When was the last time we had a Halloween episode? Looking forward to it Looking back, I think the last one that specifically mentions Halloween is Beneath the Surface way back in season 16.
Also, the original post has been updated withe the press release.

Another episode with things I liked and things I didn't: 1. The opening scene between the SEAL and the house guests was wonderfully fun. 2. Hadn't seen Donna Miles in a while and it was good to see her playing a grandmother. Also liked the "butler" most of the time (but he began to wear on me). 3. Figured the bad guy. NCIS doesn't give that many lines to a throw away character, so he was either the bad guy or a red herring. He didn't show up again, so that left bad guy. OK, it's not a fool proof way to figure it out, but I'm amazed how often it works. 4. Loved how the different meaning of words like "treasure" figured into the story. I reminded me that words mean different things to different people.
Not fond of the talk in the lodge between Knight and Torres. Getting a little schmaltzy there. And I know that Parker's vision on the vessel is going to be a big deal later, but they need to back off on bringing it forward in each episode. Enough already.

Not too bad of a Halloween episode. So without delay...
Good: Group of civilian wannabe tough guys attack Seal, they go to the hospital and Seal doesn't have a single mark on him. I hate the episodes where some student or waiter who can barely tie their shoes takes down a combat veteran. Donna Mills - she's still got it at 83. Lenny - I'm sure some rolled their eyes at him, but I was amused and he did great with the facial expressions that revealed he was the one renting the houses. Could have done without the subplot for it, but liked that Ducky's office became the NCIS Break Room.
The treasure being only sentimental value, even though I saw that coming as soon as it was clear a treasure would be found.
Bad: In the hunting lodge, I was getting a shipping vibe with Torres and Knight. Even if Jimmy broke it off, you just don't date your BF's ex and Torres would be the first to say it to anyone else. Torres and Knight being afraid of a "haunted house". They think the chest is full of gold when the 110lb girl is carrying it like a football. Nobody in Hollywood seems to know that gold is heavy. Maybe it's different for others, but I don't have a designated delivery person and most of the time I don't even see them unless they need a signature. I certainly don't know any of their names. Also, real agents would have gone to the guy's house or workplace rather than ordering an package and hoping he would still be the one to deliver it.
Like many episodes, this would have been under the jurisdiction of the regular police.
What I should have caught and didn't: The girl was way too emotional about 'Hal' not being a squatter. I should have known she was the partner.

when Parker said he’d like “someplace besides his desk” to eat his lunch, the thought came to me: 🤔 there’s gotta be a dining room/cafeteria in that building for him to go to and eat, no?
observe - the NCIS Headquarters in Quantico, VA:
just sayin’ - - it’s the small things, folks!
question: Ducky wasn’t the Chief M.E. for their little team of 6 (if you include Palmer & Kasie) exclusively, was he? so why was it their decision alone to convert Ducky’s office to anything? answer: because the NCIS world is very, very small, I guess…
yep, another dumb scene - go get the guy! don’t wait for him to deliver a package! sheesh!! 😠 and I agree, Hari, definitely not a case for the NCIS!

Which was addressed: Torres: "Lunch? We have a commissary! Parker: "Yeah, where we never seem to go." And I'm thinking, "Whose fault is that?"
Know what else the Russell-Knox building has? A fitness center, Army CID, Air Force OSI (Oscar Goldman is no longer with them), Defense Intelligence Agency, and Defense Security Service.

I thought it was a decent episode. Far fewer things that annoyed me about his one than the previous two episodes of the season. Ok, not the highest bar to clear.
Usually their Halloween episodes are done fairly well. This one is probably about middle of the pack. I could have done without the silly bickering between Palmer and Knight. Just get your issues resolved one way or another, pretty please? And yeah, it was kinda silly to have an order placed to the house for the agents to then arrest the bad delivery driver dude. I could maybe see if it was like a drug deal or something where they had to catch him in the act. But the way it happened in this case made no sense (other than for usual TV dramatics).
I liked faux British accent guy. Though I don't quite understand why he'd get a raise for renting out her grandson's house without grandson's permission. Unless I just missed something there. And yeah, I don't know if that hunting lodge was haunted or not. But with all those animal heads and spooky dolls lying around, it sure was creepy. I kept going back and forth between the girlfriend and the delivery man as the murderer. I immediately thought delivery dude when the camera quickly panned to him picking up candy. I thought that would be a clue -- like they would find a candy wrapper with his fingerprints at the scene or something. But then I switched to the girlfriend. Thought maybe he was scamming her out of more and more $$ and she had enough and decided to kill him before the party started. So at least I was guessing who the killer was this time around.
Don't know why McGee chose that particular moment to do a background check on the new deputy director. You'd think with his expertise, he'd do it from a place where it couldn't be traced. But at least it looks like they are going forward with the arc of him probably being outted as a mole. Hope they don't spend all season doing it though (probably will).
So anyway -- decent filler/themed episode. Enjoyed it more than it annoyed me. Would ordinarily give it a C+. But with one of my early crushes Donna Mills in it, it automatically gets upgraded to a B-. So there. Nyah.

I forgot to address this one in my first post, so rather than do an edit-to-add I’ll just write this:
I thought the exact same thing, Hari! I actually thought they were gonna dive into a long passionate 💋 right then…
I really, really hope the writers don’t go there… firstly, Jess with Palmer - and then with Torres? imo, it would be more than awkward! secondly, I see zero chemistry between those two… actually I didn’t think there was much chemistry between Jess and Palmer either; she always seemed to be making jokes about his idiosyncrasies… and thirdly, there are other women in the world for Torres! why would it have to be Jess? like I said before, the NCIS world is very, very small…

nas Because the writers don't seem to think a romantic interest can be found outside of work. Discounting the marriages of Gibbs and Vance that happened before they appeared on the show, Palmer with Breena is the only exception that comes to mind.
For Palmer, Breena came between Agent Lee and Agent Knight. Prior to retconning him with Ziva, Tony was with EJ and Jeanne (not an agent, but part of an undercover assignment) and in the 'What If' episode it was shown he would have gotten with Kate. Gibbs dated Mann and Dr. Ryan who were from other agencies, but he worked with them on cases after Jenny. McGee met Delilah in an interagency case, plus he had also dated Abby for a while. Prior to the Tony retcon, Ziva's true love was Rivkin, her fellow Mossad agent. Bishop had married Jake while they worked together at NSA then got with the translator guy at NCIS, and looked all set to get with Torres just as she was leaving. And finally, the two ladies Vance has been shown with include one who was spying on him and the other was a hook-up buddy that he saw at diplomatic functions for work.
I probably missed a few, but I doubt they weren't work related.

McGee and Delilah? At least it's been happy. Not a lot of those on NCIS.

I always thought that Kate would have ended up with Ari is she didn’t leave the show. Kate said he had Kind Eyes, Ari was flirty with her.
