I've found myself watching NO here and there because a promo caught my attention, or I'm bored and want to watch something different
Can't say I'm a regular viewer though.
One problem I have is that Pride will say something and I'm thinking, "Bakula, you're from St. Louis. I'm from St. Louis. Just use your normal speaking voice, please."

Some people like my Cousin Maura who was born in the north (not exactly sure where) and grew up in Texas has that southern Texas accent. Her MOm and I believe her sister does as well.

I don't know why they decided to make Pride have a (bad) 'southern' accent, but I had to laugh because there is an episode of 'Quantum Leap' where Sam has to put on a fake accent and uses the same one as Pride (and it somehow sounded better). I always thought my accent is just a plain American accent but when I moved to Florida I was told by many different people that I have an accent (and I thought their accents were the same as mine).

I find myself watching both shows for different reasons. I get a kick out of the interactions between the characters on LA. They remind me of some of the characters and wisenheimers I used to work with. With NO, I love the city and I find it interesting how the NCIS office works with local LEOs and Coasties. I imagine that's a bit more realistic than the rogue cowboy Gibbs stuff. As far as Bakula's accent: it's not nearly as annoying as it was in the first season. That was truly annoying.
What did you think of the way they chose to address Granger's departure?

I've never been able to figure out why they had to have Pride FROM New Orleans rather than an NCIS stationed IN New Orleans.
I think it's funny when people complain about Lucas Black's (Christopher LaSalle) "phony" Alabama accent when he IS from Alabama.

I have to agree. I've been around so many people with regional accents that it doesn't bother me. When I hear or read the complaints about Lucas Black, I have to laugh. His accent isn't that difficult to understand. It's hard to believe that there are that many people with such a narrow range of experiences that a deep South accent is a waambulance trigger.

Lived in Texas (Beeville) for 18 months but didn't pick up the drawl - I did, however, pick up "Y'all" and "All Y'all" and learnd the difference between the two.

All this talk about accents reminded me of NYPD Blue's Andy Sipowicz. The character was played by Dennis Franz who is a native of Chicago (Melrose Park actually). Sipowicz was supposed be a NY native, yet people who watched the show wondered why he was speaking with a decidedly Chicago accent LOL.
