Being "old school" I get a kick out of the responses from those who can't seem to function without their toys. Use a map? Memorize phone numbers? Oh horrors! ROTFL!!!!! It was nice to not be able to guess the bad guy correctly. Makes the episode more fun to watch.
Congrats to Mercedes Ruehl. She did a great job portraying someone with early onset dementia. It was hard for me to watch. Reminded me of the last six months of my mom's life, after her second stroke. It is so hard to watch someone mentally unravel for whatever reason. I realize that some here don't care for Quinn as a character but I hope that there is a small amount of follow-up with the ladies.

Is it just me, or does Duane/Clayton look really uncomfortable in that baseball cap?

Best comment yet! So foolish to have all one's precious photos and documents on a computer and not back it up...but I do it all the time.

Jane! Good to see you here! I'm also guilty of not backing up as often as I should, but then again if one of these NCIS viruses hits it'll still be able to go airborne and infect my external drive that isn't powered on and isn't connected to anything, so no point...

I finally had a chance to watch this episode. Loved how all the young'uns were lost without their tech toys and Gibbs unaffected because he's an old geezer with a flip phone.I better not hear any of them get on his case for being old school ever again. Liked the "B" story with Quinn and her mom too. Alzheimer's/Dementia is not something I would wish on anyone..not even my worst enemy. Also loved hearing Ducky addressing Jimmy as "Dr. Palmer". Also loved the scene of the two of them drinking tea and watching the bodies thaw. I really liked the non-doofus Dr. Palmer in that whole sequence. Like I said in another post I'm ambivalent about Reeves. I still question why he's even there. Otherwise a solid episode.

While I like Reeves, I, also, question why a character from MI6 is assigned to NCIS.

Precedence from the moment DPB decided to put a Mossad assassin/spy on the team it became anything goes.

I like the character but wish one of his patrent was a US citizen but he was raised in the UK.

I like the character but wish one of his patrent was a US citizen but he was raised in the UK. If that had been true from the start, that's ok. To suddenly pull a retcon like that at this point would make the Dr. Palmer reveal seem realistic.

They haven't really said anything about his family yet (they dropped him having a son he never sees) so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for Gibbs to make a comment like:
Your mother/dad was born here and so were you so why not apply to be an agent?

I haven't commented on this episode before now because I just don't have a whole lot to say about it...
first and foremost, tho', I have to say I thought Mercedes Ruehl's performance was touching and heartbreaking... that said, I really don't want them (the writers) to go back to it again... why? because I don't particularly care for the Alex "hot mess" Quinn character, so the less time they spend giving her screen time, the better... and... knowing the writer's M.O. they'll probably screw up the facts regarding dementia/Alzheimer's because they just don't do their research/homework...
they played Ducky's mom, Victoria Mallard, for laughs as an old woman suffering from dementia, but that was a different situation altogether... and to be honest, I thought it was more sad than funny to see the old woman falling deeper into that world of lost memories... again, this has to do with my opinion that the writers just don't do "funny" on this show very good...
as far as the "ransomware" virus plotline goes: I never like NCIS episodes involving computer/technology "problems" because even my pee-wee brain, with it's limited knowledge of computers, knows that in the real world of computers it's just not the way the writers portray it... so I just file those plotlines under "total b.s."...
that's my 2cents worth...
