Puts honey on everything: They definitely forgot Palmer is diabetic. Kitchen remodel: My wife knows a family that got one of those reality show kitchens. It looked great, but really amplifies how bad the rest of the house looked (saw it about 10 years ago).

NCIS: Texas? Maybe another spinoff idea.
I thought it was OK-ish. It was kinda nice seeing the team in a different area of the country. Not sure I buy Torres being an expert on horses as well. But..whatever. And I thought that horse chase was kinda cheesy. And I totally did whiff on who I thought the baddie was. Thought for sure it was the sheriff. Perhaps she was bribed or even blackmailed into doing the killing/dismemberment thing. Oh and speaking of that, did they really have to do a closeup on the chopped up torso? Yech. But yeah, I didn't suspect it would be the lady ranch person. She was like on the screen for maybe, what, 2 minutes? Seemed a bit odd to make her the killer (or the one who had the killing done). They do have some ambitious young ladies in recent episodes, don't they? The sniper lady who was also a world class hacker. And now this person who apparently works the ranch by day and organizes a meth distribution network at night. They may be evil, but they apparently do have a nice work ethic..heh.
I thought the Tim/Delilah plot was kinda weak. So a couple of things have to be repaired or maybe replaced, but the whole kitchen needed remodeling? And can they do that in the first place? I thought Tony still owned the apartment(?) But I could have missed him selling it at some point I suppose. And I thought when they were talking about remodeling, I thought maybe they meant make it more handicap accessible. Kinda surprising to me they didn't bring that up at all -- not even in passing. And then the silly reality show angle? Is it really wise for two federal agents to be on a show like that? Wonder how their superiors would think about such a thing. So in the end they decided not to. Okay. But they could have left that growth chart alone. And it's only the kitchen the would be working on -- not the whole house which I am sure has reminders of the twins in other rooms. But again..whatever.
So..nothing great, nothing horribly bad or stupid either. Just kinda...meh. So was going to give it a C+. But since they kept me guessing a bit on what would happen next for a change, I upgraded to a B-.
Finale next week, I guess. Oh and I guess they didn't bother changing the NCIS:Hawaii promos. They kept talking about it being the "season finale" and not the "Series Finale". Either that or the promo department didn't get the cancellation memo.

Not a great episode. But I watched all the TV Westerns in the 1950s and more than my share of the "B" Westerns at matinees. So I was rooting for a horse chase where the good guy leaped off the horse onto the bad guy and both tumbled to the ground. Got close, but I missed them not playing something like the "Magnificent Seven" theme as the chase commenced. Drat. Nice to see Delilah this season.

Starting to sound like I was the only one who guessed the killer, and by the same reason others dismissed her - most of the episodes have the killer as the one you see on the screen one time only.
I found the kitchen remodel to be stupid for different reasons than I've seen given. They supposedly need it because the twins have been destructive, but they are around 6-8 years old. Why would you give them a brand new kitchen to destroy? And that growth chart - I've never seen one with neat, perfectly level lines going all the way across. Every one of those I've seen is a rough hash mark about 1/2-1 inch long where the pencil has gone back and forth 2 or 3 times. As for the reality show aspect, firstly Tim could have created some drama by insisting on the pizza oven (yes, it was Torres' idea) and secondly, they might like the idea that it would prohibit them from doing undercover work since that has caused them some trouble in the past.
And while not central to the plot, I was annoyed that everyone forgot that Jimmy was diabetic.

I liked the episode, didn't love it. Concerning Torres and his riding skills, Wilmer mentioned in a recent interview that he did know how to ride a horse; he grew up riding. I didn't guess the bad guy/girl either, I thought it was the sheriff. Maybe the kitchen remodeling would have been better if there was some disagreement. The one question I have is "where do the kids sleep?" Isn't the apartment a 1 BR?

you are correct, gibbsgirl! the apartment that once belonged to Tony is a “bachelor pad”… so the writers have either retconned the apartment to now have another bedroom - OR the kids are sleeping on a sofa bed… I never could figure out why Tim and Delilah moved into that apartment with twin babies back when, and it makes less sense now 8 years later!
I did a quick search on salaries for NCIS Agents and found this:The estimated total pay range for a Special Agent at NCIS is $109K–$168K per year, which includes base salary and additional pay. The average Special Agent base salary at NCIS is $126K per year. The average additional pay is $8.8K per year, which could include cash bonus, stock, commission, profit sharing or tips. McGee is a 20 year agent so one could expect he’s on the high end salary bracket, right? so instead of spending a boatload of $$$ on remodeling the kitchen in that tinyazz apartment, go buy a friggin’ house with a yard for the kids! should have done that years ago!! that whole remodeling subplot was plain old idiotic! 😡
(eta: this is the Wikipedia description of Delilah: the wheelchair user wife of Timothy McGee who works as an intelligence analyst at the US Department of Defense.
so, unless she’s not working any longer, their dual income should easily make owning a larger house very doable…)
a few more comments:
~~ Delilah is a shrew! bitchin’ the way she does is unbecoming… I know I shouldn’t hate her - she’s just written that way…
~~ Palmer the Beekeeper - - more like the return of “Palmer the Doofus”! spilling honey on the floor and not cleaning it up? not washing his hands so the paperwork gets sticky? not amusing…
~~ Torres the Horse Whisperer - - broke that horse in under 60 seconds! seriously!? 🙄
~~ the “bad guy, er, gal” - - pulls out a gun and shoots the boss - why? then she jumps on the horse to get away! where the heck was she “running” to? that whole chase scene/shooting at Torres was purely laughable…
I wasn’t gonna write this post, but Maxine said: ”Write it, nas, before your brain ”
so, there it is - I wrote it! imho, this episode was … the writers of this drek don’t deserve whatever raise they got from their strike…

The apartment was 1 bedroom for certain when Senior crashed with Tony, but that didn't even look like the same set to me. 20 years in the same house and there's been a couple kitchen mods (painting, new backsplash, I think I did the GFCI outlets in the first year), but not what's called a remodel at my place. My wife has talked new appliances a couple of times and I say I'm fine with it, then nothing past that. Probably would have been done if I'd disagreed with it. 😺
I'm not sure if Delilah is still with DOD or not. She's definitely teaching at least one college class and didn't seem to have any trouble getting over to NCIS to see Tim (including getting past security and to the office without a visible escort). It probably depends on what sort of access she needs to have in the specific episode. She didn't need her own clearance in this one, so the status wasn't mentioned.
I don't know if you want to call it sloppy work by Knight and Torres or sloppy writing, but letting the girl pull her gun, shoot the boss, and ride off on a horse is just terrible field work. If MH was still on the show, it definitely would have been Gibbs hopping on the horse and chasing her down.
And as a tribute to Knight's "everything is big in Texas" remark:
A man walk into a hotel restaurant and sits down at the food bar and orders a hamburger. The hamburger is the biggest burger he's ever seen. "Why is this so huge?" the man asks. The bartender says, "Well everything is big in Texas." Then the man orders a beer, and this too is very large. "Man why is that so big, I'll never be able to finish it." "Well I told you, everything's big in Texas." The man eats his food and finishes off the beer, gets drunk, and has to use the bathroom. "Sir, where are the bathrooms?" "Down the hall and to the left." So the man goes toward the bathroom and forgets which way the bartender said, and goes to the door on the right instead. He walks through the door and straight into the pool. He flails around and starts screaming, "Don't flush! Don't flush!"
