‘American Pickers’ heading back to Michigan
Here’s your chance to be on hit TV show, sell some antiques
Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz and their team are excited to return to Michigan. They plan to film an episode of the hit TV series American Pickers throughout the region in September.
American Pickers is a reality TV series that explores the fascinating world of antique “picking” on the History channel. The hit show follows Wolfe and Fritz, two of the most skilled pickers in the business, as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques. They are always excited to find sizeable, unique collections and learn the interesting stories behind them.
The hosts of American Pickers were in Holly in 2016. During that visit, Holly resident John Lauve sold several items to the hosts including a classic Mini Cooper, 1960s Norton Motorcycle, some automotive corporate artwork and other odds and ends. The segment aired in December 2016.
Recently, Lauve learned that a famous actor bought his 1968 Mini Mark II Cooper S — NCIS star Mark Harmon. Harmon called him a week ago, and sent him a polite letter of inquiry. “I now own your former 1968 Mini Mark II Cooper S,” began the letter from the California-based actor.
Harmon asked whether Lauve still had certain parts for the car, like the steering wheel, carburetors, air intake and manifold. “I apologize for asking and taking up your time … this car is too important to me to not give it a try,” the letter read.
Lauve also received a signed NCIS hat from Harmon, including a “Gibbs 15,” make, a reference to Harmon’s NCIS character Leroy Jethro Gibbs, and possible reference to the show’s 15th season. It could alse reference Gibbs’ rule No. 15, which is, “Always work as a team.”
Wolfe and Fritz hope to give historically significant objects a new lease on life, while learning a thing or two about America’s past along the way. They are ready to find extraordinary items in the tri-county area and hear fascinating tales about them.
American Pickers is looking for leads and would love to explore your hidden treasure.
If you or someone you know has a large, private collection or accumulation of antiques that the Pickers can spend the better part of the day looking through, send them your name, phone number, location and description of the collection with photos to: americanpickers@cineflix.com or call 855-OLD-RUST.
