I finally watched the pilot.
Interesting. Decent start. Darker than the original. Love the music, know most of them (was in my very early 20s back in 1991). Was nice seeing Gibbs aka MH again.
Mike Franks is stealing the show. Actor studied the character well.
Not seeing much of Gibbs in Gibbs. There were two three tiny moments were Stowell reminded me of Harmon. So he studied Harmons mannerism as Gibbs. He's actually not far from the functual mute.
Lala is annoying. What's her problem? Considering she's the her Gibbs talks about, not amused.
Strickland seems more serious than the one we got to meet first.
Randy, friendly. Not much to say about him right now.
Jackson, I could do without. Looks like they betray cannon.
Franks gets a file at the end from Strickland, who got it from the FBI. He's investigating..? Why do I get another feeling of ignoring cannon? That's the file about Pedro Hernandez maybe?
But Pedro was killed before Gibbs became an NIS agent. On the other hand, Gibbs is currently a temporary special agent ( can be seen when he's reporting for work), so that may be the work around?
More interesting than the Hawaii pilot. Still not sold on Austin Stowell. Despite blue contacts and the short hair, he unfortunately looks nothing like Harmon. Doesn't sound like him either.
That's really standing out because of the excellent job of Schmid as Franks.

I just realized that there is already an Inconsistency.
Gibbs told in the original show that Shannon and Kelly accompanied him to Camp Pendleton when he got deployed because they already bought the house in DC.
In the flashbacks in origins, it looked like they still lived at Pendleton.
I hate this inconsistency 😑

Gibbs said that when he was deployed they followed him to Pendleton.
From Hiatus: SHEPARD: There's more. They were murdered when Jethro was fighting in Desert Storm. Shannon witnessed the shooting of a Marine in Oceanside. She identified the killer as Pedro Hernandez, a Mexican drug dealer working Camp Pendleton. An NIS Agent was assigned to protect her. A sniper shot him in the head while he was driving their van. He died instantly. Shannon and Jethro's eight year old daughter Kelly were killed in the crash.
I took it that Shannon and Kelly moved with Gibbs to California for the duration of the deployment (where they would have the support of other families with deployed servicemen.) So they would have been living long-term in California while still owning their home in DC.
