these trailers are already making me 😢…
I’m thinking there is absolutely no way this episode can be bad… sad, definitely - but never bad…

I really hope this episode honours not just Ducky, but also David, he deserves a good send off. I don’t want to be a negative Nancy, but I just don’t have faith in this show anymore. I worry that TPTB will be too concerned with bringing old characters back because they think it’s needed, only for it to take focus off of Ducky. The only character I think we really need to see is Gibbs, not others who have been gone for years. If anything they can be in the background, seen but not heard, then gone again. I would rather see cast members past & present give favourite moments with David at the end of the episode. It would be nice to see that clip. Again, I don’t want to be negative, this is just my personal opinion. I really want this episode to be about Ducky only, and not a reason to bring any other unnecessary story back. We will find out on Monday though.

well said, ballerina!
we must remember, however, that there’s only 40-44 minutes of actual showtime, so there’s only so much that script can cover; but we can hope for the best… 🤞
like you said, we’ll find out on Monday…

I am hoping for the best ... so far the clips are very emotional.
I hope it will be handled well, but even if it is not to my personal best expectations, I am going to take it as it comes. The passage of time both on the show and with some of the losses in my personal life are really hitting home right now.
Looking forward to Tuesday.

I hope I said it at the time the episode from that last preview aired, but 'one in a million' is selling Ducky way short. One in a billion would be more like it, though one in eight billion would be more like it. No way are there 8000 Duckys out there.

More clips have appeared. The first is an extension of what we've already seen and is probably the opening of the episode.

Like some of you, I hope it honors Ducky as well as David, the actor. He was just so good in pretty much every project he was involved with. And he was such a huge part of the fabric of this show even up to the very end. Such an awesome talent.
This episode was cowritten by Brian Dietzen. Most of the time I wind up liking his work. And since he has spent so many years with being in scenes with DM, you would think he would be a good choice to help write a tribute episode for him and his character. I would hope so anyway.
After all this time I still don't think I'm ready to watch this. Maybe should go shopping and pick up many a tissue. Never know when I might be cutting up onions, y'know..

Watching So It Goes on ION. It would be nice to know that Ducky stayed in contact with Maggie. He deserved to be happy.

One of the clips I saw Brian say he didn't want to write it, but it's an isolated line and doesn't explain if he was pressured to do it. I'd prefer to hope he just meant he wasn't ready to say goodbye to Ducky. I seem to remember there was at least a season or two between when the actress who played Victoria Mallard died and when the character died off screen.

I’m curious, I can’t recall the name of the actor who played Gibbs’ dad, but how long after he passed away was it before they wrote an episode about his death? The same actor also played on the show Bones, he played Booth’s grandfather. However, they never wrote an episode in the show, it was barely mentioned. I remember a lot of fans were bothered by it as well. He wasn’t in many episodes, but he was still a well loved character.

I can't recall whether I saw it somewhere or read it in an interview. (Since I can't access the board from my work computer, I don't always remember to post things here.) Brian said he didn't want to write the episode because it meant that his friend was really gone. He also said that he wasn't going to push to write an episode this season because it was shortened by the strikes and he didn't want to take an episode away from one of their staff writers.

Honor Thy Father was the episode dedicated to him. It was the last episode of S11.
