@ llyan and pdsmith...
you have both given a “Gibbsless NCIS” wayyyy more thought - and print - than I could ever come up with... congratulations on your creativity!
my only thought on the situation is that I think it would be pitiful for the writers to continue on with the series if Harmon leaves the mothership... why draaaaaaag it out past it’s life expectancy? there’s a time for living, and a time for dying - if this show has died, then let it RIP!
re the end of this board, pd: maybe it will be time for it to end, too... it was fun while it lasted... I will miss my Fur Baby buddies, but I think we’ll figure out a way to keep in touch with stories and pictures when the time comes...
re discussion of NCIS: Hawaii: you could always start a new blog of your own, and make it a rule that “no negative posts and/or critiques are allowed”... easy, peasy!!
nas There was a Pro-Boards NCIS board back when IMDb still had theirs and its owner went “no negative remarks” and it died rather quickly when anything that wasn’t raves got deleted. I can’t remember its name anymore.

I would like a happy medium. It doesn't have to be all rah rah but neither does it have to be negative all the time either.

It will be interesting to see how they handle it. For me the only realistic scenario will be if Gibbs faces some kind of consequences for his actions, even the most recent one of taking off with a suspect and leaving the FBI agent. If he just "retires" I would have a difficult time accepting that. I do agree with you on points # 1& 2.
@pdsmith If I may ask - did you watch NCIS from the beginning? Or did you start in the later seasons and then go back to erlier episodes? For me there is a different tone to the later seasons then the earlier ones. I did not watch from the very beginning but I started in the early seasons and have followed it all along. I watch very little series tv, I don't binge watch tv so it is one of very few shows that I routinely watch. If I had started with NCIS in the later seasons I doubt I would have followed it completely, it would be like other shows that if I see them okay, if not that is alright too. Several shows I record on DVR and if I have time fine but more often than not I just delete. That is how different the later seasons feel to me than the earlier ones. I am glad that you seem to enjoy it as much as I did in the earlier seasons... If you were on the IMDB boards in the earlier years (I don't remember if you were, although I clearly remember llyan, newbie, nas and others) you would have enjoyed it more because it was definitely more of a mix of positive and negative comments.
I am waiting to see how the season pans out. I really don't see the series going on for too long without Mark but we will see. I do hope we find a way to check in with each other. There were some members from the old boards who have not kept up or transferred and I do think about them and hope they are well.
NCIS:Hawaii is falling into the category I spoke of above- I have it DVR, I watched maybe 15 mins of the first episode but have not gone past that. If I have time I may watch it more but I am just as likely to delete it....

If I have time I may watch it more but I am just as likely to delete it.... I was a fan of JAG. Didn't watch that show from the beginning, came to it later, but did see the backdoor pilot for NCIS. I started watching from the first episode and have all the DVDs.
Unfortunately, my new work schedule doesn't allow me to watch the show live. I stream it on CBS all access on Tuesday mornings, usually watching two or three times before commenting.
NCIS is among my favorite shows of all time, ranking with M*A*S*H, ST:TNG, Elementary, Endeavour, Have Gun Will Travel. There are other shows I like but don't get to watch much or at all. My current TV viewing is now limited to Premier League Football on Saturday mornings.
NAS, I have neither the computer skills nor desire to start my own board. I find it's all to easy to be negative and shows the general laziness of our current society. Social Media has robbed us our what we once called common courtesy. I've never said that NCIS was perfect, there are flaws just like with everything in life, but it seems that people only want to focus on the negative without appreciating the difficulties of making 22, 42 minute movies in 8 days with only 1 day off a week, often working 16 hours each day. (This comes from having worked as a background actor on a few shows here in Dallas.) While shows like GoT are given nine months to produce 10 one hour shows and are given rave reviews (generally for the gore, profanity, and nudity) network shows work under stricter guidelines and harsher deadlines and are then cruelly criticized when they don't, or can't, live up to unrealistic expectations. All to please nit-picky, ungrateful spectators who have no clue as to what it takes to conceive of an idea, write a script, re-write a script, cast, costume, location scout, fund, rehearse, hire crew, produce then edit that idea (along with other things I failed to mention).
I would prefer people be more appreciative of the work and effort made by those who produce entertainment for the masses, the long hours, sweat (especially the outdoor heat experienced in July and August in Texas and California), and sacrifices many of those who work behind the camera make at less than stellar wages. Either that, or go out and do it yourself.
Now, I must be off to aforementioned job.

@pdsmith. I understand what you’re saying but simple things like handcuffing a prisoner behind their back & having law enforcement sit in the back seat are things that don’t need a lot of thought things like that should be criticized for a series that have been on for 19 seasons. & I think this was one of the big issues most had on the last episode.

Either that, or go out and do it yourself.
Now, I must be off to aforementioned job.I understand your opinion, I really do. There is a lot of work that goes into TV/Film/Music. However, it’s not unreasonable for fans to be disappointed, no matter how much work that goes into something, people are not required to accept or enjoy what is put on screen. Are someone people to nit picky? That’s a personal viewpoint, but many things on NCIS are too far fetched and just unrealistic. No matter how much work is put into something, keeping fans happy should be important. They are the ones watching the show, they are the ones allowing it to continue, allowing for everyone to do the job they are doing. If they are upset, the question “why” should be asked. If fans lose interest they will stop watching, and eventually will end the show. I personally don’t automatically equate unhappy comments, or opinions as ungrateful. It often times is people who something they once enjoyed, lose the spark that they originally caught there interest in the first place. No one should have to just accept the storylines and only see rainbows and unicorns. They have a right to be unhappy, and to even tell people. Sure, some people are too harsh and rude, but telling the creators they are unhappy is reasonable. Personally, I would rather see people’s true feelings even if they are negative with few positives, then see people fake happiness or not speak at all. Again, I understand there is far more work that goes into creating TV shows and Movies, but that doesn’t mean you have to be happy with what is produced. There is a point when the creators have to step back and ask themselves why are people unhappy. I may not watch much TV or movies for that matter, but I did start watching NCIS from the first episode. The series has changed, it feels almost like a different show altogether. The writing is not as good in my opinion, and in general the feel of the show is not the same. In the early years I had more positive things to say, and less negative. Now the opposite is true, I have less positive things, and more negative. I am going to emphasise again that wanting to keep your audience happy should be important to the creators of a show. With NCIS it seems to me as though they care only about a certain group of fans, and anyone else is less important. I know we have different opinions, and I respect that you have yours, but personally I would rather see people’s true opinion, then a fake one. No matter how hard people work to put a show together, people have a right to voice how they feel. No one should just have to love and accept the show simply predicated on the basis that a lot of work went into its production. This is just my personal opinion.

I thought I saw that he was not only handcuffed but foot-cuffed (if that's a phrase?) with a chain going from the handcuffs to the feet so really, the bad guy being in the back seat wasn't a huge issue for me. I figured the connecting chain would keep Bad Guy from strangling the driver, maybe. There really should've been a wire divider, too, but oh, well.

I get it, pd - - writing and producing a t.v. show is hard work! all those long hours writing, re-writing, low wages, etc., etc., etc.... and pity those poor people who must work on set in the “outdoor heat” in California... 😕 (I’ll bet there are a few fire fighters who would trade places with them in a “New York minute”...)
I’m not saying I can do their job - or even want to - but the least they can do is try to avoid writing scenes that smack you in the face as totally, glaringly wrong! the one particular scene in this episode where LaMere is seated in the back of the SUV as if he was there for a friendly little “ride along” was just insulting to my intelligence! he’s a serial killer, who should have been treated as such! I guess the NCIS budget didn’t allow for a vehicle that was equipped with a shield or cage that keeps the criminal from leaning forward and talking into the driver’s ear... call me “nit-picky”, but is it asking the writers too much to pay attention to little details such as that?
in my defense I may be critical of the show, but I do not consider myself discourteous towards you or any of the other posters on this board who are fans of NCIS..
and that’s about all I have to say on the matter...

yes, he was handcuffed, kate...
however, the issue (for me) is that he was shackled to the waist chain with his hands in front, which would allow him to use his hands, fists or arms in an escape attempt - or to possibly grab the LEO’s gun... with his hands cuffed behind him, this is nearly impossible...
that’s the point I was trying to make...

In Mind Games the guy who asked for GIbbs also was shackled in the same way. I am guessing that this had to be done according to some rules.

PDSmith---We can appreciate the hard work that goes into making a TV show and at the same time not like or enjoy watching the results. Not everyone has the same tastes either, ie you enjoyed the character of Ziva and I couldn't stand her. Have a great day.

True but he was surrounded by armed guards & when transported to NCIS HQ he was in a prison van not in the backside of a car with no one in the backseat to guard him.
