Um, who was she texting at the end of the episode?

well, jennifer, guess you’ll just have to wait for Season 20/ep 1 to get the answer to that question… it’s called a “cliffhanger” ending…
another question might be “why was she texting?”…. 🤔

Wondered when they'd get back to the Raven. Now I know. Wasn't impressed with the ex-wife at all. Hope she's an infrequent "recurring" character next season. Knight and Palmer are an interesting idea, but let's not spent too much time on it, oh, great powers-that-be. And as a screwy thought, maybe she was texting Gibbs (they've done dumber things on this show).

If the ex is working with the Raven, there's no way she's recurring next season. She didn't show any emotion while sending that text, so I don't buy her being blackmailed into helping. That leaves three possibilities that occur to me: either she is working with someone like Gibbs (though Fornell is a better candidate) who is looking to help Parker, she could be texting the FBI, or perhaps it will turn out that she IS the Raven and will be the recurring villain like Ari. They certainly made a point of saying 'he' on every reference to the Raven in this episode. Whether in relation to the Raven or not, I think that FBI Deputy Director is dirty in one way or another.

for me the episode was “meh”…
~ not terribly impressed with Terri Polo as Parker’s ex Vivian…
~ why must Parker have a contentious relationship with his father? (shades of LJG 😖) (btw, old man, he was a Federal Agent before moving to NCIS - even if it isn’t “the real Navy”)
~ the budding romance between Palmer & Knight leaves me cold… 🥶 where. is. the. chemistry?
~ samo, samo “we are family” theme (anybody else hearing Sister Sledge singing in the background?): “I’d give up my career for you.” “I’d take a bullet for you!” blah, blah, blah…
I can’t begin to think what the blowback would be if the writers turned Vivian Kolchak into a murderous, evil, witchy woman, Hari! after creating/introducing them as this loving, caring couple who just couldn’t stay married - for whatever reason - they make her the bad guy?! I just don’t see it, but who knows what the writers will come up with…

I did have another thought after posting. Part of the same thought, I guess. I mentioned that I think the FBI deputy director will turn out to be dirty; well, it occurs to me that making things look like the Raven is behind them would be relatively simple for him. It would be well within the habits of the writers to have Sweeney be the one who took the money in the first place, framed Parker's partner for that, set up the Cayman accounts to look like they belonged to Parker, then set up the kidnapping of Vivian to look like it was done by Parker's enemy at large, the Raven. He then instructs Vivian to keep an eye on Parker for him. This would also explain why the text exchange was exactly the same for Vivian as it was for Ressler.

Question: Have we seen the character of the Racen on screen?
I take from some of the conversation on here that we have not.

No we have not the only thing we saw was the writing nevermore. However they did make a point of saying they keep calling the Raven a he, but they could very well be a woman too.

that’s really good, Hari… you should submit it to the NCIS writers! it’s just convoluted enough for them to want to use it…. 😉

Now if you can just figure out how to add Ziva into the mix.

Unlike last week, this one was not straight forward so I had to watch this one again. Here's my thoughts as I go:
- Initial Text: How's it going? It's done. We have her.
- Vance's current secretary is the introvert from the Geico commercials. I knew she looked familiar.
- Parker's dad said he served on the USS Garrett County. That was an LST Tank Landing Ship. Interestingly, it was built in Pittsburgh for WWII (I didn't know that they built ships for the war so far inland.) and saw action at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. It was then used in the Vietnam war (which is likely where Parker Senior served his three tours) before being decommissioned and given to the Vietnamese navy in 71. The crew escaped to the Philippines after the Vietnamese government fell. The ship was transferred to the Philippine navy and was decommissioned in 2010.
- I didn't particularly care for Parker running off in the middle of the investigation after finding out about the sunflower seeds. That was very Gibbsian and I didn't like it when he did it either. I also didn't like that no one complained when he left, although that could have been in a scene that ended up on the cutting room floor.
- I liked the little conversation between McGee and Knight about McGee's dad being upset that he didn't join the navy but that he got over it and that joining NCIS helped. Nice little call back to a character detail.
- Nick knew about Knight's coffee dates with Jimmy because a little birdy (of the genus Palmer) told him. Lol. Since Nick is buddies with Victoria, that tracks that Palmer might have let something slip about their coffee dates.
- It bugged me that Jimmy didn't let Parker tell them what time he had come to visit his old partner before announcing the time of death. Not that I think Parker killed his partner, but it would have ruled him out as a suspect if he would have answered that he had been and gone before the guy died. Then again, they were trying to make us suspect him too, so that's probably why Jimmy didn't wait.
- I don't know that Sweeney is dirty but they really don't want us to like him. He's smarmy, smug and really annoying. So mission accomplished.
- I loved Ducky as refrigerator repairman and the banter between him and Jimmy. I missed those kinds of scenes.
- I really love Parker's apartment and the green house.
- The interrogation scene was well-done. This chair is really uncomfortable. It's the same chair as on this side. No it's not.
- I'm not sure what to make of Vivian. I kinda like her even though the ending casts her in a suspicious light. I liked how she deflected Torres' crack at investigating UFOs to say she investigates the unknown. And she also deftly deflected answering why they broke up. "There are some things even healthy marriages can't survive." Not sure what that means just yet. When Parker was asked in a previous episode about why his marriage ended, he said that "he wasn't really sure why it ended." One of them was lying.
- So if the plant was bugged, the FBI heard everything about Ducky getting the FBI files from his (no labels) friend, to the offshore account that is supposedly in Parker's name to his plan to turn himself in. I suppose that'll help keep the suspicion off the team for when Parker goes on the run at the end of the episode.
- I like how the team came to the realization that Parker might not be Gibbs but he's done a lot for each of them over the year. But that he doesn't know them well enough to believe that they would step away while the job wasn't done.
- I know that some people are complaining that Jess and Jimmy don't seem to have much chemistry. I think that the awkward stage of starting a relationship is clouding that. Up until now, they've always seemed like a they were good friends. I like them. I'm still on team Jimmy/Jessica. (Favorite couples nickname that I've seen is Knight and Shining Palmer.) Palmer's a nice guy who deserves some happiness and I like Knight. I don't want to see them making out all over the navy yard, like Palmer and Agent Lee. But I'm up for seeing where this goes. And I appreciate that they did not leave the question unanswered. For better or for worse, at least they're going for it!
- Rules 5, 8 and 15 5. You don't waste good 8. Never take anything for granted 15. Always work as a team
- I laughed at the secretary casually asking if Vance was expecting Agent Sweeney.
- So the way they framed it, the FBI doesn't know (for now) that NCIS (up to and including the Director) is aiding and abetting Parker's escape. I wonder how long that will last.
- Interesting quote by Vivian at the end there. When Parker gave her the opportunity to back out, she said, "This Raven came after me too. Whatever bigger plans he has, I'm already a part of it." My suspicion is that if she is working with the Raven at the end there, it isn't willingly.
Final Text: How's it going? It's done. I have him. The text was from a "private caller." Nice bookend to the start of the episode.
Overall I liked it but it's really hard to judge it based on 1/2 the story. It's an intriguing setup and I'm interested to see where they go with it.
