That ending was the very definition of a cliffhanger!

Yep. I dare say that ending was a bit of a cliffhanger, wasn't it?
Pretty much as much as I disliked last week's episode, I liked this one about the same. I did have a few nits to pick as I usually do. But for the most part, I wound up liking what I saw.
So let me get some of the nitpicking out of the way first. Did Bev(?) even vet the clown for the b-day party? Like go to whatever site for "Yelp for Clowns" they have online these days. I suppose reviews can be spoofed and such. But it sure looked like the clown really didn't have to do much to fool her that he was a real life clown and all. And once they had pictures of said clown, they didn't run him through facial recognition? If they did, I missed it. And in the climatic scene, the baddie sure didn't search JD much for another gun. Though I suppose he was in a bit of a hurry and all.
I thought everyone was generally competent in their jobs. Pretty slick of JD to tamper with the box to make it look like the main baddie wanted blonde baddie dead in that bunker. And not a bad plan to give blonde baddie a gun to help them finally take out fake bad clown dude. And outside of that facial recognition thing, I thought everyone was pretty decent in doing their jobs. As least as realistic as can be in the NCIS-verse. I also laughed at "TestostAroma for Men". Could easily see something like that marketed in Australia. And Blue didn't particularly annoy me in the 2nd straight episode. So there's that.
Interesting cliffhanger and stuff. Though I think it's a bit of a false flag. Rankin(?) has always seemed like a scummy, smarmy, sketchy sort of dude. It's too obvious to me anyway that he is involved in all of this. But then again, this is NCIS where a lot of times the bad guy is obviously obvious. We'll see.
At least I hope we'll see. I think it deserves another season. Though I do wonder how this is being received in Australia. That was the market that originally was going to get this show anyway. But I hope the show gets renewed and we can still watch it here stateside. I already like it better than NCIS:LA (which never seemed like NCIS to me) and NCIS:Hawaii (which I kinda likened to Hawaii:Five O-lite).
Edit: Forgot to put my grade down. I gave this one a B+.

I enjoyed this episode. It was entertaining and not always predicable.
I do hope the show gets renewed.

The clown she hired was a legit clown. The bad guy abducted the legit clown and took his place. The guy who died in the exploding van was the legit clown. Apart from that, government agents dressing as clowns isn't a new idea:

Oops. You're right. Good catch. Real clown got taken out, didn't he? Sorry, Bev.
