesome, though as an island it might look too similar to Hawaii. Philippines has no NCIS office. Instead of Rota, Spain they could do Naples, Italy. Naples is the Main Headquarters for Europe and Africa. So you could have stories all over these continents. That would be interesting. Wide variety of locations and stories.

in reality I guess it really doesn’t matter what country/location they set another NCIS spin-off in… considering most of the filming is done on a back lot in the Los Angeles area…
I do think they film most of Hawaii on location, but I could be wrong… perhaps the indoor scenes are filmed in L.A., too…
the logistics of filming in a foreign country would probably be cost prohibitive… in fact, I’m surprised they have even chosen to locate this newest iteration of NCIS in Australia!
but, hey, what do I know? just random thoughts coming to mind…

nas Hawaii and New Orleans were filmed on location and in studios over there, probably the same for Sydney. NCIS and LA are filmed in Santa Clarita soundstages/Universal Plots/LA area Europe would be filmed like Hawaii, on location and in studios in the area. So why should it be more costly? Pretty sure European actors are cheaper than some of the current American ones. Except they get a well known name which I doubt. A Europe spin off would be more about location like New Orleans. Hawaii unfortunately doesn't make much about his location (except they changed that in the mean time). But think about all the beautiful places in Europe.

good answers, jessielee…. thanx! I wasn’t thinking it thru’; of course they’d use studios in other countries, nas! ergo, no extra costs… duh!
true, there are many beautiful places in Europe! unfortunately I don’t think the writers would be putting so much emphasis on locale as they would on catching the “bad guy”, so we wouldn’t be seeing much of the Colosseum or the Eiffel Tower, etc., etc…
all that said, I don’t think we have to worry about any of that because: 1. nobody’s calling and asking us for suggestions on locations for new NCIS spinn-offs, and…. 2. unless they settle the WGA strike, we’re not even gonna get new episodes of the original and Hawaii…

not that I have anything against Australia - some of my favorite animals live there - but I have to wonder why they chose that location for this latest iteration of NCIS… 🤔
NCIS is incredibly popular in Australia. This show was being solely produced for Australia and up until the strike dragging on, I don't believe that they had any intention of showing it in the US. I also don't believe that there was any intention to connect this iteration with any of the US based shows.

I was going to say the same thing. That there really wasn't any desire initially to show NCIS:Sydney in the US. It's only because of the writer's strike that they are deciding to go ahead and show it here now.
It will be interesting to see how it will play here in the US, since it wasn't really meant to be shown here. My guess is the higher up's really don't care. They just want to have some new programming to be shown. Though it would be kinda cool if it did become a hit over here in the States.
And I did visit Australia once years ago. Beautiful country with really nice people. Though sometimes some with really think Aussie accents were tough to understand when speaking really fast. So I really probably need to turn on Closed-captioning for this one. Or maybe subtitles are included. Heh.

I'm not 100% sure this is new, but just ran into a trailer that was posted 2 days ago on Youtube. It doesn't have me enthusiastic. The lead agent hits me as abrasive and without much charm. Others may disagree.

I ❤️❤️‘d the 🦘 and 🐨 immediately, Hari! 😊 the hoomans will have to go a bit before I decide…
🤔 why are they waiting until November 13th to air this? 🤷♀️
eta: don’t count on Closed Captions, brgjoe! in the scene where the guy says, “this is my “harbor”, the cc reads “this is my “heart”… gotta love cc! it’s so entertaining sometimes… 😅

I recently traveled to Australia & New Zealand from the States. Spent 25 days & I had a great time. Visited Hobbiton, Australia Zoo, Great Barrier Reef & of course the Opera House just to name a few. I found it harder to understand the New Zealanders more then the Aussies.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about the schedule change. Makes sense that probably a lot of eyeballs will be on ABC airing MNF once again.
I don't have high expectations for this -- especially since it wasn't meant for US audiences anyway. But am curious to see how this turned out.

But "strike" is good if you're a pitcher.
