Okay. Let's see, Bad guy has Sherlock's Dad offed. Not a good idea. Having Sherlock on your bad side is dangerous, if not deadly. Ask Moriarty. (Speaking of which, now that Morland is gone, she gets her criminal empire back, or what's left of it.) There are only two episodes left, if you believe this is a 13 episode shortened summer filler. On IMDb is seems that is so. Therefore, bad guy needs to be dealt with quickly, Sherlock has to come to terms with losing the last of his family, and the series needs to be wrapped up in 84 minutes. (Run time for two "hour long" drama episodes.)
Questions.
Will Moriarty (Natalie Dormer) return? (Fingers Crossed, and double crossed, but not holding my breath) Will the series end with Sherlock and Joan living together happily ever after? Possible engagement? (Doubt that one) Will any of the past quest stars who are still living, (even in the relative short run time of the series there have been a couple of unfortunate deaths, of course, I'm not aware of too many fortunate deaths) return for a final good-bye? Will Bell finally leave for Marshal training? Will Gregson retire?
I'm sure there are others, but those are some I've thought of in the past 24 hours.

My theory: Morland has only faked his death in order to further his plan along. Why else would Bell have to mention that the body had ID. The body must be mutilated beyond recognition. Sherlock has to be in the dark for some reason or another. Reichenbach will "fall", I'm just not quite sure how yet. The Chinese government was pushing for his ouster from his board, but perhaps that has changed now with the arrest of the dissidents. Based on how much screen time one of Morland's operatives received while helping Joan search Annie's apartment makes me think that he will be a key player next week. I think the next two episodes will be quite interesting.

Did not see that ending coming, though in retrospect, I shouldn't be surprised. It will be interesting to see how they wrap the series up next week. It will be sad to see this one go.

neither did I, pd! (wow, what a view from the window, eh? I 💕💕💕 that city!! they have the best gelato in the whole wide world!! 😋)
I honestly don’t know how they can wrap this up in the 44 minutes that remain of the show... I think it’s gonna leave me wanting more - and unless they’ve done a stellar job of writiting this series finale episode, I’m just not going to get it... 😕
we shall see - - film at 11!

Driving to church this morning I was passed by a red and white mini cooper. Personalized plates "MYCROFT". Naturally I though of Elementary.
Note to NAS. Here, film is at nine. Or, at least Elementary airs at 9 central. News comes on at 10. Unless it's FOX and they have news at 9. But since I don't watch the news I don't care, except enough to post something stupid about the news times here.

As PD said, there is a LOT to resolve in 42 minutes!{Spoiler Warning - Click Here} I knew Sherlock faked his death, (the episode name was Reichenbach Falls after all!), but I was shocked to find that Morland really was dead. But why Italy? Is Moriarty there? Will he let Joan know that he is in Italy?

Okay, Wrenn Schmidt (Ellory) is back, but no mention of Natalie Dormer. So, Moriarty isn't back but her representative is. A little disappointing, but Ms Schmidt is easy on the eyes, so not that disappointing.
The previews I've seen have shown a lot of flashbacks, so I'm wondering just how much of the episode is going to be case related and how much is going to be saying good-bye to an old friend?
I think tomorrow night is going to be a bit rough, at least for me.

Okay, how many twists in the opening? I can think of 6.
This might get good.

A lot to take in.
Without spoiling anything for those who have not seen it yet.
No flashbacks like I thought there would be. Not really a case to solve as far as a murder, but then again, one wouldn't really expect for there to be one. Several interesting twists and turns during the episode and at the end. Some emotional tugging at the heart.
There were a couple of "things" I would take unbrage with, but overall a pretty good way to say good-bye. I'm going to give it a day and another watch to see how it settles with me. I want to make sure I judge the episode on it's merrit and not on the emotional fact that it's over.

I watched the finale episode twice, and overall I thought it was well done...
in just 44 minutes the writers very cleverly covered a lot of time and tied up a whole lot of loose ends... they let us, the viewers, know what the characters had been doing with their lives 3 years after the last confrontation with Odin Reichenbach... good job! 👏👏
there could have been many more cases for us to see them solve, but as Sherlock said, “at least they have each other”...
so, “Farewell and Adieu, Holmes & Watson” I will miss you...
eta: I forgot to mention, all those twists in the storyline gave me whiplash!

I've now watched the episode 5 times, maybe 6?
I agree with NAS, it was well done and they did wrap up the story lines well. I still want to know what happened with Hannah Gregson, that never got answered, and how did Marcus go from Detective, to Sergent, to Lieutenant, to Captain in three years. I buy Jimmy as a doctor and certified M.E. in 15 years much easier than Bell being a Captain in three years.
That being said, the twists in the story kept coming and were well placed, and kept me guessing all the way through, even the third and fourth time watching.
The only one that I wasn't happy with was the ending one. Thinking that Joan might not have survived the chemo was a bit heavy and then the surprise that it was JM, not that believable, but, what are you going to do.
I'm going to miss this show.
Now we just need to find a way to ship the writers of Elemetary from New York to LA to start writing for NCIS. Just a thought.
Good-bye old friend. I'll see you on DVD.

I very much enjoyed the ending and thought it was a clever way to wrap it up. I loved when Sherlock asked if they still owned a shovel after Moriarty's funeral. Although it was a bit of a stretch to think that Marcus would be Captain in such a short period of time, I do think it was a tip of the hat to the fans who of course thought he should follow in Gregson's footprints. Loved all of the Easter eggs, and I almost expected them to walk into Marcus' office holding hands (although that would have been highly inappropriate!). I too will miss the show. It was clever, witty, and a great character study.
