Kill Ari: Part 1 (3.1)
Original Air Date: 9.20.05
Written By: Donald P. Bellisario
Directed By: Dennis Smith
PRE-ACT 1
Phoomph: Gibbs.
* I really liked that we got to see the events from the end of Twilight from Ari's point of view. Watching him watch "Team Gibbs" was quite chilling, especially knowing what was going to happen.
- Ari takes a shot at McGee but misses due to one of the other terrorists firing on him a split second before. This gives Tim a chance to take cover behind the NCIS car so Ari can't get a clear shot. He takes out the controller instead.
Ari then turns his attention to the roof and gets a clear shot on Gibbs just after Kate takes a bullet to the chest from one of the baddies on the roof - she's wearing a vest. Ari seems to consider taking out Gibbs for a couple of seconds before changing his aim and kills Kate with a single shot to the head.
Ari: "Sorry Catlin"
He may have said that, but he didn't sound like he was sorry - he sounded indifferent.
ACT 1
Phoof: Abby and Tony.
* I felt SO sorry for Ducky when he came into Autopsy. It was almost as if he was thinking "If I move slow enough I'll wake up and none of this will be real."
He could barely look at her.
David performance was very moving in this scene.
* I can't imagine the calls Gibbs had to make to Ducky and Abby.
* I really admire Sasha for being filmed in that body bag. Did you notice that Kate's hair was all sticky with blood?
* Rain. Like DPB I loved it for this episode. Tears from Heaven.
* Vision #1: Gibbs
He sees her as she was: Full gear and entry wound on her forehead. Mark did such a beautiful job in this scene.
K: "Why me Gibbs? Wasn't stopping one bullet enough for you? Why did I have to take two?"
G: "I.....I don't know."
K: "You don't KNOW? C'mon Gibbs, what's that famous gut telling you? Why did I die instead of you?"
I was so relieved that Tony and Tim showed up to give Gibbs something to focus on.
* They found Ari's brass on a roof top several hundred meters away. Both men are soaked to the skin. No bullets - Tony says they'll go back as Gibbs walks over to him. Tony, expecting a head slap ducks - instead Gibbs tells him:
G: "You're soaking wet, go change into some dry clothes."
* It was so hard to hear the description of what a full metal jacket does to the exit point. I thought it was nice of Tony to apologize to Tim after describing the damage to the back of Kate's head.
M: "Tony. Please."
T: "I'm sorry kid."
* No wind - Gibbs knows that Kate was the target.
* McGee knew that Ari had a thing for Kate. Tony didn't. I think this shows how much Kate trusted Tim.
* Why Ari didn’t kill McGee: The terrorist in the window.
* Gibbs needs to think but needs coffee to do so. Offers to get some for his "boys".
G: "Can I get you boys something?"
Both decline. I liked the slight pause and the look he gave them before he left.
M: "He called me Tim."
T: "He patted my back."
M: "It was kind of nice."
T: "Nice? I don't want nice. He’s not Gibbs if he's nice."
Abby. She's sitting looking at the sketch Kate had drawn of her as a bat.
The shot changes from outside the windows to inside looking out. If you look quickly, you can see Gibbs legs as he walks by.
* Vision #2: Kate as Goth. Long platinum blonde wig w/bangs. Silver cross with black felt choker collar. Black floor length "witchy" dress.
Abby hears Kate encouraging her to put on her black lipstick and tie up her pig tails - she loved her in pigtails. Oh, and to not start crying again.
* Kate realizes that Ducky is going to see the tattoo on her "bum" - and she's embarrassed. Abby finds this funny and starts to giggle. Enter Tony.
* Tony tells Abby that she's even weirder than Gibbs. Abby asks him how.
T: "He's being nice."
A: "He's always nice."
T: "To you and Ducky maybe, me he growls at and smacks on the head."
A: "Which makes you feel wanted."
T: "Yeah."
To the folks who don't like the head smack remember this. The head smack is just about as affectionate as Gibbs can get with the male members of his team.
* Loved Tony's reluctance in giving Abby Ari's brass. It was almost as if he didn’t give them to her it would all be a “bête noire”
* Tony is really good at giving people an outlet for their anger and/or grief.
* Abby: "I'm going to miss her."
Tony: "Me too."
Nice to see them grieve together. That might have been the best hug of the series.
* Uh-Oh! As Abby and Tony are hugging cross hairs appear on Abby's back through one of her windows.
ACT 2
Phoof: Gibbs and an unidentified woman.
* Ari is one patient SOB. He waited for Gibbs to walk back by before he took that shot. If he'd wanted Gibbs he could have very easily taken him.
* I am beyond impressed on how this show combines a very tense scene with humor. This very tense scene remains tense even when humor is inserted.
Tony pulls Abby to the floor and lays on top of her to protect her in case another shot comes.
A: You're heavy."
T: "Sorry." - yanks her by one arm away from the windows.
A: "No wonder you're so heavy. Tony, you're all muscle." Squeezes his thighs.
T: "Abby! Shhhh."
A: "You've got a nice booty too." (feels it too - sigh)
T: "Hey!, is this how you deal with getting shot at?"
A: "I don't know, it's my first time."
* Gibbs comes in and goes to Abby - has Tony get Metro to close off the park across the bay. Tells Abbs that he'll take care of her and picks glass (from the shattered window) out of her hair.
I've been trying to analyze this relationship for years now and may have finally gotten a handle on it. He's not really a father figure and she's not a substitute daughter. It's more like a much older brother who surprisingly (to himself) came to love a little sister after being ticked off at his parents for having a baby when he was a late teenager.
* Like the rooftop Ari left his brass behind. Gibbs knows it's on purpose - taunting him.
* Vision #3: Ducky - Kate is on his table covered to the shoulders with a sheet.
K: "I appreciate you keeping me covered in front of the others. Especially Tony."
She tells him that she didn't kill Ari when she had the chance (Bete Noire because there was something in his eyes that made her not want to kill him.
Ducky tells her that to him Ari's eyes were like ice.
* Kate goes back to being dead when Gibbs enters. They discuss why Gibbs is taking Kate's death so hard. He's lost men in combat before. "You hope you won't but know you will." Ducky points out the difference. Men. Gibbs hadn't lost a woman before. Says they're both chauvinists.
* Evidence garage. More humor.
Most of Abby is in the NCIS car boot looking for bullets (the ones that missed McGee). Tim is there "helping."
A: "Hey McGee, look at this." (he is! )
She's holding out a bullet for him to see and put in the evidence jar.
Three things made this scene.
1. She knows what he is looking at even without being able to see him.
"Stop staring at my butt and get me an evidence jar."
2. Gibbs coming up from behind McGee and HE knows what McGee is looking at.
3. McGee's stuttering reaction.
* Tony comes in and is acting like, well Tony. He's trying to get Gibbs to start acting more like, well Gibbs. Abbs calls him on it.
A: "Why are you baiting him?"
T: "I'm trying to get him to stop being nice."
M: "I like him nice."
Double whammy. Both Abby and Tony give him a head slap.
* Gibbs goes to see Director Morrow (one of the things Tony came to tell him)
The other agency directors have pledged support in finding Kate's killer.
Hmmm, they would have been looking in the wrong direction since none CHOSE to believe that Ari was involved.
* Kate's award: Presidential Medal of Freedom. On that note I wonder if the President sent someone to represent him at her funeral since she had been on his protection detail.
* Gibbs not old enough for Vietnam, thank you very much.
* After witnessing the missile hit.
D.M.: "Where was I."
G: "Avoiding using Ari's name and the word sniper in the same sentence, sir."
I am glad that Director Morrow believed that it was Ari. Unfortunately, there is nothing he can do about it any more.
The Director is leaving NCIS for a Deputy Directorship with Homeland Security. His replacement is...... not Gibbs (thank goodness).
D.M.: "I wouldn't shoot NCIS in the head."
I've said this before but I thought his choice of words was a bit insensitive given this was how Kate was murdered.
* The little smile on Morrow's face told me that he knew Jethro would be more than a little floored by who he was about introduce as the new NCIS director.
* New Director: "Hello, Jethro."
1st Gibbs flashback - romantic dinner, making love.
6 years since they last saw each other.
Tells her she was a good agent - especially undercover.
He looks happy to see her.
* This was the woman in the opening Phoomph for the act.
ACT 3
Phoof: Ari
* Let the battle begin. The New Director points out that there is no physical evidence linking Ari to Kate's murder.
G: "This Bastard already killed one of my people and he's trying to kill more. And I'll tell you something else, not suit with a tight sphincter is getting in my way and that includes you, Jen."
I was glad she confronted him on this statement. He never would have said the same thing to FORMER Director Morrow.
* The two of them leave after Gibbs tells Tony that he'll be back in an hour - Tony watches them as they leave - admiring Jen's backside.
Vision #4
Kate's hair is flipped like Mary Richards.
Navy/Black blazer w/emblem on left breast pocket
Red floppy bow tie.
White blouse
Very short plaid skirt.
K: "Your mother should have washed your mind out with soap. Gibbs leaves with a woman and your only thought is "Nooner."
T: "Was not."
K: "Was too. I've always known what you were thinking, Tony."
Tony kind of grins and leers at his vision.
K: "What? What are you up to?"
She realizes what he has her wearing.
K: "Tony! I just died and you're having a sexual fantasy."
T: "Can't help it." (he didn't deny it. )
Kate's skirt blow up revealing little white undies with what looks to be little red bows on them.
K: "DINOZZO!"
T: "Sometimes I used to picture you naked."
Kate screams!
(I laughed )
* Busted! An unfamiliar face walks up to his desk. She begins teasing him right off the bat. She knows he was having a sexual fantasy - he denies it but then fesses up.
* Woman is Ziva David - Mossad.
* After a lot of back and forth he turns serious and gets her to come to the point.
Says she's there to stop Gibbs from killing an innocent man - Ari.
T: "I'd wish you luck with that but I want the Bastard dead too."
Ziva looks rather stunned at the strong language after his teasing personality from a few moments before. Good!
* Gibbs basement. Obvious that Jenny has been there before - she seems right at home.
They have the conversation about the previous boat - Diane and what he did to her/it. (but I might run of of usable space so I won't put it all in here).
I will note that I wish the Jethro/Jenny relationship had stayed the same as in this scene.
He asks her to postpone doing an interview with the CBS Morning Show since Ari is sniping the people he works with.
* Nice way to educate the viewers regarding a New Orleans funeral by having Abby explain it to Tim. Dirge before the funeral - Jazz after.
* Just when you think Abby is going to blow a gasket, she does just the opposite. McGee (yes, I do back and forth between Tim and McGee) is bugging her and she wants him to leave. He can't because Gibbs told him to watch over her.
A: "Oh, that is SO sweet."
McGee thought she was going to blow too.
* Ziva has a lot of intel on Tony. From a wealthy family. Born and raised on the East Coast. New England boarding school. Spent time in the Mid-West and Philadelphia.
Personal Note: I wish she'd told us more. Why and When he went away to school. Something about his parents (ie: when mom died). Ah well, maybe it will come out someday.
* Ziva and Jen (Director Shepard) know each other.
G: "You first."
T: "Ziva David. She's here to stop you from whacking Ari." "Yours?"
G: "Director Jenny Shepard. Same mission."
T: "Which agency?"
G: "Ours."
Tony looks surprised. For that matter I guess I would be too. The change of command would have been announced and a ceremony would have been held - protocol.
* Ziva takes a phone call and Gibbs gut kicks into overdrive.
* Ari is on the phone - of course.
She tells him that she has a relationship with the new director and she may be able to convince her of Ari's innocence. Not Gibbs. Ari says to leave Gibbs to him. She's going to do a drop - passport and money so he can get out of the country. She tells him she misses him and doesn't want to lose him "too."
ACT 4
Phoof: Ducky in Crosshairs
* Ziva goes toe-to-toe with Gibbs over a Mossad mistake and Ari. He knows she's been in contact with him (as his control officer) or she wouldn't have known that Gibbs hung up on Ari during their last conversation.
* Vision #5
Tim this time and it makes Tony's look rather tame.
Superhero dressed all in black leather - top and pants. She dives over his head and lands on Abby's desk (he's in her "office")
K: "You're a naughty boy, Timmy."
M: "God, I'm turning into Tony."
Kate laughs and back flips off the desk and onto the floor in front. He outfit changes (now Timmy is really bad). Wearing a leather and silver - something (I'm not sure what to call it. A boostier (sp)?) Leather cuffs. Fishnets. Leather "cop" hat. Leather pointed collar. Very red lipstick. She's cracking a whip.
M: "WOW!"
He's caught by Abby and stutters his way thorough telling her: "I was remembering Kate." - NO DETAILS!
Abby sees her again, still in her long black dress
Tim looks over his shoulder and still sees her with her whip - she cracks it.
* Gibbs and Tony in the elevator. Only wish was that Gibbs had stopped it.
T: "Is he a mole or a terrorist?"
G: "Whatever works to play his game."
* Abby's lab. She has several rifles displayed.
G: "My old friend Marine M40 A1 Sniper rifle." (aka: Bravo 51)
Bad timing when McGee made the comment that it was "sweet" the way he held the gun.
* I loved that Abby got Gibbs to open up a bit to her. The Bravo 51 is called a Kate . Ari has been using the same gun that Gibbs used to and the same ammo.
* Yea, it's Gerald. Or should I say, Oh no, it's Gerald?
Gets in his car outside a pharmacy and Ari is in his backseat.
* Ducky is putting Kate to bed when his phone rings.
Gerald: "Hello, Dr. Mallard."
D: "Gerald!, how are you my dear fellow?"
Gerald: "I've been better."
D: "What's wrong?"
Ari gets on the phone. If Ducky comes to him, Gerald will be free to go.
Gerald: "Doctor, don't come. He'll kill you...:
Ari: "Learn to trust Gerald. I may have shot you in the shoulder (ball and socket joint) but I've never lied to you."
Hmm, I don't agree with Ari on much of anything but he was right with that statement.
* Vision 6
Gibbs again. Kate at her desk. Still dressed as in his 1st vision. She tries to get him to listen to his gut.
* Jen interrupts. Knowing Gibbs, we know how hard it must have been for him to ask her again to NOT do the interview with the CBS Morning Show. He says "please." (show that they had a personal relationship) She tells him she'll see if she can postpone it.
* Elevator doors open. Jen gets on with Ducky who is "going home." - Gibbs hears from his desk but the elevator doors close before he can get there.
* Ducky pulls up on a quiet street. Pavement is still wet. Ari comments: "A vintage Morgan - how Ducky." Ducky gets out of his car and head to Gerald's - who was instructed to flash his headlights to show Ducky where is was.
Ducky walks toward Gerald's car. Ari puts him in his cross-hairs.
I don't know about anyone else, but I more than half expected Ari to shoot him.
End Part 1.
Kill Ari: Part 2 (3.2)
For the 1st time in over 3 months I had a rare slow pet sitting weekend - only one visit and I got that out of the way before noon. YEAH!
Because of this I had time to do 2 of these in one day. However, I did watch K.A.- Part 1 last night but it was midnight before I got finished watching so didn't get it posted until today.
Without further ado.

Pre-Act 1:
This was only: Previously on NCIS - a quick synopsis of Kill Ari: Part 1.
ACT 1:
Phoomph: Gibbs
* Ducky and Gerald chat as they are exchanging places.
Gerald: "You shouldn't have come, Doctor."
D: "Couldn't let the Bastard put a bullet in your good shoulder or you'd never return to work."
Guess Gerald decided that NCIS was too dangerous of a place to work even as an ME assistant since he didn't come back after all.
* Poor Gerald. He tries to say something to Ducky but is cut off. We will very shortly find out what he wanted to tell him.
* Gibbs calls Ducky on his cell to yell at him for leaving the building. Abby tries to soften this by saying that Gibbs is yelling because he (she too) is worried.
* McGee Finds out why (gotta love his mad computer skills) Ducky left. Call came into Autopsy from Gerald's cell.
* Snork! Gerald gets in what should be the correct side of the car but only finds the glove box (done this myself when I was stationed in Japan). Ducky's Morgan is a Right Side Drive. He switches sides.
* Ari's gun was only the scope. Whew!
* Ducky expected to be shot (hey, I thought so too)
* Poor Ducky. He's abducted by Ari and Gerald is stripping the gears on his Morgan.
The look on Ducky's face is pained.
D: (calmly at 1st) "Use the clutch"
then (yelling now): Good God man, use the clutch." "You're stripping the gears!"
This dramatic scene became funny for a few moments.
Ducky is grimacing (me too) hearing his gears grind.
Ari: "This is too painful, Doctor."
D: (yelling even louder) "Gerald! Turn It Off."
I think at this point Ducky was more annoyed with Gerald than he was afraid of Ari.
* Abby and Tim decide that Ducky has met up with Gerald at a pub to talk about Kate. I don't think they really believed this but it was less frightful than the alternative.
* Ari and Ducky again. Ari doesn't care that Gerald is heading to NCIS. He tosses Gerald and Ducky's phone into a park.
* Good point Abby. Gibbs heads out to find Ducky and Gerald. Has Tim stay back with Abby. Tony is out.
A: "For nobody leaving the building, there are a lot of people leaving the building."
* Indoor pool at Ziva's hotel. Tony watches Ziva doing laps.
Vision #7: Kate is in the outfit that Tony visualized her in: Catholic School Girl uniform - (one that the Nuns would send you home for wearing )
K: "Why don't you visualize her naked?" Does she intimidate you?"
T: "A woman hasn't been born who can intimidate Anthony DiNozzo."
K: "You're forgetting your mother."
T: "Mother's don't count."
- Awww - Tony's mother sounds like a piece of work - mom's shouldn't be intimidating their little kids.
K: "And that lawyer. Marla?"
T: "Divorce attorney. Worse than mothers."
K: "Well, Ziva's not your mother. She's not a divorce lawyer. She definitely intimidates you."
T: "Does not."
K: "Does too."
T: (smiling a bit) "Does not."
K: (whispering) "Does too."
This is the Kate and Tony (Tate/Kony?) I miss. This was the same banter they had just before Dr. Brad made her leave the isolation unit in SWAK.
Also: This is the only way Tony could admit that Ziva DID intimidate him.
* More rain. Gibbs gets to where the GPS locater puts Ducky and Gerald's phones. Abby is back (still on) her pub theory. No pub. No cars. No people.
* Vision #8:
Kate is as Gibbs has been seeing her - full gear.
K: "It's going to happen again, isn't it? Ducky is going to take a bullet for you."
G: "He won't kill Ducky."
K: "Why not? Because he couldn't live with the guilt?" Maybe Ari (pronounced Are-E again) knows that. Maybe that's his plan. Maybe the only way to save Abby, Ducky and McGee is to kill yourself."
Hmmm, why didn't Gibbs think of Kate thinking of Tony being on Ari's list too?
ACT 2
Phoomph: Ducky
* Vision #8 is gone. Gibbs dials up Ducky's cell and hears it ringing - Scottish music.
HELP: I know the song that plays but I can't for the life of me remember the title.
* Gerald arrives at NCIS while Gibbs is on the phone with McGee (and Abby) on speaker phone.
* Back at the pool Tony is still watching Ziva take laps. Young woman excuses herself to enter. He notices she's wearing a Star of David necklace.
* Gerald must have told Abby and McGee about his stick shift challenge. Abby knows how which surprised McGee.
M: "What? You can drive a stick?"
A: "Yea (like duh) since I was like 10.
Gerald: "What were you driving at 10?"
A: "A red 47 Ford 1/2 ton pick-up with 4 on the floor and Bubba riding shotgun. Best darn coondog (misspelled on purpose because part of the word may have been edited) in Jefferson Parish."
Thanks USAF for the correction on the 47 FORD.
* Cell phone reception has the already taught Gibbs to be even more testy than usual. Tony requests pizza.
* Note to Gibbs. A conversation would last a really really long time if every word had to be spelled out phonetically.
Abby wants to go back to her lab and stops Gibbs at the elevator (he's leaving the building - again) to ask.
A: "Golf India Bravo Bravo Sierra?" (Somehow I really messed up and put "Echo" instead of "Sierra" for the end of GibbS name. Thanks IStoleTheCupcake!)
OK to go back to the lab but...
A: "Don't leave the building."
A: "Bravo Yankee Echo."
I really love Abby when she does stuff like this.
* Ziva had the money and passport requested by Ari (Thanks for the correction, Canada) in her robe pocket - hung up while she was swimming. Glad Tony's phone was capable of taking pictures.
* Ziva leaves the pool shortly after the other girl arrives. By her gaze she knows Tony (or someone from NCIS) is there.
* Tony realizes that when Ziva left she took Other Woman's robe. Looks in pockets of the remaining robe and finds an envelope full of money and a passport with Ari's photo but with a different name: Saurel, Rene.
* I have always liked and will continue to like Tony not being afraid of making a fool of himself to not blow his cover. He thinks on his feet and that makes him good at his job. Nude swimming "The Hackensack Nudist Society."
* If Ziva's contact was Mossad she wasn't very good. If she had been then red flags should have been waving in front of her eyes at Tony.
* Gibbs stole – from the night shift – the pizza Tony requested and brings him one.
T: "I love you, Boss." Awww.
Tony fills Gibbs in on the passport and the Ziva's contact.
Had to laugh when Gibbs grabs Tony arm as he's scarfing down the pizza while giving his report.
* Contact's description:
5'9, dark hair, blue and white jogging outfit, big gym bag, real pretty girl. Looked enough like Ziva to be her sister. Real pretty.
G "Maybe she is. Mossad's like the Mafia - one big happy family."
I think I'd like this woman to reappear. Maybe she IS a sister - one Daddy David never told her about even though they've met.
* Gibbs has McGee put out a Passport Alert on Rene Saurel (Ari).
M: (on other end of phone) "What category?"
G: "Terrorism!"
* Ya know I know Ziva needed to be watched at this point but why was Gibbs so adamant about no backup? Tony and Tim wanted Ari dead too and would have felt incredibly guilty over not being there to back up Gibbs if he did find Ari. Besides, they wanted him dead just as much as Gibbs did.
* Tony goes back to the hotel and Gibbs drives away to follow Ziva's contact after Tony points her out (she got in a cab).
* Gibbs is diverted from following Ziva's contact when he sees Ducky's Morgan driving toward him. He swerves and cuts off the car.
G: "Ari! Get out of the car, Ari!"
D: "Good grief, Jethro, put that weapon down. I've had enough excitement for tonight. Ari abducts me. Gerald strips my gears and you play chicken on a wet street."
Once again a dramatic episode gets a little humor. I found myself giggling at Ducky's admonition at Gibbs.
* At the moment Ducky seems to be leaning toward believing that Ari didn't kill Kate.
ACT 3
Phoomph: Gibbs and Jenny
* Wonder why Tony was standing outside the hotel since there are other ways in and out of the place? Ziva could have easily slipped away unseen.
* She knew he was following her from the moment she left the Navy Yard. Actually this is a good thing. A Mossad agent who doesn't notice things like this would not live very long.
* A note on Michael and Cote. They definitely clicked as Tony and Ziva. Their 1st scene together in Part 1 was good but it's this one that got my attention.
* Ziva offers Tony an Espresso - he takes the one she DOESN'T offer.
Princess Bride anyone?
* How did Ziva know there was a slice of pizza left in that box.
anyway.
Z: "I lost my little sister, Tali in a Hamas suicide bombing. She was 16 and the best of us. Tali had compassion."
T: "I'm sorry."
Z: "After Tali's death I was like Gibbs - all I wanted was revenge."
T: "Is that why you joined Mossad?"
Z: "I was Mossad long before Tali's death. Old..."
T: "....Family tradition. (BINGO Tony, even though you don't know it yet)
Z: "Israeli sense of duty."
T: "So c'mon, who recruited you? Father (yep ), uncle, brother, boyfriend?"
Z: "Aunt, sister, lesbian lover."
T: "You're good. You almost got me off the question. Almost."
Z: "I volunteered." (well not exactly - she was born to it.)
* Vision #9:
Tim sees Kate in a filing cabinet. Her head and shoulders are visible.
K: "Why haven't you come down to see me yet? If you don't peek at the back of my head I'll just look like I'm asleep. Sigh. I'm so lonely. I'd even welcome a visit from Tony."
Awwww.
* Enter Abby. (who once again interrupts Tim's vision).
* NRO was calibrating a new key hole and it was near enough to the warehouse district to get a shot of what happened.
Tim is on the street next to the car.
Tony is is standing by the ledge on the rooftop.
Kate is down - already dead.
Gibbs is down by Kate - he's covered her face with his coat.
* Unfortunately Ari is gone from his snipers nest but his car is in the alley.
Loved McGee trying to bend over to read the license tag.
A: "It's not a dress McGee, you can't look up it to see what you want."
Then.
A: "Yes yes yes yes YES!" She gets a better angle and they get the tag number.
Virginia Tag: 724 TJA
The hug isn't really a hug - McGee is just moving Abby from his desk to put out a BOLO.
* Before McGee rang up Gibbs, who was outside Jenny's house, I think he was thinking about going in. He calls Jen. I loved the look on his face as he hit each number and the sound he made when it was still the number he remembered.
G: "I need a partner for the night. You up for it?"
J: "Jethro, don't you know any other women?" Great look on her face.
G: "None that I can call for back-up. You didn't think I meant..." Hey this is Gibbs we're talking about - of course he used double meaning words on purpose.
This is the relationship I wish they'd stayed with rather than the Rogue Director story.
* Of course Gibbs had Tony tailing Ziva.
* Despite her protests Jen wanted to be in that car with Gibbs.
* Komemiute is the division of Mossad that specializes in Assassinations.
(I turned on captions so I think I got the spelling right)
* When Ziva saved Jenny's life in Cairo 2 years earlier she (Ziva) had to be very young.
* Agree with Gibbs - Jenny should have stayed a Field Agent. He was enjoying being on stakeout with her.
* A shooter takes his shot at their car. Passenger side. He misses - they don't when they give chase. It's not Ari.
ACT 4
Phoomph: Gibbs - Tony and Tim in background.
* Evidence is pointing away from Ari. (Gibbs knows otherwise.) The shooter was aiming for Jen - just like he did Kate and Abby. Shooter, Mohamad Esfiri, had the gun that killed Kate - a Bravo 51.
* SecNav offered his private jet to take "Team Gibbs" to Kate's funeral in Indiana. Jen tells them to go home and get some rest (since Kate's killer is dead).
* Gibbs doesn't buy for a moment that Mohamad killed Kate. Jen tells him he's not infallible.
G: "Hey Jen, why did he shoot at your side of the car last night?"
J: "I suppose you were right. He was trying to kill women who work with you."
G: "How did he know you were in the car? I called you on the spur of the moment. I parked in the dark. He couldn't see through our windows even with a scope. That guy was sent to die not to kill."
She finally begins to agree.
J: "I'm not saying you're right but if you are, how do we prove it?"
G: "We?" "You just joined my side?"
J: "Jethro, I've always been on your side. What do we do?"
G: "Kill Ari before he kills me."
* Tim goes to see Kate. Tony shows up for support. Tells Kate he was brave to come alone. I like that Ducky was watching them "put Kate to bed together."
Sorry I didn't write down the exact conversation - I was too busy just watching and listening.
* Rain. Fornell and Gibbs in the park. On a bench. A drenched dog is getting dry in a gazebo.
F: "Do you ever go to the movies?"
G: "I build a boat."
Fornell wants to tell Gibbs what he knows but can't. Suggests a movie - cut to Tony and Ziva.
* Tony is trying to keep Ziva distracted by talking about he film Fornell suggested to Gibbs ....The Peacemaker with George Clooney and Nicole Kidman.
* Ziva gets a teleconference call in MTAC from Mossad Deputy Director David.
T: "Ooo. Deputy Director David. Wouldn't be daddy would it?"
Z: "David is a common Israeli name."
T: "You didn't answer my question."
Something she's still good at - although at this point, only being Mossad, I can understand her not answering the question.
G: "Do you know why Ari left his brass behind?"
Z: "You are like a broken tape Gibbs."
T: "Record. Broken record."
G: "Lapua 308 casing, Boat-Tail. Molly coat. Full-metal jacket bullet."
Z: "That's what you shot as a Marine sniper. At Mossad we use Sierra 6.5 Hollow Points."
G: "How do you know what I shot Miss David?"
Jen: "She profiled you for Ari."
T: "Not just the Boss. That's how you knew where I was born and went to school."
She admits it.
Gibbs has the Director, Abby and Tony leave (where was Tim?)
G: "You found out about my 1st wife and daughter?"
I remember having an intake of breath when I 1st watched this episode when it aired originally.
Z: "Yes. I'm sorry."
G: "Then we know why Ari is shooting at women don't we."
Z: "If he wanted you to know he is the sniper why did he use your rifle - an M40?"
G: "The Bravo 52 he fired is called a "Kate."
Could see the wheels turning in her head - connecting the dots she doesn't want to connect.
* Gibbs tells her that they're not going to set up Ari for Gibbs but Gibbs for Ari. He's counting on her having his back.
* Gibbs basement. He turns comes in and turns on a light. He's carrying roses. He open his gun drawer - it's gone. Ari is there - he has the weapon.
* Ari: "I want you to know I wish I hadn't had to shoot Catlin."
G: "Then why did you?"
Ari: "To cause you pain."
G: "I piss you off that much?"
Ari: Not you. My father. You have the misfortune of reminding me of the Bastard."
* Ari admits he's a monster rather than the mole his father tried to create.
* Ari moves toward him and Gibbs moves over by the stairs. Ari thinks Gibbs is backing away.
* Oh, Ari plans to make it look like Gibbs committed suicide with his own gun BUT at the distance Ari is from Gibbs when he takes aim that would have been eliminated right away.
* Uh Oh! Ziva told Ari that Gibbs expected her to have his back. He believes that Gibbs wouldn't really trust Ziva. He takes aim at Gibbs.
* Ziva shoots Ari probably a split second before he shot Gibbs.
She comes down the stairs.
G: "His father was the Deputy Director of Mossad?"
Z: "Yes."
G: "Not David?"
Z: "Yes. This is my half-brother."
He squeezes her hand and leaves her alone with Ari. She begins to sing for him.
* I liked the transition between Ziva singing for Ari directly to an aerial shot of Kate's graveside service.
* Cluster of final Visions: (Number 10)
Tony's is from Terminal Leave when Kate is singing "Outrageous" in the shower and Tony has entered to brush his teeth.
Ducky's is from SWAK when Kate comes out of the isolation unit and goes to his waiting arms.
Gibbs makes it just in time to not miss the entire service. Tells Jen that Ziva is escorting Ari's body back to Tel-Aviv.
Tim's vision is from See No Evil when Kate is standing on his shoulders to climb in a 2nd story window.
Abby's is from ? (the one where she's made blue paper hats with flowers drawn on them - one for herself and one for Kate). EDIT: Caught On Tape - many thanks to Saraheka!
* Gibbs is the only one to not have a flashback. He sees her in her casket. No putty mark on her head. Summer blouse. Her posthumous medal around her neck. Rosary with red beads and cross around her hands.
K: "You're late for my funeral Gibbs."
She gives him a smile and he smiles back - briefly - before he looks wistful again.
G: "Sorry Kate."
* Gibbs, Tony and Tim are wearing black ribbons over their badges.
* Abby stops to say a word or two to Kate's mother. Asks if she can play something for Kate (she has a MP3/I-pod). Jazz begins to play as "Team Gibbs" walks away - Jen and Abby flanking Gibbs. Ducky, Tony and Tim slightly behind.
The End.
Bye Kate.

* Vision #1: Gibbs
* Evidence garage. More humor.
* New Director: "Hello, Jethro."
* Vision #5
* Vision 6

No pub. No cars. No people.
* Vision #8:
* Contact's description:
* Vision #9:
The End.
Bye Kate.
