I just watched the second TV movie "Maigret", staring Rowan Atkinson on PBS tonight. I never liked Atkinson's comedy, but he is fantastic in this as Chief Inspector Maigret. Why do comedy actors wait so long before they take on serious acting rolls. It's not that I don't like humor, or comedy, but I just never liked what he did, or most British comedy for that matter. Had he done more serious work in his younger years, he might have found himself with at least one Oscar Nomination.
