@ SunshineBoozer
in defense of us die-hard football fans the Pats and Eagles gave us one helluva game yesterday! it was never one sided and it was great play right up to the last 2 minutes, but the Eagles persevered and won their first ever Super Bowl...
call me crazy, but I think it's so touching to see those big ol' football players crying like babies for joy because of their win... this is what they strive for; this is their ultimate prize!
I wish people would realize not all pro football players (and basketball players, too) are thugs and/or murders... there are some really great guys out there representing the professional sports world...
I may be in the minority among this group but I am, and always have been, a big pro sports fan...
nas
edit: unfortunately, I just read there were incidents of violence following the game by both winning and losing fans... imo, these are not actually "fans"! these are the idiotic, a-holes who have absolutely no respect for other people or private/public property... shame, shame on them! 😡 there is celebrating- and then there is celebrating! I just wish, for once, this kind of post-game cr@p wouldn't have to happen... it makes me sooo sad...😢 I'm one of those who watches the game for the adverts, and never watches the halftime show. This year, i thoroughly enjoyed both the game and halftime. Although I am not a fan of Justin Timberlake's music, he is one hell of an entertainer, and super talented. And being a Minnesotan, I was really touched when I saw Downtown Minneapolis all lit up up at the end in purple with Prince's symbol. The symbol was new, but I believe the purple downtown lights were already in place from the Vikings regular season.

For New York this game was a nightmare - either the enemy Eagles or the enemy Patriots .... I watched more of this years game then I have in past years because it was a good game and both teams were in it the entire time. Big sports family too nas - though for me it goes college basketball, pro baseball, college football, pro football, NBA, pro hockey golf soccer .... we watch them all and there are good people and bad people in all their ranks just like real life .... As for the post game rioting I just don't get it .... the destruction of property is criminal and just plain stupied...

@ usmcbrat
I guess when you're paying upwards of $5,000 for the ticket, the guy figured he actually bought the seat he sat in to watch the game...
the fool could have bought an entire room full of furniture and an 80" TV for what he paid for that seat!

I hadn't planned to watch the game, but it was definitely worth it! I hate one-sided games but both teams kept it interesting through the entire time. Not having a dog in the hunt made it easier to watch, as well.
Why do "fans" feel a need to act like fools? Rioting, looting stores, overturning vehicles and starting fires? stealing stadium seats? ? ? REALLY??? Talk about giving fandom a bad reputation. SMH

whoa, luckysmom! y'all really are a sports lovin' family, aren't you? how do you find time to watch anything else on tv - or do anything else, for that matter?
btw, New York may not have a winning football team, but one of your players has another "talent"... have you seen him? m.youtube.com/watch?v=QnnaXfhVoas(actually, he doesn't! Eli really is such - a - dork!! he better keep working on his day job!)

We don't really watch anything else ! NCIS is the only show I still follow!
That commercial was really funny! Yes Eli is a dork, but with the bad seasons the Giants have had, Eli meets the press (and fans) head on and never blames anyone else. You never hear him say the line did not protect him or the receivers did not play well ... all he criticizes is himself or a generic we did not play well, He handles himself well.

Good for Eli, sounds like he handles himself with class. Something that is sadly lacking in the world of professional sports and entertainment.

Happy St. Valentine's Ash Wednesday!
Have you ever been walking through a public venue and heard a snippet of conversation that had you wanting to stop and see where it goes?
"... until we got to the car and she went ape-s*** crazy. She should know..."

I have several thoughts on the ending to that convo, SunshineBoozer, but decided not to post them...

"... until we got to the car and she went ape-s*** crazy. She should know..." That's easy these days. Just stop in your tracks, pull out your phone and act like someone has sent you a message. I see people stopping in their tracks with their phones all the time and I'd be surprised if nobody ever faked it.

I wish that when they are shopping they would turn their phones off. I don't know how many times I have stood in line at a store, waiting to check out, and been subject to hearing a phone conversation from some one in another line. At least turn your volume so that everyone checking does know your private business. And even worse is driving on the interstate doing 10 mile over the speed limit so that you won't get ran over, and some idiot goes flying back doing at least 20-30 mile over the speed limit, texting. Saw that on I45 going down to Houston back when the speed limit was still 70.

Saw that on I45 going down to Houston back when the speed limit was still 70. I more often see the opposite. I come up on a car weaving like they are severely drunk and doing well under the speed limit and if I glance over as I go around them I see they are looking down below the level of the steering wheel and know they are texting. It's not as new as you think though. Before the heyday of cell phones I remember finding myself driving next to a girl with a book against the steering wheel and opened. She looked about college age at the time so I'm guessing it was for a class and not for fun.

I commute via public transit. It is amazing the 1/2 phone conversations you hear, in a box full of strangers. People speak as if they are along in their living rooms.
Rude though it may be, I have taken to not filtering my reactions (facial or verbal) at some of the stupidity.
Gal (early 20s) sitting across from me, placing a verbal order for whatever, name, address, phone #, card#, security#, at full volume. - Dear, you do realize any of the 50+ people on this bus could have taken down your information and would be well on their way to stealing your identity.
Gal (late 20s-early 30s) sharing a seat with me at rush hour, on the phone with someone, going off about what jerks (not her word) her parents are. She's being evicted, her parents have said she can come home, but they won't take her boyfriend. "Just because he hit me a few times." - I'm sorry, you should be on your knees thanking god that somebody loves you enough to care about your safety. "I gotta go, there's some "B" all up in my business."
Public loo, at work, phone sex in the next stall. - I hope it's good for him, cause it's doing nothing for me.
