I still remember that first night. I hadn't been a JAG watcher, so I didn't know it was a spinoff, and had no preconceptions as to what to expect. The show I watched that night was well produced, cast, acted, and most of all, written! I remember turning to my wife and telling her, "If they keep that up, I'll watch every night!" I figured it would last 6, maybe 7 seasons, and looked forward to them. Little did we know.
Cheers!!

I think Yankee White did an excellent job of introducing the characters and setting the scene, all included within an interesting case story.
It's an episode I want to watch over and over, which is not something I can say about many much later episodes.

Yankee White (1.1)
Wow! I was going through my Word documents and stumbled upon my notes for this episode. Since I'm busier than I expected to be this month I was glad to find it.
Yankee White (1.1)
I always forget just how much I like Yankee White until I re-re-re-watch. I always catch new stuff when I re-re-re-watch.
* Kate is the 1st NCISer we hear speak - even though Kate's not working for the agency yet, she is the 1st regular we hear.
* When I saw this episode (movie buff that I am) I immediately noticed that Air Force One was the same plane from the movie of the same title.
* Our 1st look at Gibbs is him working on his boat. Hopefully, the last scene of the series will be of him will be him sailing away on it.
* Dennis (the Airport security guard) is the one to say: "NCIS, is that anything like CSI?" (of course, Tony responds with: "Only if you're dyslexic.")
* Ah, Ducky was a storyteller from the very beginning -
* Kate was great. Not at all timid, in fact she was tough as nails. Still love her comment about growing what she needs - like a certain species of frog.
* Always love the little wave that Tony gives Fornell when he closes the plane hatch on him. (In one of the Season 1 DVD special features Don Bellisario said that it wasn't in the script, but ad-libbed by Michael).
* I liked that Tony was a bit more grown up. Yes, I like his humor but I'm glad they introduced him as more of a serious agent.
Roll Reversal: *a: Did anyone else catch this?: Tony was the 1st one to say: "Ya Think" Happened when Ducky said that 36D might be wishful thinking after Tony was explaining to Kate why he was doing sketches to go with photos.
*b: Gibbs made the movie reference to Air Force One, not future movie buff, Tony.
* Rules mentioned: 1. Never let suspects stay together 2. Always wear gloves at a crime scene 3. Don't believe what you're told - double check. Just a though: I wonder if Gibbs' rules started out being specific to the person he was talking to. #1 with Jen (years later but learned years earlier) was: "Never screw (over) your partner."
* Kate ran for one of the other heads when she got sick rather than go to the closest one - the Presidents.
* GRRRRRR! Fornell calling NCIS "bush league." Then commenting: "We're back in the ballgame" after getting control of the case back in the hands of the FBI. HA! He'll learn to not underestimate "Team Gibbs".
* Kate in later episodes would never have said (to anyone) what she did to Ducky: "Did you think I was a virgin." When she admitted that she and the Major (Tim) were involved.
* OK. I have to agree on really watching during this viewing, that Gibbs and Kate exchanged some pretty steamy looks. I have a feeling that if he hadn't hired her, he would have asked her out.
* Whereas Kate ran for another head, Gibbs had no problem using the President's. Seeing that he did this, he shouldn't have gotten (mildly) upset at Tony and Ducky taking each other pictures at the President's desk.
* "Never say you're sorry......" No rule # in this episode.
* Gibbs to Ducky as he was bedding down on an autopsy table (commenting on Gerald's saying that Abby wasn't sleeping, but at a party that sounded "Fat"): "Why would Abby go to a fat party?" Three things: 1. He has no clue what this is. 2. I have no clue what this is. 3. Is this term even used anymore, or is it Late 1990s or early 2000s?
* Abby. OK, I've noticed this before but never commented on it. The part in the back of Abby's hair to form her ponytails (several of them, not just 2) is in the shape of a cross.
* Tired Tony delivers evidence to Abby. She tells him that there's a futon in the corner. Tony: "Bless You." Abby: "What are you? My priest"? Tony: "Curse you?" Abby grins. Abby (along with Ducky) were the best developed characters when the series kicked off. Where did that futon go in later episodes?
* Gibbs says "please" - has he said it since? (I know he has but I can't recall when).
* Kate spilling her personal information to Gibbs was just weird. He had his stare down already. Didn't say a word as she rambled on and on.
* I liked that Director Morrow interjected to Gibbs why Tony hadn't gone off to investigate the dry cleaner - it seems that Tony was going to but the Director stopped him and handed that part of the job over to the FBI.
* Gibbs calling Kate: Sweat Pea. What a giggle.
* Lead Secret Service agent aboard the President's plane thanks Gibbs for what he did - shooting the "reporter" (same guy from earlier who asked about his "15 minutes of fame"). Gibbs thanks him back but Lead Agent doesn't know that Gibbs is thanking him for accepting Kate's resignation so he could hire her.
* Question about the Red Head in the convertible. Question applies to this and the other episodes she appears in. How in the world does she know just when to pull up? OK, so there's not an answer, but I'm asking it anyway.
* End of episode is where we 1st saw Gibbs with his boat. As mentioned above, Gibbs and his boat need to be in the last scene of the series.

Recognizing the sets from Air Force One was a bonus. You're right, the re-watch factor is high with this one! Cheers!
