Got to see the episode this morning. (Now I can get some of my errands run.)
Thoughts:
I really wish it had been Kacey that left, but I'm okay with Bishop leaving. Good actress and nice roll, but I wasn't invested in her, and she never really filled the hole that Ziva left. And her Ziva "worship" was really poorly written and played. Also, I'm really glad we won't be seeing a lame relationship play out between her and Torres.
I do hope they keep Katrina Law. While I didn't watch Hawaii 5-0 I do like the actress and thought she did well in these last two episodes.
Not sure I agree about McGee. At times they still write him as that young probe that can't seem to wrap his head around the situation, leaning on Gibbs when he's supposed to be the leader. When DiNozzo left he really didn't want to take Tony's desk, now he refuses to take Gibbs. Yes, Gibbs is only suspended, and McGee can still do his job from his (Tony's) desk, but there is some symbolism he is refusing to accept.
Over all I liked the episode much more than others seem to have, and I don't need the realism others expect to be entertained.
The question that seems to be hanging over everything is will Pam be back? I don't know. Truthfully, I was underwhelmed by the story line and her part. Yes, it was good to see her back on TV, but I thought they could have done much more with her and Gibbs. After all, he is the star, and he would have been spending the screen time with his wife, so . . .
As for the boat. According to season 3, episode 1 or 2, he burned the boat he named after Diana, the boat he named after Kelly was cut to pieces by Abby, and now Rule 91 gets blasted to pieces. If I were Gibbs, I'd turn my next project into building an extra room onto the cabin. At least that's still standing.

If Ellie/Emily is truly gone that’s disappointing. She may not have been my favourite female character, but I did like her. It also disappoints me that Ellie fans as well as those of Caitlin have to see their favourites leave. However, fans of Ninja girl, got what they wanted. This is just my opinion, I know not everyone feels the same.

yes, I think Emily is really gone, ballerina... her instagram post looked legit; I doubt it was a gimmick, like in Season 19 she returns and says, “Surprise! I was just kidding!”
I don’t watch NCIS: LA, but apparently they wrote out two characters from that show, too... seems TPTB over at CBS & NCIS are doing a little “house cleaning”...
nas
p.s.: I wonder 🤔... was it her decision, theirs, or a mutual one?

I didn’t think they really blew up the full size boat that LJG “magically” got out of his basement, Hari... I meant the “storyline boat” that he spent soooo much time “building” during the season - it was a beauty!
I do know how special effects work... the boat “Kaboom” was definitely CGI/special effects - just like all the other Kabooms they have on the show...
side note: like in the movie The Life of Pi, I didn’t believe there was really a Bengal Tiger in the boat with the guy... 😉

I had another thought about the explosion that I haven't seen on this board so far and I haven't read any other sources. Seems like an awful coincidence that Gibbs and Bishop would both be disgraced in such a short span of time. Is it possible that Gibbs is going to work with Bishop on whatever she's up to? The boat explosion most likely was set up by Gibbs himself by virtue of his surviving it - probably used directional charges toward the rear of the boat - perhaps just to scare Marcie off the serial killer case while he wouldn't be around to protect her.
Is this theory far-fetched? Yes, but that's never stopped the writers before.

no more far-fetched than the thought I had today, Hari...
there are probably some thoughts floating around out there now that Bishop is gone, “ninja-girl Ziver” should come back to the NCIS team...
forget Katrina Law as Agent Knight! who needs her?
forget that Ziver is supposedly living happily with Tony & Tali in Paris - or that Michael Weatherly has his own tv series... Tony can be a never seen stay at home dad, while Ziver faces the daily dangers of being a “Super NCIS Agent”, killing bad guys with her “thunder thighs”!
I bet the CdP fanatics would go crazy over that!!
so, how’s that for far-fetched? nas

so, how’s that for far-fetched? nas All you're missing is a conspiracy about how Torres and Knight are "Nick and Jessica" and the new Barbie heading up the Hawaii show is married to a "Nick" who used to be with a "Jessica". Of course, this is coming from someone who thinks they should have named Law's character 'Tamara'. "So whatcha doin' Tamara Knight?"

A few thing's we missed, and some I can't remember.
With CBS all access, I can stream the last five episodes aired for free. So I've watched the last five episodes of the season. I've been off work for a couple of days.
With hind sight and no interruptions, it should have been clear to me that they were building up to Bishops departure. It was just several little things that slip my mind now, but upon reflection, when I watch, it is now clear to me.
But the biggest thing I missed the first time I saw the episode was when Gibbs was preparing to get the boat out. It was when McGee came over in the 5th act. Gibbs was bring tool boxes and items up from the basement, said he was doing some spring cleaning, rearranging things. Next time we see Gibbs, he's hauling "Rule 91" behind him on a trailer, the speeding off on the lake. Clearly, there is a large enough door in one of the walls he keeps hidden.
So much to think about.
Another note about the explosion. When we meet Marcie, she goes to Gibbs home to make peace with him. She makes statement that the carburetor he's working on goes to a special boat motor that is a 'pain in the ass'. Were they foreshadowing the upcoming explosion? But one would ask "Isn't Gibbs a better mechanic than that?"

How about this one for a conspiracy theory? Ellie had to go so deep undercover that not only did they make her character look like traitor, but they also had get rid of actress from the show herself to pull it off. This is all a ruse and she and her character will come back once the undercover assignment is over. Now that's some deep, deep, DEEP undercover work there. Seriously though I do hope she can come back for a few episodes in the future. If nothing else, to talk about that mission. I mean, if Ziva could return from "the dead", surely Agent Bishop can return at some point as well. I really hope Fornell shows up next season to help out with the investigation. Gibbs/Fornell always were entertaining together. So I hope he will appear next season for this arc.

Did not see it coming. I also did not read or see anything that made me think that she would leave, all the talk about Mark leaving was the only chatter I knew of.. I had the same thought... llyan I basically agree with a lot of what you posted. I really did not like the Odette theme at all. Not fond of the connection to Ziva or following in her footsteps. Early in the episode before I saw where things were going I was wondering when Ellie became so physical, Ziva was portrayed like that right from the beginning. I am wondering the direction they are going with the boat explosion .... I also wonder if Pam will be back next season to tie up the storyline. It looks like it will be McGee, Torres and Knight with Kacie and Palmer handling cases the beginning of next season. I feel the same llyan. My guess is the show is winding down, so I will be watching the episodes that are left.

I remember when Odette spoke to Ellie shortly or just as the ziva episodes were coming to an end and she recruited Ellie then or at least offered her the opportunities and like a lot of other things probably did it off scree so having her be at the level of physical prowess doesn't surprise me. Sadly someone on a Instagram posted an accusatory post towards Mark Harmon (may have been a fan of PP) and has since deleted it.

I mean, Bishop's first episode had her effectively ground a bad guy with the simple explanation of "two older brothers" but that's a bit different than power sliding across the floor while one-shot-to-the-heart two bad guys.
Early in the season there was a sign of her participation with Odette when she fought out of captivity in the hangar and avoided being on the plane that exploded, and that was something like a year (or more, by end of season) back in actual show time, because of the ten-month COVID jump. She also was getting grilled by Nick a couple episodes back about her firearms training scores, something else I promptly tied to her training with Odette.
Ultimately though I didn't expect her to leave the show, and figured she was just taking advantage of that offer for training, it never occurred to me that it would become the setup for a departure. I expected Odette being in the episode to be assistance with going rogue against baddies setting her up for the NSA leak, but that was just another thing I was wrong about in my analysis of the trailer and pre-episode interviews.
