I really liked this one. No obvious suspects to me as Act 2 ended. Enjoyed Gibbs more than I have in a long time. Happy to see more of Reeves. Heartbreaking in the side story.
Cold/Teaser:
The "I Love You" virus was spread the same way.
What? McGee is suggesting payment to a cyber terrorist?
Nosy Torres.
Oops. King of the NCIS geeks - and all his contacts - just got hacked with the virus.
Oh dear! The Admiral did it! But why.
There's more to it than "photos of his, now deceased wife.
Gibbs knows how to use the flip phone - still has one.
Act 1
Homegrown?
Quinn's mom is - odd. Alzheimer's? Torres doesn't seem to suspect anything.
Oh my. I have a cat named Elliott.
Uh Oh. Langley guy (Asher) knows more than he's telling. Reeves & Bishop know.
Very glad to see Reeves working on this with the team. Hope to see it more.
He went bye-bye.
Act 2
This is sort of like "Power Down". In a way Gibbs is rather enjoying it.
Ah. That's right, Gibbs did upgrade. Happy to be back with "flippy".
Yes, there's something else Quinn isn't saying.
This should/would take a warrant - tracking Asher by his car satellite radio.
Duh. Try in the water.
Thank goodness for paper.
Looks like a Public Storage - the orange doors.
Maybe Asher should have spoken up to Reeves & Bishop.
Okay. That was different.
Act 3
EWWWWW! Even though he's dead.
Good! Science can't be rushed and Ducky doesn't back down.
Uh. They've gone through this before. The one with the prankster killed by his not-daughter.
Killed due to his own virus.
NO I WOULD NOT TRY IT!
Bingo. Terrifying really.
Wish I hadn't been right but now I'm sure. Marie has Alzheimer's. Gives more depth to Quinn taking the job on Gibbs team. Back in Washington.
Act 4
Waiting. And more waiting. For 2 and 3 to thaw.
Guilty party caught.
Seems they ran out of time and cut some stuff.
Denial.
This is the Gibbs I wish he'd been for the last several years. The plus with George and Frank taking over as show runners.
I think I now like Quinn.

I'll have to watch this one again, but it's going to compete for a top 20 place in my revised list when this season is over. Excellent episode, Mercedes Ruehl was wonderful in this as was Bruce. Great story, great interaction with the team, great outcome, and the bad guy wasn't someone we saw till the end.
This is ranks up there with "The Tie That Binds", "Off the Grid", and "Keep Going".

I'm very glad that the Admiral wasn't involved with the cryogenic killer guy.
Mercedes was fabulous and so was Jennifer.
Can we keep this Gibbs?

I'm very glad that the Admiral wasn't involved with the cryogenic killer guy. But I wish McGee could have worked in a Tron reference when explaining the virus.

I may may be wrong, but the episode title brings to mind a very, very old song... it may have more to do with Alex "hot mess" Quinn & her mother than the computer hacking situation... here, in part, are the lyrics to the song, "Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries":
Life is just a bowl of cherries Don't take it serious; it's too mysterious You work, you save, you worry so But you can't take your dough when you go, go, go So keep repeating it's the berries The strongest oak must fall The sweet things in life, to you were just loaned So how can you lose what you've never owned? Life is just a bowl of cherries So live and laugh at it all btw, I could care less about Quinn and her "family matters"... the lady is just strange, imho...
nas Early onset dementia. Altimeter's. 😢

I thought the secondary story was very good. I enjoyed the primary story as well...

The episode was a dud, for me.
I really like Mercedes Ruehl, but seeing her means more Quinn and more non-case drama, both of which I dislike.
And... Bruce Boxleitner, be still my ancient .

They are playing Roll' now? Dinner role, Hot Dog role , hamburger role or Potato role? Maybe they will get a suspect to ROLE over on their accomplices?
See what I did their? or is it they're?
Overall the was a good if highly unbelievable episode as the admiral would not have deliberately sent a virus to someone as an "incentive to take it more seriously and or work harder". Not to mention the fact that most DoD and Service Branch (Navy, Army, Air Force, MC) email servers will automatically scan and delete attachments from non secure sources, especially if it is suspect.
Interesting Subject matter for an investigation, the ultimate whack job guy --- He is really freaking out they're. or Their..... I am liking that Gibbs is giving McGhee and Bishop more and more team lead agent responsibilities. While maintaining overall Senior Agent Control.
Who Am I, you ask? An Old Friend. so old I think I forgot my password, but not how to get here.

Nothing good ever came from an Admiral who thinks he doesn't have to go to the IT Security classes that he makes his enlisted people go to.
Cheers!

Kind of like the Star Trek shows where every Admiral was incompetent. Would have been nice if they included a scene showing the Admiral being charged for his deliberate crime. And of course, NCIS once again shows the writers being inconsistent with knowing how a virus works.

Liked the secondary story better than the lead story. Big fan of Mom Quinn from way back. Hope to see more of her. A good actress can take the descent into dementia and make it utterly heartbreaking. I like Quinn, but am not sure she (the actress) will be able to keep up with the standard the mother has so far set in this plotline.

Probably wouldn't charge him with anything. More than likely a sternly worded written reprimand, attendance at make up IT security courses and that's all.

I really enjoyed the "B" story. I've been disappointed in Quinn as a character. This episode redeemed her for me. Thought both Mercedes Ruehl and Jennifer Esposito gave excellent performances. On the other hand, I wanted to slap the admiral. (The character not the actor) It was really irresponsible to pass that virus to McGee and the rest of the team. I know he apologized later but sheesh! Going to go back up my computer now.

The episode was a solid "B" for me. Mercedes Ruehl was amazing, and I loved her and Jennifer Esposito together. Quinn is in for a very long, heartbreaking road. And of course all moms would love Torres. Solid humor with Jimmy and Ducky, especially the tea drinking scene. The shot of the empty pot between them indicating that they have been waiting awhile. Kept us guessing again as to means, motive, and suspect.
Things that made it a "B". As SevernSarge noted, didn't the Admiral go to any of the cybersecurity classes (or online training!)? Of course, simply clicking on the email is not enough - one has to click on the attachment. Also, bad homework on "Langley". Bishop and Reeves would never have been allowed into the building without visitor badges and an escort, and Langley looks nothing like an unsecured dingy basement in an old office building. Reeves and Bishop should have picked up on Asher's "tell" right away - I sure did!
Ellie should have figured since the road ended up in the water, Asher would be in the water as well.
Gibb's shot pattern reminded me of the pilot, when the Marine JAG officer stated that the same pattern "cut down on appeals"
Sorry my thoughts are so random - I am at work (where we get cyber threat emails daily, but since I do my yearly online training, I know what to look for and to report suspicious emails!)
Oh, and always good to see BB - LOVED him in Scarecrow and Mrs. King!
