Is it possible that Gibbs will pull a Mike Franks and sail off with Marcie into retirement? Mark's not getting any younger. Maybe this is their way of testing the waters to see if people will still watch without MH.

nas Pssst: It was probably a cheap plywood model. I saw the kaboom picture on Twitter. The front angle shots of Gibbs in the boat were pretty bad green screen CGI and some of the other shots looked like it was a miniature (like the size of the toy Chickadee). I'm sure the toy size model was what was blown up.

for the sake of those those who haven’t watched the episode yet I’m going to put the following comment in a spoiler:
{Spoiler Warning - Click Here} just like in last week’s episode, I believe that no human body could withstand an explosion of that magnitude, and remain intact - no freakin’ way!! so for LJG to survive that “Kaboom!” (with his baseball cap only 3 feet away from him), and swim away - is absolutely ludicrous!! smfh! 😖

And this is why I don’t post what I feel about episodes. No point, especially when there are other sites that do like episodes. I will still come and see llyan’s info posts and once again, thank her for her efforts.

Question: Has everyone of the NCIS cast signed for Season 19?
the way Bishop has been acting, e.g., asking Gibbs if he “misses the team” when he‘s not working with them - - and her upcoming connection with Odette... it makes me wonder if her days with Team Gibbs are numbered...
that, and the trailer for the season finale where {Spoiler Warning - Click Here} she’s locking lips with Torres also makes me wonder... could that be “the kiss of death” for any relationship between them? and her character in the show? http://instagram.com/p/CPUmgMOFWOX

Wow! I called it!
🤔 I wonder what Emily Wickersham is going to do now... and, I guess Katrina Law won’t be a “fifth wheel” - she’s Bishop’s replacement...
they sure kept a lid a lid on this one, didn’t they?
eta: @ mchnelson...
as I told you in the other thread, your opinion is as good as any other...
I would really like to know how you felt about this final episode... for instance, how do you feel about the way they dealt with the Gibbs/Marcie storyline? I feel it’s unfinished, and I wonder if Pam Dawber will be returning in Season 19 - don’t you?
and how do you feel after learning that Bishop won’t be back?
these are things you should share with us... we don’t bite, honest!

Not quite sure what I just watched.
First of all, if Bishop is truly leaving (as in leaving LEAVING), I will miss her. Even though I thought they made her too quirky at the beginning and then went the other way and made her too generic later on. Still will miss her. I do like Agent Knight though. So if that is Bishop's replacement, I think she'll fit in just fine. Not gonna lie -- will really miss Bishop if that was indeed her last episode.
Why was she so pissed off (her words) at Gibbs? Was it because she knew she was leaving too and felt that with *both* of them leaving, the team would be basically no more? Just seemed to be an odd conversation between the two at that point.
And I get that probably she is going to go deep undercover as a disgruntled agent, but found it strange that she could apparently let Gibbs know but not Vance. Or Tim. Hope the rest of the team does learn that this was a planned setup for her to go undercover at some point anyway. Torree can always tell them I guess.
And yeah, didn't expect that ending. Does it mean rule #91 is blow'd up too? Hmm. Still think that Gibbs arc has gone on too long, but have to admit, that was a bit of a surprising way to end the season.

nas I'm wondering if Gibbs set the explosion himself to throw off the serial killer? I can't believe he didn't check the boat before he set sail.

I'm really going to miss Bishop. Emily did a good job with the character over time and I thought she was a great fit with great chemistry with the team.

I don't have much time this morning but I'll put a few thoughts of mine down:
- I'm not sure how I feel about Bishop burning her bridges to go off with Odette. In a way, it's like watching her make the same mistakes as Ziva. In some ways it is a bit of a rehash of her storyline except that we got to watch her decide to go with Odette instead of finding out about it many seasons later.
- I really liked how McGee reacted to everything. He was hurt. He clearly didn't want to believe that Bishop had leaked the file. But he kept pushing forward on the case even though he wanted to drop everything to help his friend. I think that he's turned into a good leader for the team, which I think that with the explosion, that's the route they're taking. Gibbs is going to go after the serial killer while NCIS carries on under McGee. Tim is a good leader, but even though Gibbs hasn't been at work for weeks now, it doesn't seem like he is empowered to be the team lead. He's still keeping Gibbs' seat warm for him. This might just be the push to get him to accept that his crutch (Gibbs) isn't coming back and that he needs to step up.
- Something about how Odette groomed Ellie for the super-secret role feels icky to me. Almost like she took advantage of her. Ellie has had so much personal loss that it feels like she took this role to escape her life. It's not healthy and while I don't doubt that she'll do well at whatever task she's given, she'd have been far better off staying at NCIS with Nick. Which the "we don't have a regular 9 to 5 job" was just a BS excuse. She and Nick could have had a relationship, she just didn't want to have one because she's been hurt too many times before. Leaving with Odette was just another way to run away from that potential relationship before she got hurt again.
- As for Gibbs, I was right in that the season was going to end with "Gibbs in peril" but at least he's not on the run with Marcie, which would have been a little more cliche. I think the story is interesting and I can see how it will allow for Mark to have a reduced role in the show, which is seemingly what he wants. I doubt that they actually blew up that beautiful boat (the explosion looked CGI to me) but too bad they blew up Gibbs' boat. But I forget who said it (Marcie?), I think that Gibbs likes the work more than the end product. So when Gibbs is back, he'll be back to building something else in his basement.
- Finally, it would be just like the writers on this show to go with the pun of Knight takes Bishop if they are indeed bringing Katrina Law in to fill Bishop's spot on the team. I liked her more this episode. She seemed to fit right in. We'll just see what they do with her as they flesh out her character if it stays that way.
In general, I thought the episode was interesting. I don't think it was their strongest finale nor was it the worst. I think they did really suffer from the shortened season and the weird covid time-jump. I think that with a few more episodes, they could have set up Ellie's departure a little better but I don't hold that against them. They're telling stories with many constraints (some of which are self-imposed).
Either way, I'm just very glad we'll get season 19 next fall. Even with all it's warts, I still enjoy the show and look forward to new episodes.
