It was a slow start, I don't like slow starts.
Once they got away from the ridiculous, it was pretty good.

This one didn't take itself too seriously, which fit. One minus is that I think they did the AI of the dead person before, and it was a hologram instead of a screen. That said, I'd give a 10/10 if they had just named the virtual lady 'Maxine'. 😺

believe it or not, I actually found this episode more entertaining and believable than most of the episodes the writers have been creating lately…
re the scene towards the end when the AI guy was talking to his deceased son as he became personified: 😥 great acting by both of them… 😌
eta: about the final scene when Kasie states her findings: to quote Giorgio Tsoukalos: “We are not alone - we have never been alone.” 👽

Given the size of the universe, there's definitely no way we're the only planet where life has evolved, but it's also unlikely that the alien life is casually stopping by discreetly.
As for Kacie's findings... While element 116 has been created (Livermorium), what we have synthesized is extremely radioactive and unstable and lasts for a fraction of a second before falling apart. The discovery of a stable version in sufficient quantity to make a projectile would have had the scientific community going nuts. There's absolutely no way they wouldn't be trying to collect another sample to run through another mass spectrometer to verify the finding (and unlikely they'd have trouble finding a volunteer to run it). Considering the machine shorted out, she should have at least considered the possibility of a false reading.

Hopefully, this is not the beginning of an arc. Neither good nor bad episode. Wife, grandson, and I all yelled "drone" at about the same time when they couldn't figure out how the guys was killed. They need to make the hologram lady a regular.

I was wondering how folks would rate this episode. I am surprised that a good number of you liked it. Because I was pleasantly entertained by it as well. Then again, I'm a scifi fan and I like some of the "Ancient Aliens" vibes this episode gave me. Also sort of gave me a Halloweeney kind of feeling to it as well. Maybe it was meant to be a Halloween episode before the strike(s)?
I still had a few issues with it though. When the guy was shot through that window. They said there were no trees and helicopters would have been heard. Ok, but they have this technology invented now called "ladders" that might have been used. And so somehow there is this contact drug that you can put on a door handle of a car that can make someone go to sleep for a few hours? And how did he move the car? Did he push it a couple of miles himself? Good thing Torres relieved himself outside, otherwise I guess his plan would have been foiled.
I get why the guy would bring his dead child back to life via AI. Kinda like he did with the grandmother (who I thought was a hoot!) AI project he was working on. But why would he use his persona in some top secret drone project? That seemed weird to me. Though I also thought the kid did a good job of acting. And that backdoor method to me seemed kinda out there. But I no nothing about techy backdoor hacks, so umm...sure..OK.
Also just can't quite wrap my head around that element 116 or whatever it was. So this stuff can be used (somehow by some mystery company or...ALIENS!) to use as projectiles to shoot someone and then it just dissipates inside the body? And apparently can be used in hundreds and thousands of attack drones? Seems a bit on the slightly far-fetched side to me, even for this show.
But I give the writers credit for trying something different and not quite your typical NCIS "case of the week" episode. So I gave it a B-. Also, less said about the stupid McGee beard poll, the better.
Edit: Forgot to add, I wonder if this is the beginning of the arc mentioned earlier. Like some "Bond Villain" who has some grudge against the gov't or NCIS is going to use these things to carry out terrorist type actions now. I hope not.

As I said previously, the actual 116 that was created lasted less than a tenth of a second (I personally oppose even calling them elements when they don't even last long enough to truly evaluate), and if someone created a stable form that would last long enough to use as a projectile, I highly doubt they could time everything that well. The other thing is that if it did dissipate, it would have left behind significant radioactivity which would have been highly dangerous for everyone that was around that body. After doing the autopsy, Jimmy could definitely forget about any possible kids with Knight.
