We've had more stupid episodes, but not a lot. Two redeeming features: Fornell and they got it over with. NCIS has a history of absolutely hashing recurring villains and long arcs. At least this one is over. Now if we can just keep them from bringing back McGee's new best buddy. Decided I like Fornell out of the FBI. It opens up more opportunities to use him.

well, I was right the first time - it was a dumb episode! but oddly enough it wasn't so dumb that I wanted to throw a brick at my t.v....
the dumbness that comes to mind - without repeating the cage in "Casa McGee" thing:
1) Hicks was so cocky it was as if he was begging to be busted again! dude, you're out of prison!! you really want to go back!? (guess the mind of a psycho murderer works in mysterious ways, eh?)
2.a.) would Hicks' van still be in the evidence garage after 10 years?
2.b.) assuming it was, whoever checked it out the first time around sure didn't do a very good job, did they? Abby would have found that bloody bat in the door panel in about 10 minutes! of course, if they had found it 10 years ago there would be no case - or storyline - would there?
surprisingly, the dumbest things of all involved McGee!
3) the minute Triff told him he "smelled" babies in the place, Timmy spilled his guts about them! not only did he say their names, but he mentioned Delilah, too! sheesh!! did he forget he was talking to a psychopathic killer?!
4) Reeves beats a path out of the place! of course, there's no other backup to be had - no officer stationed outside the door! of course not! 😡 ding dong! somebody's at the door... so instead of approaching cautiously with a weapon drawn, what does he do? throws the door wide open, and when he sees no one he just stands there with a dumb look on his face - really, really dumb!! hello, Hicks!!
o.k. - all's well that ends well! after a really dumb car chase (aren't they all?) Hicks gets tasered (by Gibbs) - not shot - and back to prison he goes...
final notes:
1) loved that Fornell presented Gibbs with a bill for his "services"! 😄 but he did give him a "Friends & Family Discount"...😉
2) French Stewart played psycho killer Triff so deliciously! (how could I find myself laughing when he was worried and hysterical about getting blood on the hardwood floor and a bullet hole in the Venetian wall? but laugh I did! ) sorry, dear Triff, but your "bff Tim" and his family will have to move from your beloved "home" someday; in fact, they've already outgrown it...
great as he was in this role tonight, I will always remember French as the hilariously funny alien Harry Solomon in Third Rock from the Sun back 20+ years ago...
I really expected to be more critical of this episode - and way more caustic - but this is the best I could do (even with Maxine standing over my shoulder!)...

Nice of them to put the memorial to their colleague who died in a car crash recently.

well, I was right the first time - it was a dumb episode! but oddly enough it wasn't so dumb that I wanted to throw a brick at my t.v.... Might I suggest: www.amazon.com/Foam-Brick-Goshman-Fake/dp/B002SP1U22Dumb, but consistent. Remember how in his previous episode he got released and went straight to the batting cage so Gibbs and Jack could see him hitting lefty. If they still had it, the van should have been returned to Hicks upon release. It's possible it was and they grabbed it from his address, but if they did then the murder weapon would be inadmissible unless they had gotten a new warrant.Agreed, but I was more annoyed by the lack of Abby. That's her area of expertise and as a civilian, Fornell had no business touching anything in there. That scene has to be the most conclusive evidence of problems between MH and PP we've seen. Not surprisingly. On the show (hopefully not on this board), the 'Senior Field Agent' title seems to go hand in hand with doing the dumbest things.Yep. He may as well have given Delilah's cell number and the address of her parents while he was at it.Not even a, "Who's there?"That's the worst part. Being taken alive means he WILL be back again at some point.I thought it was funny too. I'm not sure if it's funnier or loses humor when you consider that Tony had said (remember the discussion about continuity errors) that the location of his piano was based on it covering some blood stain he hadn't been able to remove.I'm sure he'll be back too. Just don't know if it will be in the same episode with the return of Hicks. The events of this episode would be more than enough to ensure these two were put in different prisons, but in TV land they'll probably put Hicks in the very same cell block with the guy he shot and have them escape together.Well, if half of my predictions come true, you'll certainly get your chance.

My expectations were low for this episode. However, I must admit that any episode with Joe Spano in it should have higher expectations. So, with that said, this episode did surprise me, and it didn't.
Tobias and Gibbs always work well together, and they didn't disappoint this time. The interaction with McGee and Triff was, in my opinion, fantastic. Yes, McGee seems to have lost some I.Q. points since his promotion to Senior Agent, but Stewart is a wonderful character and he and Sean did fantastic playing off of each other. I would actually like to see more of them.
On the down side, the use of Reeves and Palmer just seemed wasted in this episode. This could be because they are trying to fit too many characters in a small amount of time, but come on, let's get this figured out. And on that note, I'm still not sure "Jack" is needed or used correctly. Although, her roll this time did seem appropriate, but I would have thought she would have been at McGee's apartment to study Triff.
Also missed opportunity to see Delilah, but again, when would they have had time?
And speaking of time and too many characters, Bishop and Abby. If you blinked, you missed them.
In conclusion, not the worst episode I've ever seen here, but definitely not the best.
Till next week.

nas Only one auto accident thank heavens. However, after a lengthy trauma/critical care nursing career "bomb magnet" is certainly appropriate. Nothing like dodging flying blood and body fluids or combative patients and their families to keep a girl in shape. 😁😱

nas I've got a raging head cold so so I had trouble staying focused on the episode but I'm with you point by point (but for one - see below), Nas.
It was OK but not riveting.
Fornell was a real bonehead not going back to the FBI and thereby forfeiting his pension.
McGee has indeed dropped in IQ points. Telling Triff his children's names was basically telling him their social security numbers. The "I smell babies" bit had me If they show goes on for a few more years I can see them, like Emily Fornell before them, getting kidnapped.
I actually liked Gibbs using the taser.

Always good to see Fornell, but I wasn't impressed with this episode at all. The premise was weak and the execution was weaker. C'mon McGee, becoming senior staff is supposed to demonstrate skill and critical thinking improvement. What a shame that Hicks survived. I hope that does NOT mean we'll see him again any time soon!
